Jesus Enters Jerusalem as a King(A)

11 As Jesus and his ·followers [disciples] were coming closer to Jerusalem, they came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany near the Mount of Olives. From there Jesus sent two of his ·followers [disciples] and said to them, “Go to the town ·you can see there [ahead of you; or opposite you C either Bethphage, Bethany, or another village]. When you enter it, you will ·quickly [immediately] find a ·colt [young donkey] tied, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here to me. If anyone asks you why you are doing this, tell him ·its Master [the Lord; or its Owner] needs the colt and ·he will send it at once [or he will return it soon; C “he” could be either Jesus or the colt’s owner].”

They went into the town, found a colt tied in the street near the door of a house, and untied it. Some people were standing there and asked, “What are you doing? Why are you untying that colt?” They answered the way Jesus told them to answer, and the people let them take the colt.

They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it, and Jesus sat on it [Zech. 9:9]. Many people spread their coats on the road. Others cut [leafy] branches in the fields and spread them on the road. The people were walking ahead of Jesus and behind him, shouting,

“·Praise God! [L Hosanna! C A Hebrew word originally used in praying for help, but by this time a joyful shout of praise to God.]
·God bless [Blessed is] the One who comes in the name of the Lord [Ps. 118:26]!
10 ·God bless [Blessed is] the coming kingdom of our father David!
·Praise to God in heaven [L Hosanna in the highest]!”

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple. After he had looked [around] at everything, since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with ·the twelve apostles [the Twelve].

12 The next day as Jesus was leaving Bethany, he became hungry. 13 Seeing a fig tree in leaf from far away, he went to see if it had any figs on it. But he found no figs, only leaves, because it was not the right season for figs. 14 So Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And Jesus’ ·followers [disciples] heard him say this.

Jesus Goes to the Temple(B)

15 When Jesus ·returned [came] to Jerusalem, he went into the ·Temple [temple complex; C the large temple area, not the inner building where only the priests could go] and began to ·throw [drive] out those who were buying and selling there. He turned over the tables of ·those who were exchanging different kinds of money [L  the moneychangers], and he upset the benches of those who were selling doves [or pigeons; C moneychangers provided particular coins for the temple tax; doves or pigeons were sold for sacrifices; Lev. 5:7]. 16 Jesus refused to allow anyone to carry goods through the Temple courts. 17 Then he taught the people, saying, “It is written in the Scriptures, ‘My ·Temple [L House] will be called a house for prayer for people from all nations’ [Is. 56:7]. But you ·are changing God’s house [L have made it] into a ·‘hideout for robbers’ [T den of thieves’; Jer. 7:11].”

18 The ·leading [T chief] priests and the ·teachers of the law [scribes] heard all this and began trying to find a way to kill Jesus. They were afraid of him, because all the people were amazed at his teaching. 19 That evening, Jesus and his ·followers[a] [disciples] left the city.

The Power of Faith(C)

20 The next morning as Jesus was passing by with his ·followers [disciples], they saw the fig tree ·dry and dead [withered], even to the roots. 21 Peter ·remembered the tree and said to Jesus, “·Teacher [L Rabbi], look! The fig tree you cursed is ·dry and dead [withered]!”

22 Jesus answered, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘·Go [Be lifted up], fall into the sea.’ And if you have no doubts in your ·mind [heart] and believe that what you say will happen, ·God will do it for you [it will be done for you]. 24 So I tell you to believe that you have received ·the things [everything] you ask for in prayer, and ·God will give them to you [you will receive them]. 25 When you ·are praying [L stand praying], if you ·are angry with [have anything against] someone, forgive him so that your Father in heaven will also forgive your ·sins [transgressions; trespasses]. |26 But if you don’t forgive other people, then your Father in heaven will not forgive your ·sins [transgressions; trespasses].|”[b]

Leaders Doubt Jesus’ Authority(D)

27 Jesus and his ·followers [disciples] went again to Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking in the Temple [complex; area; courts; see 11:15], the ·leading [T chief] priests, the ·teachers of the law [scribes], and the elders came to him. 28 They said to him, “What authority do you have to do these things? Who gave you this authority?”

