Good News Translation
The Parable of the Tenants in the Vineyard(A)
12 (B)Then Jesus spoke to them in parables: “Once there was a man who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a hole for the wine press, and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to tenants and left home on a trip. 2 When the time came to gather the grapes, he sent a slave to the tenants to receive from them his share of the harvest. 3 The tenants grabbed the slave, beat him, and sent him back without a thing. 4 Then the owner sent another slave; the tenants beat him over the head and treated him shamefully. 5 The owner sent another slave, and they killed him; and they treated many others the same way, beating some and killing others. 6 The only one left to send was the man's own dear son. Last of all, then, he sent his son to the tenants. ‘I am sure they will respect my son,’ he said. 7 But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the owner's son. Come on, let's kill him, and his property will be ours!’ 8 So they grabbed the son and killed him and threw his body out of the vineyard.
9 “What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do?” asked Jesus. “He will come and kill those tenants and turn the vineyard over to others. 10 (C)Surely you have read this scripture?
‘The stone which the builders rejected as worthless
turned out to be the most important of all.
11 This was done by the Lord;
what a wonderful sight it is!’”
12 The Jewish leaders tried to arrest Jesus, because they knew that he had told this parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd, so they left him and went away.
The Question about Paying Taxes(D)
13 Some Pharisees and some members of Herod's party were sent to Jesus to trap him with questions. 14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you tell the truth, without worrying about what people think. You pay no attention to anyone's status, but teach the truth about God's will for people. Tell us, is it against our Law to pay taxes to the Roman Emperor? Should we pay them or not?”
15 But Jesus saw through their trick and answered, “Why are you trying to trap me? Bring a silver coin, and let me see it.”
16 They brought him one, and he asked, “Whose face and name are these?”
“The Emperor's,” they answered.
17 So Jesus said, “Well, then, pay to the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and pay to God what belongs to God.”
And they were amazed at Jesus.
The Question about Rising from Death(E)
18 (F)Then some Sadducees, who say that people will not rise from death, came to Jesus and said, 19 (G)“Teacher, Moses wrote this law for us: ‘If a man dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man's brother must marry the widow so that they can have children who will be considered the dead man's children.’ 20 Once there were seven brothers; the oldest got married and died without having children. 21 Then the second one married the woman, and he also died without having children. The same thing happened to the third brother, 22 and then to the rest: all seven brothers married the woman and died without having children. Last of all, the woman died. 23 Now, when all the dead rise to life on the day of resurrection, whose wife will she be? All seven of them had married her.”
24 Jesus answered them, “How wrong you are! And do you know why? It is because you don't know the Scriptures or God's power. 25 For when the dead rise to life, they will be like the angels in heaven and will not marry. 26 (H)Now, as for the dead being raised: haven't you ever read in the Book of Moses the passage about the burning bush? There it is written that God said to Moses, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ 27 He is the God of the living, not of the dead. You are completely wrong!”
The Great Commandment(I)
28 A teacher of the Law was there who heard the discussion. He saw that Jesus had given the Sadducees a good answer, so he came to him with a question: “Which commandment is the most important of all?”
29 (J)Jesus replied, “The most important one is this: ‘Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 (K)The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment more important than these two.”
32 (L)The teacher of the Law said to Jesus, “Well done, Teacher! It is true, as you say, that only the Lord is God and that there is no other god but he. 33 (M)And you must love God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength; and you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. It is more important to obey these two commandments than to offer on the altar animals and other sacrifices to God.”
34 (N)Jesus noticed how wise his answer was, and so he told him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
After this nobody dared to ask Jesus any more questions.
The Question about the Messiah(O)
35 As Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he asked the question, “How can the teachers of the Law say that the Messiah will be the descendant of David? 36 (P)The Holy Spirit inspired David to say:
‘The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit here at my right side
until I put your enemies under your feet.’
