Good News Translation
Jesus Speaks of the Destruction of the Temple(A)
13 As Jesus was leaving the Temple, one of his disciples said, “Look, Teacher! What wonderful stones and buildings!”
2 Jesus answered, “You see these great buildings? Not a single stone here will be left in its place; every one of them will be thrown down.”
Troubles and Persecutions(B)
3 Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, across from the Temple, when Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him in private. 4 (C)“Tell us when this will be,” they said, “and tell us what will happen to show that the time has come for all these things to take place.”
5 Jesus said to them, “Watch out, and don't let anyone fool you. 6 Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, ‘I am he!’ and they will fool many people. 7 And don't be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by and news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come. 8 Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be earthquakes everywhere, and there will be famines. These things are like the first pains of childbirth.
9 (D)“You yourselves must watch out. You will be arrested and taken to court. You will be beaten in the synagogues; you will stand before rulers and kings for my sake to tell them the Good News. 10 But before the end comes, the gospel must be preached to all peoples. 11 And when you are arrested and taken to court, do not worry ahead of time about what you are going to say; when the time comes, say whatever is then given to you. For the words you speak will not be yours; they will come from the Holy Spirit. 12 Men will hand over their own brothers to be put to death, and fathers will do the same to their children. Children will turn against their parents and have them put to death. 13 (E)Everyone will hate you because of me. But whoever holds out to the end will be saved.
The Awful Horror(F)
14 (G)“You will see ‘The Awful Horror’ standing in the place where he should not be.” (Note to the reader: understand what this means!) “Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills. 15 (H)Someone who is on the roof of a house must not lose time by going down into the house to get anything to take along. 16 Someone who is in the field must not go back to the house for a cloak. 17 How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! 18 Pray to God that these things will not happen in the winter! 19 (I)For the trouble of those days will be far worse than any the world has ever known from the very beginning when God created the world until the present time. Nor will there ever be anything like it again. 20 But the Lord has reduced the number of those days; if he had not, nobody would survive. For the sake of his chosen people, however, he has reduced those days.
21 “Then, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’—do not believe it. 22 For false Messiahs and false prophets will appear. They will perform miracles and wonders in order to deceive even God's chosen people, if possible. 23 Be on your guard! I have told you everything ahead of time.
The Coming of the Son of Man(J)
24 (K)“In the days after that time of trouble the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, 25 (L)the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses. 26 (M)Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 He will send the angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather God's chosen people from one end of the world to the other.
The Lesson of the Fig Tree(N)
28 “Let the fig tree teach you a lesson. When its branches become green and tender and it starts putting out leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin.[a] 30 Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
No One Knows the Day or Hour(O)
32 (P)“No one knows, however, when that day or hour will come—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; only the Father knows. 33 Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come. 34 (Q)It will be like a man who goes away from home on a trip and leaves his servants in charge, after giving to each one his own work to do and after telling the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35 Watch, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming—it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise. 36 If he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. 37 What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!”

3 Иса сидел на Оливковой горе напротив храма. Когда рядом больше никого не было, Петир, Якуб, Иохан и Андер спросили Его:
4 – Скажи нам, когда это произойдёт, и какое знамение укажет на то, что всё это скоро исполнится?
5 Иса начал говорить им:
– Смотрите, чтобы никто не обманул вас. 6 Многие будут приходить под Моим именем, говоря: «Это я», и многих обманут. 7 Когда вы услышите о войнах, настоящих и грядущих, не бойтесь. Это должно произойти, но это ещё не конец. 8 Потому что народ поднимется на народ и царство на царство. В разных местах будут землетрясения и голод, но это лишь начало родовых схваток.[a]
9 Будьте бдительны! Вас будут отдавать под суд и избивать в иудейских молитвенных домах. Из-за Меня вы будете стоять перед правителями и царями и свидетельствовать им. 10 Но прежде Радостная Весть должна быть возвещена всем народам. 11 И когда вас арестуют и поведут на суд, не беспокойтесь заранее о том, что вам сказать. Говорите то, что вам будет дано в тот час, ведь это не вы сами будете говорить, а Святой Дух.
12 Брат предаст брата, а отец – своего ребёнка, тем самым обрекая их на верную смерть. Так же будут поступать и дети: восставать против родителей и предавать их. 13 Все вас будут ненавидеть из-за Меня, но тот, кто выстоит до конца, будет спасён.
14 Когда же вы увидите «осквернение, что ведёт к опустошению»[b] там, где его не должно быть (пусть читающий поймёт), тогда те, кто находится в Иудее, пусть бегут в горы. 15 Кто окажется на крыше, пусть не спускается и не идёт в дом за вещами, 16 и кто окажется в поле, пусть не возвращается за своим плащом. 17 Горе же беременным и кормящим грудью в те дни. 18 Молитесь, чтобы это не случилось зимой, 19 потому что в те дни будут такие бедствия, каких ещё не было от начала творения мира Всевышним и доныне, и никогда больше не будет.[c] 20 Если бы Вечный не сократил эти дни, то не уцелело бы ни одно живое существо, но ради избранных, которых Он Сам избрал, Он сократил эти дни.

