¹⁸ “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.

¹⁹ After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven^(A) and he sat at the right hand of God.^(B)

¹⁶ As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened,^(A) and he saw the Spirit of God^(B) descending like a dove and alighting on him. ¹⁷ And a voice from heaven^(C) said, “This is my Son,^(D) whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”^(E)

²³ Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,^(A) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”

⁴⁶ About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,^[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).^[b](A)

⁴¹ So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up^(A) and said, “Father,^(B) I thank you that you have heard me.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.^(A) You believe^(B) in God^[a];^(C) believe also in me.

²⁸ “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’^(A) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,^(B) for the Father is greater than I.^(C)

²¹ When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying,^(C) heaven was opened ²² and the Holy Spirit descended on him^(D) in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,^(E) whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”^(F)