37 David himself called him ‘Lord’; so how can the Messiah be David's descendant?”
Jesus Warns against the Teachers of the Law(Q)
A large crowd was listening to Jesus gladly. 38 As he taught them, he said, “Watch out for the teachers of the Law, who like to walk around in their long robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplace, 39 who choose the reserved seats in the synagogues and the best places at feasts. 40 They take advantage of widows and rob them of their homes, and then make a show of saying long prayers. Their punishment will be all the worse!”
The Widow's Offering(R)
41 As Jesus sat near the Temple treasury, he watched the people as they dropped in their money. Many rich men dropped in a lot of money; 42 then a poor widow came along and dropped in two little copper coins, worth about a penny. 43 He called his disciples together and said to them, “I tell you that this poor widow put more in the offering box than all the others. 44 For the others put in what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, put in all she had—she gave all she had to live on.”

12 耶穌就用比喻對他們說：「有人開墾了一個葡萄園，四周圍上籬笆，挖了一個醡酒池，蓋了一座守望樓，租給園戶，就出外遠行去了。 2 到了時候，他打發一個僕人到園戶那裏，要向他們收葡萄園的果子。 3 他們拿住他，打了他，叫他空手回去。 4 園主再打發一個僕人到他們那裏。他們打傷他的頭，並且侮辱他。 5 園主又打發一個僕人去，他們就殺了他。以後又打發好些僕人去，有的被他們打了，有的被他們殺了。 6 園主還有一位，是他的愛子，最後又打發他去，說：『他們會尊敬我的兒子。』 7 那些園戶卻彼此說：『這是承受產業的。來，我們殺了他，產業就歸我們了！』 8 於是他們拿住他，殺了他，把他扔出葡萄園。 9 這樣，葡萄園主要怎麼做呢？他要來除滅那些園戶，將葡萄園轉給別人。

12 他們看出這比喻是指着他們說的，就想要捉拿他，但是懼怕眾人，於是離開他走了。
納稅給凱撒的問題(B)
13 後來，他們打發幾個法利賽人和希律黨人到耶穌那裏，要用他自己的話陷害他。 14 他們來了，就對他說：「老師，我們知道你是誠實的，無論誰你都一視同仁；因為你不看人的面子，而是誠誠實實傳 神的道。納稅給凱撒合不合法？ 15 我們該不該納？」耶穌知道他們的虛偽，就對他們說：「你們為甚麼試探我？拿一個銀幣來給我看。」 16 他們就拿了來。耶穌問他們：「這像和這名號是誰的？」他們對他說：「是凱撒的。」 17 耶穌對他們說：「凱撒的歸凱撒； 神的歸 神。」他們對他非常驚訝。
復活的問題(C)
18 撒都該人來見耶穌。他們說沒有復活這回事，於是問耶穌： 19 「老師，摩西為我們寫下這話：『某人的哥哥若死了，撇下妻子，沒有孩子，他該娶哥哥的妻子，為哥哥生子立後。』 20 那麼，有兄弟七人，第一個娶了妻，死了，沒有留下孩子。 21 第二個娶了她，也死了，沒有留下孩子。第三個也是這樣。 22 那七個人都沒有留下孩子。最後，那婦人也死了。 23 在復活的時候，[a]她是哪一個的妻子呢？因為他們七個人都娶過她。」 24 耶穌說：「你們錯了，不正是因為不明白聖經，也不知道 神的大能嗎？ 25 當人從死人中復活後，也不娶也不嫁，而是像天上的天使一樣。 26 論到死人復活，你們沒有念過摩西書中《荊棘篇》上所記載的嗎？ 神對摩西說：『我是亞伯拉罕的 神，以撒的 神，雅各的 神。』 27 神不是死人的 神，而是活人的 神。你們是大錯了。」
最大的誡命(D)
28 有一個文士來，聽見他們的辯論，知道耶穌回答得好，就問他說：「誡命中哪一條是第一呢？」 29 耶穌回答：「第一是：『以色列啊，你要聽，主—我們的 神是獨一的主。 30 你要盡心、盡性、盡意、盡力愛主—你的 神。』 31 第二是：『要愛鄰[b]如己。』再沒有比這兩條誡命更大的了。」 32 那文士對耶穌說：「好，老師，你說得對， 神是一位，除了他以外，再沒有別的了； 33 並且盡心、盡智、盡力愛他，又愛鄰如己，要比一切燔祭和祭祀好得多。」 34 耶穌見他回答得有智慧，就對他說：「你離 神的國不遠了。」從此以後，沒有人敢再問他甚麼。
基督與大衛的關係(E)
