1 And [a]he began to speak unto them in [b]parables, (A)A certain man planted a vineyard, and compassed it with an hedge, and dug a pit for the winepress, and built a tower in it, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange country.
2 [c]And at the time, he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive of the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 But they took him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant, and at him they cast stones, and brake his head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another, and him they slew, and many others, beating some, and killing some.
6 Yet had he one son, his dear beloved: him also he sent the last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But the husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
8 So they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall then the Lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and give the vineyard to others.
10 Have ye not read so much as this Scripture, (B)The stone which the builders did refuse, is made the head of the corner.
11 This was done of the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
12 Then they [d]went about to take him, but they feared the people: for they perceived that he spake that parable against them: therefore they left him, and went their way.
13 ¶ (C)[e]And they sent unto him certain of the Pharisees, and of the Herodians, that they might take him in his talk.
14 And when they came, they said unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou [f]considerest not the person of men, but teachest the [g]way of God truly, Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Should we give it, or should we not give it? but he knew their hypocrisy, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 So they brought it, and he said unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? and they said unto him, Caesar’s.
17 Then Jesus answered, and said unto them, (D)Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God, those that are God’s: and they marveled at him.
18 ¶ (E)[h]Then came the Sadducees unto him, (which say, there is no resurrection) and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, (F)Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, and leave his wife, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 There were seven brethren, and the first took a wife, and when he died, left no issue.
21 Then the second took her, and he died, neither did he yet leave issue, and the third likewise:
22 So these seven had her, and left no issue: last of all the wife died also.
23 In the resurrection then, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be of them? for seven had her to wife.
24 Then Jesus answered, and said unto them, Are ye not therefore deceived, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise again from the dead, neither men marry, nor wives are married, but are as the Angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they shall rise again, have ye not read in the book of Moses how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I (G)am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 God is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. Ye are therefore greatly deceived.
28 ¶ (H)[i]Then came one of the Scribes that had heard them disputing together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, he asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, (I)Hear, Israel, The Lord our God is the only Lord.
30 Thou shalt therefore love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, that is, (J)Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32 Then that Scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he,
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 Then when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
35 ¶ (K)[j]And Jesus answered and said teaching in the Temple, How say the Scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by [k]the holy Ghost, (L)The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 Then David himself calleth him Lord: by what means is he then his son? and much people heard him gladly.
38 (M)[l]Moreover he said unto them in [m]his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which love to go in [n]long robes, and love salutations in the markets,
39 And the chief seats in the Synagogues, and the first rooms at feasts,
40 Which (N)devour widows’ houses, even under a color of long prayers. These shall receive the greater damnation.
41 (O)[o]And as Jesus sat over against the treasury, he beheld how the people [p]cast money into the treasury, and many rich men cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a quadrin.
43 Then he called unto him his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury.
44 For they all did cast in of their superfluity: but she of her poverty did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

12 At(B) tinuruan ni Jesus ang mga tao sa pamamagitan ng mga talinghaga. Sinabi niya, “May isang taong nagtanim ng ubas sa kanyang bukid. Pinabakuran niya ang ubasan, nagpagawa ng pisaan ng ubas at nagpatayo ng isang tore. Pagkatapos, pinaupahan niya ang ubasan sa mga magsasaka at siya'y nagpunta sa ibang lupain. 2 Nang dumating ang panahon ng pag-aani ng ubas, pinapunta niya ang isang alipin upang kunin sa mga magsasaka ang kanyang bahagi. 3 Ngunit sinunggaban ng mga magsasaka ang utusan, binugbog at saka pinauwing walang dala. 4 Muling nagsugo ang may-ari ng isa pang alipin, ngunit ito ay hinampas sa ulo at nilait-lait ng mga magsasaka. 5 Nagsugo na naman ang may-ari ng isa pang alipin ngunit pinatay naman nila ito. Ganoon din ang ginawa nila sa marami pang iba, may binugbog at may pinatay. 6 Hindi nagtagal, iisa na lang ang natitirang maaaring papuntahin ng may-ari, ang kanyang minamahal na anak. Kaya't pinapunta niya ito sa pag-aakalang igagalang nila ang kanyang anak. 7 Ngunit nag-usap-usap ang mga magsasaka, ‘Iyan ang tagapagmana. Halikayo, patayin natin siya upang mapasaatin lahat ng kanyang mamanahin.’ 8 Kaya't sinunggaban nila at pinatay ito, at pagkatapos ay itinapon ang kanyang bangkay sa labas ng ubasan.
9 “Ano kaya ang gagawin ng may-ari ng ubasan? Pupuntahan niya at papatayin ang mga magsasakang iyon, at ang ubasan ay ipapamahala niya sa iba. 10 Hindi(C) ba ninyo nabasa ang sinasabi sa kasulatan?
‘Ang batong itinakwil ng mga tagapagtayo ng bahay
ang siyang naging batong-panulukan.
11 Ito'y ginawa ng Panginoon,
at kahanga-hangang pagmasdan.’”