29 Jesus answered, “I will ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you what authority I have to do these things. 30 Tell me: When John baptized people, was that authority from ·God [L heaven; C a reverential Jewish way of referring to God] or just from ·other people [human beings]?”

31 They argued about Jesus’ question, saying, “If we answer, ‘John’s baptism was from ·God [L heaven],’ Jesus will say, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘It was from ·other people [human beings],’ the crowd will be against us.” (These leaders were afraid of the people, because all the people believed that John was a prophet.)

33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”

Jesus said to them, “Then I won’t tell you what authority I have to do these things.”

Ang Matagumpay na Pagpasok sa Jerusalem(A)

11 Narating nina Jesus ang mga bayan ng Bethfage at Bethania, malapit sa may Bundok ng mga Olibo. Nang papalapit na sila sa Jerusalem, pinauna ni Jesus ang dalawa sa mga alagad at sinabi sa kanila, “Pumunta kayo sa susunod na nayon. Pagpasok na pagpasok, makikita ninyo ang isang batang asno na hindi pa nasasakyan ninuman. Kalagan ninyo iyon at dalhin dito. Kapag may nagtanong kung bakit ninyo kinakalagan iyon, sabihin ninyong iyon ay kailangan ng Panginoon[a] at ibabalik din niya agad.”

Kaya't lumakad ang dalawang alagad at nakita nga nila ang batang asno sa tabi ng daan, nakatali ito sa may pinto ng isang bahay. Nang kinakalagan na nila ang hayop, tinanong sila ng ilang nakatayo roon, “Bakit ninyo kinakalagan iyan?”

Sumagot sila gaya ng bilin ni Jesus, at hinayaan na silang umalis. Dinala nila kay Jesus ang batang asno. Matapos isapin sa likod nito ang kanilang mga balabal ay sumakay si Jesus. Marami ang naglatag ng kanilang mga balabal sa daan, samantalang ang iba nama'y pumutol ng madahong sanga ng kahoy at iyon ang kanilang inilatag sa daan. 11 Pumunta si Jesus sa Jerusalem at pumasok sa Templo at tiningnan niya ang lahat ng bagay doon. At dahil gumagabi na, lumabas siya at nagbalik sa Bethania na kasama ang Labindalawa.

Sinumpa ang Puno ng Igos(C)

12 Kinabukasan, nang pabalik na sila mula sa Bethania, si Jesus ay nakaramdam ng gutom. 13 Nakita niya sa di-kalayuan ang isang malagong puno ng igos. Nilapitan niya ito upang tingnan kung may bunga. Dahil hindi pa panahon ng igos noon, wala siyang nakita kundi mga dahon lamang. 14 Kaya't sinabi niya sa puno ng igos, “Wala nang makakakain pa ng iyong bunga.” Ang sinabi niyang iyon ay narinig ng kanyang mga alagad.

Pinalayas ang mga Nangangalakal sa Templo(D)

15 Pagdating nila sa Jerusalem, si Jesus ay pumasok sa Templo. Ipinagtabuyan niya ang mga nagbebenta at namimili roon, at ipinagtataob niya ang mga mesa ng mga namamalit ng salapi at ang mga upuan ng mga nagtitinda ng kalapati. 16 Pinagbawalan din niyang tumawid sa patyo ng Templo ang mga may dalang paninda 17 at(E) tinuruan niya ang mga tao nang ganito, “Nasusulat, ‘Ang aking tahanan ay tatawaging bahay-dalanginan ng lahat ng bansa.’ Ngunit ginawa ninyo itong lungga ng mga magnanakaw!”

18 Narinig ito ng mga punong pari at ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan. Buhat noo'y humanap na sila ng paraan upang patayin si Jesus. Subalit natatakot sila sa kanya dahil humahanga ang lahat sa kanyang mga turo.

19 Pagsapit ng gabi, si Jesus at ang kanyang mga alagad ay muling lumabas ng lungsod.

Ang Aral Mula sa Puno ng Igos(F)

20 Kinaumagahan, pagdaan nila'y nakita nilang natuyo ang puno ng igos hanggang sa mga ugat nito. 21 Naalala ni Pedro ang nangyari dito kaya't kanyang sinabi kay Jesus, “Guro, tingnan ninyo! Patay na ang puno ng igos na isinumpa ninyo.”