35 耶穌在聖殿裏教導人，問他們說：「文士怎麼說基督是大衛的後裔呢？ 36 大衛被聖靈感動，說：
『主對我主說：
你坐在我的右邊，
等我把你的仇敵放在你腳下[c]。』
37 大衛親自稱他為主，他怎麼又是大衛的後裔呢？」一大羣的人都喜歡聽他。
譴責文士(F)
38 他在教導的時候，說：「你們要防備文士。他們好穿長袍走來走去，喜歡人們在街市上向他們問安， 39 又喜愛會堂裏的高位，宴席上的首座。 40 他們侵吞寡婦的家產，假意作很長的禱告。這些人要受更重的懲罰！」
寡婦的奉獻(G)
41 耶穌面向聖殿銀庫坐着，看眾人怎樣把錢投入銀庫。有好些財主投了許多錢。 42 有一個窮寡婦來，投了兩個小文錢[d]，就是一個大文錢[e]。 43 耶穌叫門徒來，對他們說：「我實在告訴你們，這窮寡婦投入銀庫裏的比眾人所投的更多。 44 因為，眾人都是拿有餘的捐獻，但這寡婦，雖然自己不足，卻把她一生所有的全都投進去了。」

12 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

12 यीशु दृष्टान्त कथाओं का सहारा लेते हुए उनसे कहने लगा, “एक व्यक्ति ने अगूंरों का एक बगीचा लगाया और उसके चारों तरफ़ दीवार खड़ी कर दी। फिर अंगूर के रस के लिए एक कुण्ड बनाया और फिर उसे कुछ किसानों को किराये पर दे कर, यात्रा पर निकल पड़ा।
2 “फिर अंगूर पकने की ऋतु में उसने उन किसानों के पास अपना एक दास भेजा ताकि वह किसानों से बगीचे में जो अंगूर हुए हैं, उनमें से उसका हिस्सा ले आये। 3 किन्तु उन्होंने पकड़ कर उस दास की पिटाई की और खाली हाथों वहाँ से भगा दिया। 4 उसने एक और दास उनके पास भेजा। उन्होंने उसके सिर पर वार करते हुए उसका बुरी तरह अपमान किया। 5 उसने फिर एक और दास भेजा जिसकी उन्होंने हत्या कर डाली। उसने ऐसे ही और भी अनेक दास भेजे जिनमें से उन्होंने कुछ की पिटाई की और कितनों को मार डाला।
6 “अब उसके पास भेजने को अपना प्यारा पुत्र ही बचा था। आखिरकार उसने उसे भी उनके पास यह कहते हुए भेज दिया, ‘वे मेरे पुत्र का तो सम्मान करेंगे ही।’
7 “उन किसानों ने एक दूसरे से कहा, ‘यह तो उसका उत्तराधिकारी है। आओ इसे मार डालें। इससे उत्तराधिकार हमारा हो जायेगा।’ 8 इस तरह उन्होंने उसे पकड़ कर मार डाला और अंगूरों के बगीचे से बाहर फेंक दिया।
9 “इस पर अंगूर के बगीचे का मालिक क्या करेगा? वह आकर उन किसानों को मार डालेगा और बगीचा दूसरों को दे देगा। 10 क्या तुमने शास्त्र का यह वचन नहीं पढ़ा है:
‘वह पत्थर जिसे कारीगरों ने बेकार माना,
वही कोने का पत्थर बन गया।’
11 यह प्रभु ने किया,
जो हमारी दृष्टि में अद्भुत है।’”(A)
12 वे यह समझ गये थे कि उसने जो दृष्टान्त कहा है, उनके विरोध में था। सो वे उसे बंदी बनाने का कोई रास्ता ढूँढने लगे, पर लोगों से वे डरते थे इसलिये उसे छोड़ कर चले गये।
यीशु को छलने का प्रयत्न
(मत्ती 22:15-22; लूका 20:20-26)
13 तब उन्होंने कुछ फरीसियों और हेरोदियों को उसे बातों में फसाने के लिये उसके पास भेजा। 14 वे उसके पास आये और बोले, “गुरु, हम जानते हैं कि तू बहुत ईमानदार है और तू इस बात की तनिक भी परवाह नहीं करता कि दूसरे लोग क्या सोचते हैं। क्योंकि तू मनुष्यों की है सियत या रुतवे पर ध्यान दिये बिना प्रभु के मार्ग की सच्ची शिक्षा देता है। सो बता कैसर को कर देना उचित है या नहीं? हम उसे कर चुकायें या न चुकायें?”
