Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper^(A)

^22 (B)And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, ^[a]eat; this is My ^(C)body.”

²³ Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. ²⁴ And He said to them, “This is My blood of the ^[b]new covenant, which is shed for many.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, ^(A)“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

²⁰ Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”

²¹ But He was speaking ^(B)of the temple of His body.

⁵ you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light;

^16 (A)Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

¹⁷ If anyone ^[a]defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

⁵ And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; ^(A)you shall not use an iron tool on them. ⁶ You shall build with ^[a]whole stones the altar of the Lord your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. ⁷ You shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and ^(B)rejoice before the Lord your God. ⁸ And you shall ^(C)write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”

⁷ And ^(A)the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that ^(A)you are Peter, and ^(B)on this rock I will build My church, and ^(C)the gates of Hades shall not ^[a]prevail against it.