22 Sumagot si Jesus, “Manalig kayo sa Diyos. 23 Tandaan(G) ninyo ito: kung kayo'y nananampalataya sa Diyos at hindi kayo nag-aalinlangan, maaari ninyong sabihin sa bundok na ito, ‘Umalis ka riyan at tumalon ka sa dagat,’ at ito nga ay mangyayari. 24 Kaya't sinasabi ko sa inyo, anuman ang hingin ninyo sa inyong panalangin, maniwala kayong natanggap na ninyo iyon, at matatanggap nga ninyo iyon. 25 Kapag(H) kayo'y tumayo upang manalangin, patawarin muna ninyo ang nagkasala sa inyo upang ang inyong mga kasalanan ay patawarin din ng inyong Ama na nasa langit. [26 Ngunit kung hindi kayo magpapatawad, hindi rin naman kayo patatawarin ng inyong Ama na nasa langit.][c]

Pag-aalinlangan tungkol sa Karapatan ni Jesus(I)

27 Muli silang pumasok sa Jerusalem. Habang si Jesus ay naglalakad sa patyo ng Templo, nilapitan siya ng mga punong pari, ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan at ng mga pinuno ng bayan. 28 Siya'y tinanong nila, “Ano ang karapatan mong gumawa ng mga bagay na ito? Sino ang nagbigay sa iyo ng ganyang karapatan?”

29 Sumagot si Jesus, “Tatanungin ko kayo. Sagutin ninyo ito at sasabihin ko sa inyo kung kanino galing ang karapatan kong gumawa ng mga bagay na ito. 30 Sabihin ninyo sa akin, kanino galing ang karapatan ni Juan na magbautismo: sa Diyos ba o sa mga tao?”

31 At sila'y nag-usap-usap, “Kung sasabihin nating galing sa Diyos, itatanong naman niya sa atin kung bakit hindi natin pinaniwalaan si Juan. 32 Ngunit kung sasabihin naman nating galing sa tao, baka kung ano naman ang gawin sa atin ng mga tao.” Nangangamba sila sapagkat naniniwala ang marami na si Juan ay isang tunay na propeta. 33 Kaya't ganito ang kanilang isinagot: “Hindi namin alam.”

“Kung gayon, hindi ko rin sasabihin sa inyo kung kanino galing ang karapatan kong gawin ang mga ito,” tugon ni Jesus sa kanila.

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(A)(B)

11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany(C) at the Mount of Olives,(D) Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden.(E) Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”

They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway.(F) As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,

“Hosanna![a]

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[b](G)

10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”

“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”(H)

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.(I)

Jesus Curses a Fig Tree and Clears the Temple Courts(J)(K)(L)

12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.(M) 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’[c]?(N) But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d](O)

18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,(P) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.(Q)

19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples[e] went out of the city.(R)

20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(S) look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[f] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.(T) 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.(U) 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”(V) [26] [g]

The Authority of Jesus Questioned(W)

27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 28 “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?”

29 Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!”

31 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)(X)

33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”

Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

– Что вы делаете? Зачем отвязываете ослёнка?

Ученики ответили, как велел Исо, и люди их отпустили. Они привели ослёнка к Исо, набросили на него свои плащи, и Исо сел на него.[a] Многие начали расстилать свои плащи на дороге, другие расстилали зелёные ветви, срезанные ими в поле. И те, кто шёл впереди, и те, кто шёл позади, громко кричали:

– Хвала Царю![b]
Благословен Тот, Кто приходит во имя Вечного![c]
10 Благословенно наступающее Царство предка нашего Довуда![d]
Хвала Царю до небес!

11 Войдя в Иерусалим, Исо прошёл в храм. Он осмотрел всё, но так как было уже поздно, Он вместе с двенадцатью учениками отправился в Вифанию.

Исо Масех проклинает бесплодный инжир(B)

12 На следующий день, когда они вышли из Вифании, Исо почувствовал голод. 13 Увидев вдали покрытый листьями инжир, Он подошёл посмотреть, нет ли на нём плодов, но не нашёл ничего, кроме листьев. Время же для сбора инжира ещё не пришло.[e] 14 Тогда Исо сказал дереву:

– Пусть же никто никогда больше не ест твоих плодов![f]

И ученики слышали Его слова.

