⁴³ But it is not so among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant,^(A)

⁸ But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.^{(A) 9} And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father, the one in heaven.^{(B) 10} Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah.^{[a] 11} The greatest among you will be your servant.^{(C) 12} All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.^(D)

²⁶ It will not be so among you, but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant,^{(A) 27} and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave,

¹¹ For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”^(A)

³⁵ He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”^(A)

⁴⁸ and said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me, for the least among all of you is the greatest.”^(A)

⁵ In the same way, you who are younger must be subject to the elders.^[a] And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for

⁶ Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.

¹⁹ For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might gain all the more.^{(A) 20} To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to gain Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) so that I might gain those under the law. ²¹ To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (though I am not outside God’s law but am within Christ’s law) so that I might gain those outside the law.^{(B) 22} To the weak I became weak, so that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. ²³ I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I might become a partner in it.

² Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.^[a](A)

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence,^[a] but through love become enslaved to one another.^(A)
