⁶ until there was only one left—his son whom he loved dearly. The owner finally sent him, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect my son.’

Jesus Christ Is God’s Son

1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. ² And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

³⁴ I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.^[a]”

¹⁷ And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

⁹ And they sang a new song with these words:

¹¹ Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. ¹² And they sang in a mighty chorus:

¹³ And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:

¹¹ And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.

⁹ God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.

⁶ And when he brought his supreme^[a] Son into the world, God said,^[b]

²³ so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.

³⁵ The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands.
