The First Commandment
28 One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 Then the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that ‘he is one, and besides him there is no other’; 33 and ‘to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength,’ and ‘to love one’s neighbor as oneself,’—this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any question.
The Question about David’s Son
35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah[a] is the son of David? 36 David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared,
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.”’
37 David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

28 (A)Uno degli scribi che li aveva uditi discutere, visto che[a] egli aveva risposto bene a loro, si avvicinò e gli domandò: «Qual è il primo di tutti i comandamenti?» 29 Gesù [gli] rispose: «Il primo [di tutti i comandamenti] è: “Ascolta, Israele: il Signore, nostro Dio, è l’unico Signore[b]. 30 Ama dunque il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta l’anima tua, con tutta la mente tua e con tutta la forza tua”[c]. [Questo è il primo comandamento.] 31 Il secondo è questo[d]: “Ama il tuo prossimo come te stesso”[e]. Non c’è nessun altro comandamento maggiore di questi». 32 Lo scriba gli disse: «Bene, Maestro! Tu hai detto, secondo verità, che egli è l’unico[f] e che non v’è alcun altro all’infuori di lui[g]; 33 e che amarlo con tutto il cuore, con tutto l’intelletto, [con tutta l’anima,] con tutta la forza, e amare il prossimo come se stesso, è molto più di tutti gli olocausti e i sacrifici». 34 Gesù, vedendo che aveva risposto con intelligenza, gli disse: «Tu non sei lontano dal regno di Dio». E nessuno osava più interrogarlo.

35 (B)Gesù, mentre insegnava nel tempio, disse: «Come mai gli scribi dicono che il Cristo è Figlio di Davide? 36 [Poiché] Davide stesso disse per lo Spirito Santo:
“Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: ‘Siedi alla mia destra, finché io abbia messo i tuoi nemici sotto i tuoi piedi’”[h].
37 Davide stesso [dunque] lo chiama Signore; come può quindi essere suo figlio?» E {la} gran folla lo ascoltava con piacere.

28 Da trat einer der Schriftgelehrten herzu, der ihrem Wortwechsel zugehört hatte, und weil er sah, dass er ihnen gut geantwortet hatte, fragte er ihn: Welches ist das erste Gebot unter allen?
29 Jesus aber antwortete ihm: Das erste Gebot unter allen ist: »Höre, Israel, der Herr, unser Gott, ist Herr allein;
30 und du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben mit deinem ganzen Herzen und mit deiner ganzen Seele und mit deinem ganzen Denken und mit deiner ganzen Kraft!«[a] Dies ist das erste Gebot.
31 Und das zweite ist [ihm] vergleichbar, nämlich dies: »Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst!«[b] Größer als diese ist kein anderes Gebot.
32 Und der Schriftgelehrte sprach zu ihm: Recht so, Meister! Es ist in Wahrheit so, wie du sagst, dass es nur einen Gott gibt und keinen anderen außer ihm;
33 und ihn zu lieben mit ganzem Herzen und mit ganzem Verständnis und mit ganzer Seele und mit aller Kraft und den Nächsten zu lieben wie sich selbst, das ist mehr als alle Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer!
34 Und da Jesus sah, dass er verständig geantwortet hatte, sprach er zu ihm: Du bist nicht fern vom Reich Gottes! Und es getraute sich niemand mehr, ihn weiter zu fragen.
Wessen Sohn ist der Christus? Warnung vor den Schriftgelehrten
35 Und Jesus begann und sprach, während er im Tempel lehrte: Wie können die Schriftgelehrten sagen, dass der Christus Davids Sohn ist?
36 David selbst sprach doch im Heiligen Geist: »Der Herr sprach zu meinem Herrn: Setze dich zu meiner Rechten, bis ich deine Feinde hinlege als Schemel für deine Füße!«[c]
37 David selbst nennt ihn also Herr; wie kann er dann sein Sohn sein? Und die große Volksmenge hörte ihm mit Freude zu.

