⁶ But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’^(A)

² Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and called them humans^[a] when they were created.^(A)

Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath

1 When God began to create^[a] the heavens and the earth,^(A)

⁴ and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since our ancestors died,^[a] all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation!”^(A)

¹⁴ You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was a witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.^{(A) 15} Did God^[a] not make them one, flesh with spirit in it? And what does the one desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth.^{[b](B) 16} For I hate^[c] divorce, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and covering one’s garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.

¹⁹ For in those days there will be suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now and never will be.^(A)

²⁰ The man gave names to all cattle and to the birds of the air and to every animal of the field, but for the man^[a] there was not found a helper as his partner. ²¹ So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.^{(A) 22} And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. ²³ Then the man said,
