Good News Translation
The Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem(A)
11 As they approached Jerusalem, near the towns of Bethphage and Bethany, they came to the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of his disciples on ahead 2 with these instructions: “Go to the village there ahead of you. As soon as you get there, you will find a colt tied up that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3 And if someone asks you why you are doing that, say that the Master[a] needs it and will send it back at once.”
4 So they went and found a colt out in the street, tied to the door of a house. As they were untying it, 5 some of the bystanders asked them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”
6 They answered just as Jesus had told them, and the crowd let them go. 7 They brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks over the animal, and Jesus got on. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches in the field and spread them on the road. 9 (B)The people who were in front and those who followed behind began to shout, “Praise God! God bless him who comes in the name of the Lord! 10 God bless the coming kingdom of King David, our father! Praise be to God!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem, went into the Temple, and looked around at everything. But since it was already late in the day, he went out to Bethany with the twelve disciples.
Jesus Curses the Fig Tree(C)
12 The next day, as they were coming back from Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 He saw in the distance a fig tree covered with leaves, so he went to see if he could find any figs on it. But when he came to it, he found only leaves, because it was not the right time for figs. 14 Jesus said to the fig tree, “No one shall ever eat figs from you again!”
And his disciples heard him.
Jesus Goes to the Temple(D)
15 When they arrived in Jerusalem, Jesus went to the Temple and began to drive out all those who were buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the stools of those who sold pigeons, 16 and he would not let anyone carry anything through the Temple courtyards. 17 (E)He then taught the people: “It is written in the Scriptures that God said, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer for the people of all nations.’ But you have turned it into a hideout for thieves!”
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the Law heard of this, so they began looking for some way to kill Jesus. They were afraid of him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples left the city.
The Lesson from the Fig Tree(F)
20 Early next morning, as they walked along the road, they saw the fig tree. It was dead all the way down to its roots. 21 Peter remembered what had happened and said to Jesus, “Look, Teacher, the fig tree you cursed has died!”
22 Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23 (G)I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 For this reason I tell you: When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for. 25 (H)And when you stand and pray, forgive anything you may have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive the wrongs you have done.” 26 [b]
The Question about Jesus' Authority(I)
27 They arrived once again in Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests, the teachers of the Law, and the elders came to him 28 and asked him, “What right do you have to do these things? Who gave you such right?”
29 Jesus answered them, “I will ask you just one question, and if you give me an answer, I will tell you what right I have to do these things. 30 Tell me, where did John's right to baptize come from: was it from God or from human beings?”
31 They started to argue among themselves: “What shall we say? If we answer, ‘From God,’ he will say, ‘Why, then, did you not believe John?’ 32 But if we say, ‘From human beings …’” (They were afraid of the people, because everyone was convinced that John had been a prophet.) 33 So their answer to Jesus was, “We don't know.”
Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you, then, by what right I do these things.”

11 Pag-abot ni Jesus sa Jerusalem, misulod siya sa templo. Mitan-aw siya sa tanang mga butang didto sa sulod. Pagkahuman, migawas siya tungod kay hapit na mosalop ang adlaw, ug miadto sa Betania uban sa iyang dose ka mga apostoles.
Gitunglo ni Jesus ang Kahoy nga Igos

12 Pagkaugma, sa pagbiya nila sa Betania balik sa Jerusalem, gigutom si Jesus. 13 Sa unahan, aduna siyay nakita nga kahoy nga igos nga labong ug dahon. Ang Pag-abog ni Jesus sa mga Tawo Didto sa Templo

