³³ Beware, keep alert,^[a] for you do not know when the time will come.^(A)

¹⁸ Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.^(A)

An Urgent Appeal

¹¹ Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is already the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers;^{(A) 12} the night is far gone; the day is near. Let us then throw off^[a] the works of darkness and put on the armor of light;^(B)

⁴⁰ You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”^(A)

¹⁵ (“See, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and is clothed,^[a] not going about naked and exposed to shame.”)^(A)

⁸ Discipline yourselves; keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.^(A)

⁷ The end of all things is near;^[a] therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers.^(A)

Exhortation to Watch

³⁴ “Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life and that day does not catch you unexpectedly,^{(A) 35} like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”^(B)

¹³ Keep awake, therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.^[a](A)

² Wake up and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God.
