세례자 요한이 예수를 위해 길을 준비하다
(마 3:1-12; 눅 3:1-9, 15-17; 요 1:19-28)
1 이 글은 하나님의 아들[a]예수 그리스도에 관한 기쁜 소식이다. 2 그 기쁜 소식은 하나님께서 기쁜 소식 이사야를 통하여 하신 말씀으로 시작된다.
“보라! 내가 나의 심부름꾼을
너보다 앞서 보내리니
그가 너의 길을 미리 준비하리라.”(A)
3 “광야에서 외치는 이의 소리가 있다.
‘주를 위해 길을 준비하라.
그분이 오실 길을 곧게 하여라.’”(B)
4 그래서 세례자 요한[b]이 와서 광야에서 사람들에게 세례를 주었다. 그는 사람들에게 회개의 표시로 세례를 받으라고 외쳤다. 5 온 유대 지방과 예루살렘에 사는 사람들이 그에게 왔다. 사람들은 자기 죄를 고백하고 요단 강[c]에서 그에게 세례를 받았다. 6 요한은 낙타털로 만든 옷을 입고 허리에는 가죽 띠를 두르고 메뚜기와 들꿀을 먹으며 살았다. 7 그는 이렇게 선포하였다. “조금 있으면 어떤 분이 오실 것이다. 그분은 나보다 능력이 많은 분이시다. 나는 꿇어 엎드려 그분의 신발 끈을 풀어 드릴 자격도 없는 사람이다. 8 나는 너희에게 물로 세례를 주지만, 그분은 성령으로 세례를 주실 것이다.”
예수께서 세례를 받으시다
(마 3:13-17; 눅 3:21-22)
9 그 무렵에 예수께서 갈릴리의 나사렛 마을에서 세례자 요한이 있는 곳으로 오셨다. 그리고 요단 강에서 요한에게 세례를 받으셨다. 10 예수께서 물에서 올라오실 때에, 그분은 하늘이 열리는 것을 보셨다. 성령께서 비둘기처럼 그분 위로 내려오셨다. 11 그리고 하늘에서 이렇게 말하는 목소리가 들려왔다. “너는 내가 사랑하는 아들, 내가 매우 기뻐하는 아들이다.”
시험 받으러 가시다
(마 4:1-11; 눅 4:1-13)
12 그리고 곧 성령께서 예수를 광야[d]로 내보내셨다. 13 예수께서 사십 일 동안 광야에 머무시면서 사탄[e]에게 시험을 받으셨다. 그분은 광야에서 들짐승들과 함께 지내셨고, 천사들이 그분을 섬겼다.
갈릴리에서 일을 시작하시다
(마 4:12-17; 눅 4:14-15)
14 그 뒤에 요한이 감옥에 갇히게 되었다. 예수께서는 갈릴리로 돌아가서 하나님께서 주신 기쁜 소식을 선포하시기 시작하였다. 15 “이제 때가 이르러 하나님의 나라가 가까이 왔다. 회개하고 기쁜 소식을 믿어라.”
네 제자를 부르시다
(마 4:18-22; 눅 5:1-11)
16 예수께서 갈릴리 호숫가를 걸어가시다가 시몬[f]과 그의 형제 안드레를 보셨다. 그들은 어부였는데, 호수에서 물고기를 잡으려고 그물을 던지고 있었다. 17 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “나를 따라오너라. 내가 너희를 물고기 대신 사람을 낚는 어부로 만들어 주겠다.” 18 시몬과 안드레는 그 자리에서 그물을 버리고 예수를 따랐다.
19 예수께서 조금 더 걸어가시다가 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그의 형제 요한을 보셨다. 그들은 배에서 그물을 손질하고 있었다. 20 예수께서 곧 그들을 부르셨다. 그러자 그들은 아버지 세베대와 데리고 일하던 일꾼들을 배에 남겨 두고 예수를 따랐다.
귀신 들린 사람을 고치시다
(눅 4:31-37)
21 그 뒤에 예수와 그의 제자들은 가버나움 마을[g]로 들어갔다. 예수께서 안식일에 그 마을의 회당에서 사람들을 가르치셨다. 22 사람들은 예수의 가르침에 놀랐다. 예수께서 그들의 율법 선생들과는 달리 권위 있게 가르치셨기 때문이다. 23 바로 그때 회당에 있던 악한 귀신 들린 사람 하나가 큰 소리로 이렇게 말하였다. 24 “나사렛 사람 예수여, 당신이 우리한테 원하시는 것이 무엇입니까? 당신은 우리를 없애려고 오셨습니까? 나는 당신이 누구신지 압니다. 당신은 하나님께서 보내신 거룩한 분입니다.”
25 예수께서 그를 꾸짖어 말씀하셨다. “조용히 하고 그 사람에게서 나와라!” 26 그러자 악한 귀신은 그 남자가 온 몸을 떨며 발작하게 만들었다. 그러고는 큰 소리를 지르며 그 남자에게서 나왔다.
27 거기에 있던 사람들이 모두 놀라 서로에게 물었다. “이게 어찌 된 일이지? 이 사람은 무언가 새로운 것을 가르치고 있다. 그것도 권위 있게 가르친다. 그가 악한 귀신들에게 명령을 내리니 그들도 순종하지 않는가!” 28 이렇게 하여 예수의 소문이 갈릴리 온 지역으로 삽시간에 퍼져 나갔다.
많은 사람을 고치시다
(마 8:14-17; 눅 4:38-41)
29 예수와 제자들은 곧 회당을 떠났다. 그들은 모두 시몬과 안드레의 집으로 갔는데, 야고보와 요한도 그들과 함께 갔다. 30 시몬의 장모가 심한 열병으로 자리에 누워 있었다. 그래서 그들이 시몬의 장모가 병난 것을 예수께 말씀드렸다. 31 예수께서 그 부인에게 가까이 가서 손을 잡아 일으키셨다. 그러자 부인의 몸에서 곧 열이 떨어지고 병이 나았다. 부인은 그들의 시중을 들기 시작하였다.
32 그날 저녁 해가 진 뒤에 사람들이 병자들을 많이 데려왔다. 그 가운데는 귀신 들린 사람들도 있었다. 33 온 마을 사람이 그 집 문 앞에 모여들었다. 34 예수께서는 여러 가지 병으로 시달리는 많은 사람을 고쳐 주시고, 귀신들도 많이 쫓아내셨다. 그러나 귀신들이 그분이 누구신지 알고 있었기 때문에[h] 그들이 말 하는 것을 허락하지 않으셨다.
기쁜 소식 선포를 준비하시다
(눅 4:42-44)
35 다음 날 아침 예수께서는 매우 일찍 일어나셨다. 그리고 아직 날이 밝기 전에 집을 나와 외딴 곳으로 가셔서 거기서 기도하고 계셨다. 36 시몬과 다른 제자들이 그분을 찾아다니다가, 37 기도하고 계신 예수를 보았다. 그들이 예수께 말씀드렸다. “모든 사람이 선생님을 찾고 있습니다.”
38 그러나 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. “다른 곳으로 가자. 여기서 가까운 곳에 여러 마을이 있다. 거기에 가서도 가르쳐야겠다. 이 일을 위해 내가 왔다.” 39 예수께서는 갈릴리 지방을 두루 다니시며 회당에서 기쁜 소식을 전하시고 귀신들을 쫓아내셨다.
병든 사람을 고치시다
(마 8:1-4; 눅 5:12-16)
40 나병환자 한 사람이 예수께 왔다. 그가 무릎을 꿇고 예수께 간절히 청했다. “선생님, 선생님께서 원하시기만 하면 저를 낫게 하실 수 있습니다.”
41 예수께서 그 사람을 보고 가엾게 여기셨다.[i] 예수께서 손을 내밀어 그를 만지며 말씀하셨다. “그래, 너를 고쳐 주고 싶다. 깨끗하게 나아라!” 42 그러자 그의 병이 곧 나았다. 그는 깨끗한 사람이 되었다.[j]
43 예수께서 그 사람을 보내시며 단단히 이르셨다. 44 “아무에게도 이 일을 이야기하지 말아라. 너는 가서 제사장에게 네 몸을 보이고 모세가 명한 대로 제물을 드려라.[k] 그렇게 하여 몸이 나은 것을 모든 사람에게 증명하여라.” 45 그러나 그는 나가서 자기의 병이 나은 이야기를 퍼뜨렸다. 이 일 때문에 예수께서 더는 마음대로 마을에 드나드시지 못하게 되었다. 예수께서는 마을 밖으로 나가 사람들의 왕래가 뜸한 곳에 머무셨다. 그런데도 사방에서 사람들이 예수께 모여들었다.