28 Volt ott egy törvénytanító is, aki végighallgatta a beszélgetésüket. Mivel látta, hogy Jézus jól megfelelt a szadduceusoknak, megkérdezte tőle, hogy melyik a legfontosabb parancs a Törvényben.
29 Jézus így felelt: „A legfontosabb parancs ez: »Halld meg, Izráel népe! Istenünk, az Örökkévaló az egyetlen Isten! 30 Szeresd hát az Örökkévalót, Istenedet teljes szíveddel, egész lelkeddel, teljes értelmeddel és minden erőddel!«[a] 31 A második legfontosabb parancs pedig ez: »Úgy szeresd embertársadat,[b] mint saját magadat!«[c] Ezeknél nincs nagyobb parancs.”
32 A törvénytanító így válaszolt: „Jól mondtad, Mester, hogy az Örökkévaló az egyetlen Isten. Valóban nincs más rajta kívül. 33 Minden véres- és égőáldozatnál fontosabb, hogy az Örökkévalót, Istenünket egész szívünkkel, gondolkodásunkkal és minden erőnkkel szeressük, meg az is, hogy úgy szeressük embertársainkat, mint saját magunkat.”
34 Jézus látta, hogy a törvénytanító belátásra jutott, és ezt mondta neki: „Nem vagy messze Isten Királyságától.” Ezután senki sem mert több kérdést feltenni Jézusnak.
A Messiás Dávidnak a Fia és az Ura(B)
35 Amikor Jézus a Templom területén tanított, felvetett egy kérdést: „Hogyan mondhatják a törvénytanítók, hogy a Messiás Dávid fia? 36 Hiszen maga Dávid mondta a Szent Szellem által:
»Így szólt Uramhoz az Örökkévaló:
Ülj mellém jobb felől,
amíg ellenségeidet
hatalmad[d] alá kényszerítem!«[e]
37 Dávid Urának nevezi a Messiást, de akkor hogyan lehet a Messiás Dávidnak a fia?”
A nagy sokaság örömmel hallgatta Jézust.

Le plus grand commandement(A)
28 Un des spécialistes de la Loi s’approcha de lui ; il avait entendu cette discussion et avait remarqué avec quel à-propos Jésus avait répondu. Il lui demanda : Quel est le commandement le plus important de tous ?
29 Jésus répondit : Voici le commandement le plus important : Ecoute, Israël, le Seigneur est notre Dieu, il est le seul Dieu ; 30 tu aimeras donc le Seigneur, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta pensée et de toute ton énergie[a]. 31 Et voici celui qui vient en second rang : Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même[b]. Il n’y a pas de commandement plus important que ceux-là.
32 – C’est bien, Maître, lui dit le spécialiste de la Loi, tu as dit vrai : il n’y a qu’un seul Dieu[c], il n’y en a pas d’autre que lui[d] : 33 l’aimer de tout son cœur, de toute son intelligence et de toute son énergie[e], ainsi qu’aimer son prochain comme soi-même[f], c’est bien plus important que tous les holocaustes[g] et tous les sacrifices.
34 Jésus, voyant qu’il avait répondu avec intelligence, lui dit : Tu n’es pas loin du royaume de Dieu.
Après cela, personne n’osa plus lui poser de question.
Controverse sur l’identité du Messie(B)
35 Pendant qu’il enseignait dans la cour du Temple, Jésus demanda : Comment les spécialistes de la Loi peuvent-ils dire que le Messie doit être un descendant de David ? 36 David lui-même, inspiré par le Saint-Esprit, a déclaré :
Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur :
Viens siéger à ma droite[h]
jusqu’à ce que j’aie mis |tes ennemis |à terre sous tes pieds[i].
37 Si donc David lui-même appelle le Messie « Seigneur », comment celui-ci peut-il être son descendant ?
Il y avait là une foule nombreuse qui écoutait Jésus avec un vif plaisir.
