⁶ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many.

²² For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and ^(A)wonders to deceive, if possible, even the ^[a]elect.

Love for God and One Another

4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but ^(A)test the spirits, whether they are of God; because ^(B)many false prophets have gone out into the world.

³⁶ For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, ^[a]joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing. ³⁷ After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed. ³⁸ And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; ^39 (A)but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found ^(B)to fight against God.”

^24 (A)Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; ^(B)for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

⁴³ I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

^23 (A)“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. ²⁴ For ^(B)false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, ^(C)if possible, even the elect.

¹¹ Then ^(A)many false prophets will rise up and ^(B)deceive many.
