⁴⁴ For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her ^(A)poverty has put in everything she had, all ^(B)she had to live on.”

² for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and ^(A)their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. ³ For they gave ^(B)according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord,

^8 (A)She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand ^(B)for burial.

^68 (A)Some of the heads of families, when they came to the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem, made freewill offerings for the house of God, to erect it on its site. ⁶⁹ According to their ability they gave to ^(B)the treasury of the work 61,000 darics^[a] of gold, 5,000 minas^[b] of silver, and 100 priests' garments.

¹⁷ But ^(A)if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet ^(B)closes his heart against him, ^(C)how does God's love abide in him?

² and he saw a poor widow put in two ^(A)small copper coins.^{[a] 3} And he said, “Truly, I tell you, ^(B)this poor widow has put in more than all of them. ⁴ For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her ^(C)poverty put in all ^(D)she had to live on.”

¹⁰ And all the princes and all the people rejoiced and brought their tax and dropped it into the chest until they had finished.^{[a] 11} And whenever the chest was brought to the king's officers by the Levites, when they saw that there was much money in it, the king's secretary and the officer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and take it and return it to its place. Thus they did day after day, and collected money in abundance. ¹² And the king and Jehoiada gave it to those who had charge of the work of the house of the Lord, and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of the Lord, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the house of the Lord. ¹³ So those who were engaged in the work labored, and the repairing went forward in their hands, and they restored the house of God to its proper condition and strengthened it. ¹⁴ And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, and with it ^(A)were made utensils for the house of the Lord, both for the service and for the burnt offerings, and dishes for incense and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the Lord regularly all the days of Jehoiada.

⁷⁰ Now some of the heads of fathers' houses gave to the work. The ^(A)governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics^[a] of gold, 50 basins, 30 priests' garments and 500 minas^[b] of silver.^{[c] 71} And some of the heads of fathers' houses gave into the treasury of the work 20,000 darics of gold and 2,200 minas of silver. ^72 (B)And what the rest of the people gave was 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas of silver, and 67 priests' garments.

⁷ Then Josiah contributed to the lay people, as Passover offerings for all who were present, lambs and young goats from the flock to the number of 30,000, and 3,000 bulls; ^(A)these were from the king's possessions. ⁸ And his officials contributed willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. ^(B)Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the chief officers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings 2,600 Passover lambs and 300 bulls.