12 Nang mahalata ng mga pinuno ng mga Judio na sila ang tinutukoy ni Jesus sa mga talinghagang iyon, tinangka nilang dakpin siya. Subalit hindi nila ito magawa sapagkat natatakot sila sa mga tao. Kaya't umalis na lamang sila at iniwan si Jesus.
Ang Pagbabayad ng Buwis(D)
13 Ilang Pariseo at ilan sa mga tagasunod ni Herodes ang pinapunta kay Jesus upang siluin siya sa kanyang pananalita. 14 Kaya lumapit sila sa kanya at sinabi, “Guro, nalalaman po naming kayo'y tapat at walang kinikilingan. Pantay-pantay ang pagtingin ninyo sa lahat ng tao at itinuturo ninyo ang tunay na kalooban ng Diyos para sa tao. Nais po naming itanong kung labag sa Kautusan ang magbayad ng buwis sa Emperador. Dapat po ba kaming magbayad ng buwis o hindi?”
15 Alam ni Jesus na sila'y nagkukunwari lamang, kaya sinabi niya sa kanila, “Bakit ba ninyo ako sinusubok? Bigyan ninyo ako ng isang salaping pilak.[a]”
16 At siya nga ay binigyan nila ng salaping pilak. “Kaninong larawan at pangalan ang nakaukit dito?” tanong ni Jesus sa kanila.
“Sa Emperador po,” tugon nila.
17 Sinabi ni Jesus, “Ibigay ninyo sa Emperador ang para sa Emperador, at sa Diyos ang para sa Diyos.”
At sila'y labis na namangha sa kanya.
Ang Tanong tungkol sa Muling Pagkabuhay(E)
18 May(F) ilang Saduseo na lumapit kay Jesus upang magtanong. Ang mga ito ay nagtuturo na hindi muling mabubuhay ang mga patay. Sinabi nila, 19 “Guro,(G) isinulat po ni Moises para sa atin, ‘Kapag namatay ang isang lalaki at naiwang walang anak ang kanyang asawa, ang kapatid ng lalaki ay dapat pakasal sa biyuda upang magkaanak sila para sa namatay.’ 20 Mayroon pong pitong magkakapatid na lalaki. Nag-asawa ang panganay, subalit siya'y namatay na walang anak. 21 Pinakasalan ng pangalawang kapatid ang biyuda subalit namatay rin ang lalaki na walang anak. Ganoon din ang nangyari sa pangatlo. 22 Isa-isang napangasawa ng babae ang pitong magkakapatid at silang lahat ay namatay na walang anak. Sa kahuli-huliha'y ang babae naman ang namatay. 23 [Kapag binuhay na muli ang mga patay][b] sa araw ng muling pagkabuhay, sino po ba sa pitong magkakapatid ang kikilalaning asawa ng babaing iyon, sapagkat silang lahat ay napangasawa niya?”
24 Sumagot si Jesus, “Maling-mali kayo dahil hindi ninyo nauunawaan ang itinuturo ng Kasulatan at ang kapangyarihan ng Diyos. 25 Sa muling pagkabuhay, ang mga tao'y hindi na mag-aasawa; sila'y magiging katulad na ng mga anghel sa langit. 26 Tungkol(H) naman sa muling pagkabuhay, hindi ba ninyo nabasa sa aklat ni Moises, sa kasaysayan ng nagliliyab na mababang puno, ang sinabi ng Diyos sa kanya? Ito ang sinabi niya, ‘Ako ang Diyos ni Abraham, Diyos ni Isaac, at Diyos ni Jacob.’ 27 Ang Diyos ay hindi Diyos ng mga patay; siya ang Diyos ng mga buháy. Talagang maling-mali kayo!”
Ang Dalawang Pinakamahalagang Utos(I)
28 Ang(J) kanilang pagtatalo ay narinig ng isa sa mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na naroon. Nakita niyang mahusay ang pagkasagot ni Jesus sa mga Saduseo kaya siya naman ang lumapit upang magtanong, “Alin po ba ang pinakamahalagang utos?”
29 Sumagot(K) si Jesus, “Ito ang pinakamahalagang utos: ‘Pakinggan mo, Israel! Ang Panginoon na ating Diyos—siya lamang ang Panginoon. 30 Ibigin mo ang Panginoon mong Diyos nang buong puso mo, buong kaluluwa mo, buong pag-iisip mo at buong lakas mo.’ 31 Ito(L) naman ang pangalawa, ‘Ibigin mo ang iyong kapwa gaya ng pag-ibig mo sa iyong sarili.’ Wala nang ibang utos na hihigit pa sa mga ito.”
32 Wika(M) ng tagapagturo ng Kautusan, “Tama po, Guro! Totoo ang sinabi ninyo. Iisa nga ang Diyos at wala nang iba liban sa kanya. 33 At(N) higit na mahalaga ang umibig sa kanya nang buong puso, buong pag-iisip at buong lakas, at ang umibig sa kapwa gaya ng pag-ibig sa sarili, kaysa magdala ng lahat ng handog na susunugin at iba pang mga alay.”