24 Но в те дни, после тех бедствий,
«солнце померкнет,
и луна не даст света;
25 звёзды будут падать с неба,
и небесные тела поколеблются»[d].
26 И тогда люди увидят Ниспосланного как Человек, идущего на облаках с великой силой и славой.[e] 27 Он пошлёт ангелов и соберёт Своих избранных с четырёх сторон света, от края земли до края неба.
28 Пусть для вас примером будет инжир: когда почки набухают и выпускают листья, вы знаете, что приближается лето. 29 Так и здесь: когда вы увидите, что это сбывается, знайте, что Он уже близко, у самых дверей. 30 Говорю вам истину: ещё не исчезнет это поколение[f], как всё это произойдёт. 31 Небо и земля исчезнут, но Мои слова останутся в силе.
Призыв к бодрствованию(C)
32 – Но о том дне или часе не знает никто, кроме Отца, – ни ангелы на небесах, ни Сын. 33 Смотрите, бодрствуйте: ведь вы не знаете, когда это время наступит. 34 Вот с чем можно сравнить это ожидание: человек, отправляясь в далёкое путешествие, оставляет свой дом под присмотром рабов и каждому рабу даёт особое поручение, а привратнику наказывает бодрствовать. 35 Поэтому будьте всегда наготове, ведь вы не знаете, когда возвратится хозяин дома: может вечером, а может в полночь, может с пением петухов, а может на рассвете. 36 Пусть же он, даже придя внезапно, не застанет вас спящими. 37 А то, что Я говорю вам, говорю и всем: бодрствуйте!

Jesus prophesies the ruin of the Temple
13 Then as Jesus was leaving the Temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Master, what wonderful stonework, what a size these building are!”
2 Jesus replied, “You see these great buildings? Not a single stone will be left standing on another; every one will be thrown down!”
3-4 Then while he was sitting on the slope of the Mount of Olives facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew said to him privately, “Tell us, when will these things happen? What sign will there be that all these things are going to be accomplished?”
5-11 So Jesus began to tell them: “Be very careful that no one deceives you. Many are going to come in my name and say, ‘I am he’, and will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, don’t be alarmed. such things are bound to happen, but the end is not yet. Nation will take up arms against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in different places and terrible famines. But this is only the beginnings of ‘the pains’. You yourselves must keep your wits about you, for men will hand you over to their councils, and will beat you in their synagogues. You will have to stand in front of rulers and kings for my sake to bear your witness to them—for before the end comes the Gospel must be proclaimed to all nations. But when they are taking you off to trial, do not worry beforehand about what you are going to say—simply say the words you are given when the time comes. For it is not really you who will speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Jesus foretells utter misery
12-13 “A brother is going to betray his own brother to death, and a father his own child. Children will stand up against their parents and condemn them to death. There will come a time when the whole world will hate you because you are known as my followers. Yet the man who holds out to the end will be saved.
14-20 “But when you see ‘the abomination of desolation’ standing where it ought not—(let the reader take note of this)—then those who are in Judea must fly to the hills! The man on his house-top must not go down nor go into his house to fetch anything out of it, and the man in the field must not turn back to fetch his coat. Alas for the women who are pregnant at that time, and alas for those with babies at their breasts! Pray God that it may not be winter when that time comes, for there will be such utter misery in those days as had never been from the creation until now—and never will be again. Indeed, if the Lord did not shorten those days, no human beings could survive. But for the sake of the people whom he has chosen he has shortened those days.
He warns against false christs, and commands vigilance
21-23 “If anyone tells you at that time, ‘Look, here is Christ’, or ‘Look, there he is’, don’t believe it! For false christs and false prophets will arise and will perform signs and wonders, to deceive, if it be possible, even the men of God’s choice. You must keep your eyes open! I am giving you this warning before it happens.
24-25 “But when that misery is past, ‘the light of the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light; stars will be falling from the sky and the powers of heaven will rock on their foundations’.
26-27 Then men shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send out his angels to summon his chosen together from every quarter, from furthest earth to highest heaven.
28-33 “Let the fig-tree illustrate this for you: when its branches grow tender and produce leaves, you know that summer is near, at your very doors! I tell you that this generation will not have passed until all these things have come true. Earth and sky will pass away, but what I have told you will never pass away! But no one knows the day or the hour of this happening, not even the angels in Heaven, no, not even the Son—only the Father. Keep your eyes open, keep on the alert, for you do not know when the time will be.
34-37 It is as if a man who is travelling abroad had left his house and handed it over to be managed by his servants. He has given each one his work to do and has ordered the doorkeeper to be on the look-out for his return. Just so must you keep a look-out, for you do not know when the master of the house will come—it might be late evening, or midnight, or cock-crow, or early morning—otherwise he might come unexpectedly and find you sound asleep. What I am saying to you I am saying to all; keep on the alert!”
