John 3:16Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

16 “For God loved the world in this way:[a] He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

Footnotes:

  1. John 3:16 The Gk word houtos, commonly translated in Jn 3:16 as “so” or “so much” occurs over 200 times in the NT. Almost without exception it is an adverb of manner, not degree (for example, see Mt 1:18). It only means “so much” when modifying an adjective (see Gl 3:3; Rv 16:18). Manner seems primarily in view in Jn 3:16, which explains the HCSB‘s rendering.

Acts 10:43Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

43 All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.”

Romans 10:9Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

1 Peter 1:8-10Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your[a] faith, the salvation of your souls.[b]

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that would come to you searched and carefully investigated.

Footnotes:

  1. 1 Peter 1:9 Other mss read our, or they omit the possessive pronoun
  2. 1 Peter 1:9 Or your lives
