²¹ Looking at him, Jesus loved him^(A) and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor,^(B) and you will have treasure^(C) in heaven.^(D) Then come,^[a] follow me.”^(E)

²² When Jesus heard this, he told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell all you have and distribute it to the poor,^(A) and you will have treasure in heaven.^(B) Then come, follow me.”^(C)

²³ After he heard this, he became extremely sad,^(D) because he was very rich.