3 “The(E) voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’ ”
4 (F)John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance [b]for the remission of sins. 5 (G)Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

John Baptizes Jesus(L)

Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry(T)

Four Fishermen Called as Disciples(Y)
16 (Z)And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become (AA)fishers of men.” 18 (AB)They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.
Jesus Casts Out an Unclean Spirit(AC)
21 (AD)Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the (AE)synagogue and taught. 22 (AF)And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an (AG)unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone! (AH)What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I (AI)know who You are—the (AJ)Holy One of God!”
25 But Jesus (AK)rebuked him, saying, [h]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” 26 And when the unclean spirit (AL)had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, [i]“What is this? What new [j]doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” 28 And immediately His (AM)fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.
Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed(AN)
29 (AO)Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. 31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them.
Many Healed After Sabbath Sunset(AP)
32 (AQ)At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and (AR)cast out many demons; and He (AS)did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
Preaching in Galilee(AT)
35 Now (AU)in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a [k]solitary place; and there He (AV)prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37 When they found Him, they said to Him, (AW)“Everyone (AX)is looking for You.”
38 But He said to them, (AY)“Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because (AZ)for this purpose I have come forth.”
39 (BA)And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and (BB)casting out demons.
Jesus Cleanses a Leper(BC)
40 (BD)Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41 Then Jesus, moved with (BE)compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, (BF)immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. 43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things (BG)which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
45 (BH)However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; (BI)and they came to Him from every direction.
