⁸ I have baptized you with^[a] water, but he will baptize you with^[b] the Holy Spirit.”^(A)

⁵ for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with^[a] the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”^(A)

⁴ Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus.”^{(A) 5} On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied,^(B)

¹³ For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.^(A)

⁴ All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.^(A)

God’s Spirit Poured Out

¹⁵ And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning.^{(A) 16} And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’^(B)

⁴⁵ The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the gentiles,^(A)

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.^{(A) 26} A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.^{(B) 27} I will put my spirit within you and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.^(C)
