13 (A)[a]And they sent unto him certain of the Pharisees, and of the Herodians, that they might take him in his talk.

14 And when they came, they said unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou [b]considerest not the person of men, but teachest the [c]way of God truly, Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

15 Should we give it, or should we not give it? but he knew their hypocrisy, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.

16 So they brought it, and he said unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? and they said unto him, Caesar’s.

17 Then Jesus answered, and said unto them, (B)Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God, those that are God’s: and they marveled at him.