Изгнание торговцев из храма(C)

15 Когда они пришли в Иерусалим, Исо вошёл во двор храма и стал выгонять оттуда тех, кто там продавал и покупал. Он опрокинул столы менял и прилавки торговцев голубями 16 и не позволял ничего проносить через дворы храма.

17 – Разве не написано: «Дом Мой будет назван домом молитвы для всех народов»[g]? – учил Он их. – А вы превратили его в разбойничье логово.[h]

18 Услышав это, главные священнослужители и учители Таврота стали искать способ, как им убить Исо. Они боялись Его, потому что весь народ изумлялся Его учению. 19 Когда наступил вечер, Исо с учениками снова покинул город.

О вере(D)

20 На следующее утро, проходя мимо, они увидели, что инжир засох до корней. 21 Петрус вспомнил, что произошло накануне, и сказал:

– Учитель! Смотри! Инжир, который Ты проклял, засох!

22 Исо ответил им:

– Имейте веру во Всевышнего! 23 Говорю вам истину: если кто-то скажет этой горе: «Поднимись и бросься в море!» – и при этом не будет сомневаться в душе, а будет верить, что произойдёт то, что он сказал, то так ему и будет. 24 Поэтому говорю вам: о чём бы вы ни попросили в молитве, верьте, что вы уже получили это, – и будет вам. 25-26 И когда вы молитесь, то прощайте всем, на кого вы обижены, чтобы и ваш Небесный Отец простил вам ваши грехи.[i]

Вопрос о власти Исо Масеха(E)

27 Они снова пришли в Иерусалим, и когда Исо ходил в храме, к Нему подошли главные священнослужители, учители Таврота и старейшины.

28 – Чьей властью Ты всё это делаешь? – спросили они. – Кто дал Тебе власть делать всё это?

29 Исо ответил:

– Я задам вам вопрос. Ответьте Мне, и тогда Я вам скажу, чьей властью Я это делаю. 30 Яхьё получил своё право совершать обряд погружения в воду[j] от Всевышнего[k] или от людей? Ответьте Мне!

31 Они стали рассуждать между собой:

– Если мы скажем: «От Всевышнего», то Он спросит: «Так почему же вы ему не поверили?» 32 Сказать: «От людей…» – боялись народа, ведь все считали, что Яхьё был настоящим пророком.

33 И они ответили:

– Мы не знаем.

– Тогда и Я вам не скажу, чьей властью Я всё это делаю, – сказал им Исо.

The Triumphal Entry

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple [enclosure]; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve [disciples], because it was already late [in the day].

12 On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He was hungry.(D) 13 Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if He would find anything on it. But He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 He said to it, “No one will ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening [to what He said].

Jesus Drives Moneychangers from the Temple

15 Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple [grounds] and began driving out [with force] the people who were [d]selling and buying [animals for sacrifice] in the temple area, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers [who made a profit exchanging foreign money for temple coinage] and the seats of those who were selling doves;(E) 16 and He would not permit anyone to carry [e]merchandise or household wares through the temple [grounds, using the temple area irreverently as a shortcut]. 17 He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a robbers’ den.”(F) 18 The chief priests and the scribes heard this and began searching for a way to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, since the entire crowd was struck with astonishment at His teaching.

19 When evening came, Jesus and His disciples would leave the city.

20 In the morning, as they were passing by, the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered away from the roots up. 21 And remembering, Peter said to Him, “Rabbi (Master), look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered!” 22 Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. 23 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and [f]does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].(G) 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. 25 Whenever you [g]stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go], so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings [against Him and others]. 26 [h][But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.”]

Jesus’ Authority Questioned

27 They came again to Jerusalem. And as Jesus was walking in the [courts and porches of the] temple, the [i]chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him,(H) 28 and began saying to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?” 29 Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 Was the baptism of John [the Baptist] from heaven [that is, ordained by God] or from men? Answer Me.” 31 They began discussing it with each other, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ 32 But [j]shall we say, ‘From men?’” —they were afraid [to answer because] of the crowd, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet. 33 So they replied to Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

God is fully capable of doing that which man regards as impossible (cf 14:36; James 4:3).