15 Pag-abot nila sa Jerusalem, misulod si Jesus sa templo. Giabog niya ang mga tawo nga namaligya ug namalit didto sulod sa templo. Gipangtikwang niya ang mga lamisa sa mga nagapang-ilis ug kuwarta ug ang mga lingkoranan sa mga namaligya ug mga salampati nga ighahalad. 16 Wala siya motugot ni bisan kinsa nga magdala ug mga baligya agi sa hawanan sa templo. 17 Ug gitudloan niya ang mga tawo didto sulod sa templo nga naga-ingon, “Dili ba nga miingon man ang Dios diha sa Kasulatan, ‘Ang akong balay tawgon nga balay nga alampoanan alang sa tanan nga nasod’?[b] Apan gihimo hinuon ninyo kini nga tagoanan sa mga tulisan.”[c]
18 Kadtong gihimo ni Jesus nadungog sa kadagkoan sa mga pari ug sa mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan. Busa nangita sila ug pamaagi aron patyon siya. Apan nahadlok sila kaniya kay nahibulong gayod ang mga tawo sa iyang gipanudlo.
19 Sa pagkakilomkilom na, mibiya sa siyudad si Jesus ug ang iyang mga tinun-an.
Ang Pagtulon-an bahin sa Kahoy nga Igos
(Mat. 21:20-22)
20 Pagkabuntag, sa dihang namalik sila padulong sa Jerusalem, didto na usab sila nangagi dapit sa kahoy nga igos, ug nakita nila nga nalaya kini ug patay na. 21 Nahinumdoman ni Pedro ang nahitabo. Busa miingon siya kang Jesus, “Magtutudlo, tan-awa ang kahoy nga igos nga imong gitunglo! Nalaya na!” 22 Miingon si Jesus kanila, “Tuo kamo sa Dios! 23 Ang tinuod, kon may pagtuo kamo, makamando kamo niining bukid, ‘Balhin ngadto sa dagat,’ ug kon nagatuo kamo nga kini mahitabo ug wala kamo magduhaduha, matuman kana sumala sa inyong gisulti. 24 Busa sultihan ko kamo nga bisan unsa ang inyong pangayoon sa Dios pinaagi sa pag-ampo, tuohi nga nadawat na ninyo, ug madawat gayod ninyo kini. 25 Ug kon kamo mag-ampo, pasayloa una ninyo ang mga nakasala kaninyo aron ang inyong mga sala pasayloon usab sa inyong Amahan sa langit. 26 [Kay kon dili kamo mopasaylo sa uban, dili usab kamo pasayloon sa inyong Amahan nga anaa sa langit.]”
Ang Pagpangutana sa Katungod ni Jesus

27 Sa pag-abot nila sa Jerusalem, mibalik si Jesus sa templo. Ug samtang naglakaw siya sulod sa templo, miduol kaniya ang kadagkoan sa mga pari, mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan, ug ang mga pangulo sa mga Judio. 28 Nangutana sila kang Jesus, “Unsa ba ang imong katungod sa pagbuhat niining mga butanga dinhi sa templo? Ug kinsa ang naghatag kanimo ug katungod sa pagbuhat niini?” 29 Mitubag si Jesus kanila, “Mangutana usab ako kaninyo. Tubaga una ninyo ako, pagkahuman tubagon ko usab kamo kon unsay akong katungod sa pagbuhat niining mga butanga. 30 Kang kinsa ba naggikan ang katungod ni Juan sa pagbautismo, sa Dios ba o sa tawo? Tubaga ninyo ako!” 31 Naglalisay sila kon unsa ang ilang itubag, “Kon moingon kita nga ‘Gikan sa Dios,’ moingon siya, ‘Nganong wala kamo motuo kang Juan?’ 32 Apan kon moingon kita nga ‘Gikan sa tawo,’ masuko kanato ang mga tawo.” (Nahadlok sila sa mga tawo kay mituo man ang mga tawo nga si Juan propeta sa Dios.) 33 Busa mitubag sila kang Jesus, “Wala kami masayod.” Ug miingon si Jesus kanila, “Kon mao kana dili ko usab kamo sultihan kon diin gikan ang akong katungod sa pagbuhat niini.”

5 And some of those that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
6 Then they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded, and they let them go.
7 They brought the colt to Jesus and cast their garments on him, and he sat upon him.
8 And many spread their garments in the way, and others cut down leaves off the trees and spread them in the way.
9 And those that went before and those that followed cried out, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord;
10 blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

20 And passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 Then Peter, remembering, said unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou didst curse is withered away.
22 And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Remove thyself and cast thyself into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that what he says shall be done whatsoever he says shall be done unto him.
24 Therefore I say unto you that everything that ye ask for, praying, believe that ye receive it, and it shall come upon you.
25 And when ye are praying, forgive if ye have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in the heavens will also forgive you your trespasses.
26 For if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your trespasses.
27 ¶ And they returned to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the princes of the priests and the scribes and the elders came
28 and said unto him, By what faculty doest thou these things? and who gave thee this faculty to do these things?
29 Then Jesus, answering, said unto them, I will also ask of you one word, and respond unto me, and I will tell you with what faculty I do these things.
30 The baptism of John, was it of heaven or of men? Respond unto me.
31 Then they thought inside themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven, he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 But if we shall say, Of men, we fear the people, for everyone judged regarding John that he truly was a prophet.
33 And answering, they said unto Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Neither shall I tell you with what faculty I do these things.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