34 Nakita ni Jesus na maganda ang sagot nito kaya't sinabi niya, “Hindi ka na nalalayo sa kaharian ng Diyos.” At mula noon ay wala nang nangahas na magtanong kay Jesus.
Ang Tanong ni Jesus tungkol sa Anak ni David(O)
35 Habang si Jesus ay nagtuturo sa Templo, sinabi niya, “Bakit sinasabi ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na ang Cristo ay anak ni David? 36 Hindi(P) ba't si David na rin ang nagpahayag ng ganito nang siya'y gabayan ng Espiritu Santo:
“Sinabi ng Panginoon sa aking Panginoon,
‘Maupo ka sa kanan ko,
hanggang lubusan kong mapasuko sa iyo ang mga kaaway mo.’”
37 Si David na rin ang tumawag sa kanya ng Panginoon; paano siya magiging anak ni David?”
Babala Laban sa mga Tagapagturo ng Kautusan(Q)
Napakaraming tao ang malugod na nakikinig sa kanya. 38 Sa kanyang pagtuturo, sinabi ni Jesus, “Mag-ingat kayo sa mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na mahilig magpalakad-lakad na suot ang kanilang mahahabang damit at gustung-gustong binabati nang may paggalang sa mga pamilihan. 39 Ang gusto nila ay ang mga natatanging upuan sa mga sinagoga at ang mga upuang pandangal sa mga handaan. 40 Inuubos nila ang kabuhayan ng mga biyuda at ang mahahaba nilang dasal ay mga pagkukunwari lamang. Dahil diyan, mas mabigat na parusa ang igagawad sa kanila.”
Ang Kaloob ng Biyuda(R)
41 Naupo si Jesus sa tapat ng hulugan ng mga kaloob sa Templo, at pinagmasdan ang mga naghuhulog ng salapi. Napansin niyang maraming mayayaman ang naghuhulog ng malalaking halaga. 42 Lumapit naman ang isang biyudang dukha at naghulog ng dalawang salaping tanso. 43 Tinawag ni Jesus ang kanyang mga alagad at sinabi sa kanila, “Sinasabi ko sa inyo, ang inihandog ng biyudang iyon ay higit na marami kaysa sa inihulog nilang lahat. 44 Sapagkat ang lahat ay nagkaloob ng bahagi lamang ng kanilang kayamanan, ngunit ang ibinigay ng babaing iyon, bagama't siya'y dukha, ay ang buo niyang ikinabubuhay.”

The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers(A)
12 Then (B)He began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a place for the wine vat and built a tower. And he leased it to [a]vinedressers and went into a far country. 2 Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that he might receive some of the fruit of the vineyard from the vinedressers. 3 And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again he sent them another servant, [b]and at him they threw stones, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated. 5 And again he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, (C)beating some and killing some. 6 Therefore still having one son, his beloved, he also sent him to them last, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those [c]vinedressers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 So they took him and (D)killed him and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 “Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vinedressers, and give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not even read this Scripture:

Has become the chief cornerstone.

And it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
12 (F)And they sought to lay hands on Him, but feared the multitude, for they knew He had spoken the parable against them. So they left Him and went away.
The Pharisees: Is It Lawful to Pay Taxes to Caesar?(G)
13 (H)Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words. 14 When they had come, they said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and [d]care about no one; for You do not [e]regard the person of men, but teach the (I)way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?”
But He, knowing their (J)hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it.” 16 So they brought it.
And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”
17 And Jesus answered and said to them, [f]“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to (K)God the things that are God’s.”
And they marveled at Him.
The Sadducees: What About the Resurrection?(L)
18 (M)Then some Sadducees, (N)who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying: 19 “Teacher, (O)Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, and leaves his wife behind, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, he left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and he died; nor did he leave any offspring. And the third likewise. 22 So the seven had her and left no offspring. Last of all the woman died also. 23 Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife.”
24 Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore [g]mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but (P)are like angels in heaven. 26 But concerning the dead, that they (Q)rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, (R)‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly [h]mistaken.”
The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?(S)
28 (T)Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, [i]perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the [j]first commandment of all?”
29 Jesus answered him, “The [k]first of all the commandments is: (U)‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall (V)love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ [l]This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: (W)‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than (X)these.”
32 So the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, (Y)and there is no other but He. 33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, [m]with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, (Z)is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
(AA)But after that no one dared question Him.
Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?(AB)
35 (AC)Then Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? 36 For David himself said (AD)by the Holy Spirit:
(AE)‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’
37 Therefore David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his (AF)Son?”
And the common people heard Him gladly.
Beware of the Scribes(AG)
38 Then (AH)He said to them in His teaching, (AI)“Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, (AJ)love greetings in the marketplaces, 39 the (AK)best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, 40 (AL)who devour widows’ houses, and [n]for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”
The Widow’s Two Mites(AM)
41 (AN)Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money (AO)into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two [o]mites, which make a [p]quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that (AP)this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, (AQ)her whole livelihood.”
