^35 (A)And Jesus responded and began saying, as He ^(B)taught in the temple area, “How is it that the scribes say that the ^[a]Christ is the ^(C)son of David?

⁴⁹ Every day I was with you ^(A)within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me; but this has taken place so that the Scriptures will be fulfilled.”

²⁰ And He ^(A)rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and ^(B)sat down; and the eyes of all the people in the synagogue were intently directed at Him.

⁴⁷ And ^(A)He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people ^(B)were trying to put Him to death,

Jesus’ Authority Questioned

20 ^(A)On one of the days while ^(B)He was teaching the people in the temple and ^(C)preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders ^(D)confronted Him,

³⁷ Now ^[a]during the day He was ^(A)teaching in the temple, but ^[b](B)at evening He would go out and spend the night on ^(C)the ^[c]mountain that is called ^[d]Olivet.

¹⁴ But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple area, and began to ^(A)teach.