15 यीशु उनकी चाल समझ गया। उसने उनसे कहा, “तुम मुझे क्यों परखते हो? एक दीनार लाओ ताकि मैं उसे देख सकूँ।” 16 सो वे दीनार ले आये। फिर यीशु ने उनसे पूछा, “इस पर किस का चेहरा और नाम अंकित है?” उन्होंने कहा, “कैसर का।”
17 तब यीशु ने उन्हें बताया, “जो कैसर का है, उसे कैसर को दो और जो परमेश्वर का है, उसे परमेश्वर को दो।” तब वे बहुत चकित हुए।
सदूकियों की चाल

18 फिर कुछ सदूकी, (जो पुनर्जीवन को नहीं मानते) उसके पास आये और उन्होंने उससे पूछा, 19 “हे गुरु, मूसा ने हमारे लिये लिखा है कि यदि किसी का भाई मर जाये और उसकी पत्नी के कोई बच्चा न हो तो उसके भाई को चाहिये कि वह उसे ब्याह ले और फिर अपने भाई के वंश को बढ़ाये। 20 एक बार की बात है कि सात भाई थे। सबसे बड़े भाई ने ब्याह किया और बिना कोई बच्चा छोड़े वह मर गया। 21 फिर दूसरे भाई ने उस स्त्री से विवाह किया, पर वह भी बिना किसी संतान के ही मर गया। तीसरे भाई ने भी वैसा ही किया। 22 सातों में से किसी ने भी कोई बच्चा नहीं छोड़ा। आखिरकार वह स्त्री भी मर गयी। 23 मौत के बाद जब वे लोग फिर जी उठेंगे, तो बता वह स्त्री किस की पत्नी होगी? क्योंकि वे सातों ही उसे अपनी पत्नी के रूप में रख चुके थे।”
24 यीशु ने उनसे कहा, “तुम न तो शास्त्रों को जानते हो, और न ही परमेश्वर की शक्ति को। निश्चय ही क्या यही कारण नहीं है जिससे तुम भटक गये हो? 25 क्योंकि वे लोग जब मरे हुओं में से जी उठेंगे तो उनके विवाह नहीं होंगे, बल्कि वे स्वर्गदूतों के समान स्वर्ग में होंगे। 26 मरे हुओं के जी उठने के विषय में क्या तुमने मूसा की पुस्तक में झाड़ी के बारे में जो लिखा गया है, नहीं पढ़ा? वहाँ परमेश्वर ने मूसा से कहा था, ‘मैं इब्राहीम का परमेश्वर हूँ, इसहाक का परमेश्वर हूँ और याकूब का परमेश्वर हूँ।’ (B) 27 वह मरे हुओं का नहीं, बल्कि जीवितों का परमेश्वर है। तुम लोग बहुत बड़ी भूल में पड़े हो!”
सबसे बड़ा आदेश
(मत्ती 22:34-40; लूका 10:25-28)
28 फिर एक यहूदी धर्मशास्त्री आया और उसने उन्हें वाद-विवाद करते सुना। यह देख कर कि यीशु ने उन्हें किस अच्छे ढंग से उत्तर दिया है, उसने यीशु से पूछा, “सबसे अधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण आदेश कौन सा है?”
29 यीशु ने उत्तर दिया, “सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण आदेश यह है: ‘हे इस्राएल, सुन! केवल हमारा परमेश्वर ही एकमात्र प्रभु है। 30 समूचे मन से, समूचे जीवन से, समूची बुद्धि से और अपनी सारी शक्ति से तुझे प्रभु अपने परमेश्वर से प्रेम करना चाहिये।’(C) 31 दूसरा आदेश यह है: ‘अपने पड़ोसी से वैसे ही प्रेम कर जैसे तू अपने आप से करता है।’(D) इन आदेशों से बड़ा और कोई आदेश नहीं है।”
32 इस पर यहूदी धर्मशास्त्री ने उससे कहा, “गुरु, तूने ठीक कहा। तेरा यह कहना ठीक है कि परमेश्वर एक है, उसके अलावा और दूसरा कोई नहीं है। 33 अपने समूचे मन से, सारी समझ-बूझ से, सारी शक्ति से परमेश्वर को प्रेम करना और अपने समान अपने पड़ोसी से प्यार रखना, सारी बलियों और समर्पित भेटों से जिनका विधान किया गया है, अधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण है।”
34 जब यीशु ने देखा कि उस व्यक्ति ने समझदारी के साथ उत्तर दिया है तो वह उससे बोला, “तू परमेश्वर के राज्य से दूर नहीं है।” इसके बाद किसी और ने उससे कोई और प्रश्न पूछने का साहस नहीं किया।
क्या मसीह दाऊद का पुत्र या दाऊद का प्रभु है?

37 दाऊद स्वयं उसे ‘प्रभु’ कहता है। फिर मसीह दाऊद का पुत्र कैसे हो सकता है?” एक बड़ी भीड़ प्रसन्नता के साथ उसे सुन रही थी।

38 अपने उपदेश में उसने कहा, “धर्मशास्त्रियों से सावधान रहो। वे अपने लम्बे चोगे पहने हुए इधर उधर घूमना पसंद करते हैं। बाजारों में अपने को नमस्कार करवाना उन्हें भाता है। 39 और आराधनालयों में वे महत्वपूर्ण आसनों पर बैठना चाहते हैं। वे जेवनारों में भी अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण स्थान पाने की इच्छा रखते हैं। 40 वे विधवाओं की सम्पति हड़प जाते हैं। दिखावे के लिये वे लम्बी-लम्बी प्रार्थनाएँ बोलते हैं। इन लोगों को कड़े से कड़ा दण्ड मिलेगा।”
सच्चा दान
(लूका 21:1-4)
41 यीशु दान-पात्र के सामने बैठा हुआ देख रहा था कि लोग दान पात्र में किस तरह धन डाल रहे हैं। बहुत से धनी लोगों ने बहुत सा धन डाला। 42 फिर वहाँ एक गरीब विधवा आयी और उसने उसमें दो दमड़ियाँ डालीं जो एक पैसे के बराबर भी नहीं थीं।
43 फिर उसने अपने चेलों को पास बुलाया और उनसे कहा, “मैं तुमसे सत्य कहता हूँ, धनवानों द्वारा दान-पात्र में डाले गये प्रचुर दान से इस निर्धन विधवा का यह दान कहीं महान है। 44 क्योंकि उन्होंने जो कुछ उनके पास फालतु था, उसमें से दान दिया, किन्तु इसने अपनी दीनता में जो कुछ इसके पास था सब कुछ दे डाला। इसके पास इतना सा ही था जो इसके जीवन का सहारा था!”
