Mark 1:4-11

4 John came baptizing[a](A) in the wilderness(B) and proclaiming a baptism of repentance(C) for the forgiveness(D) of sins.(E) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem(F) were going out to him, and they were baptized by him in the Jordan(G) River, confessing(H) their sins.(I) 6 John wore a camel-hair garment with a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts(J) and wild honey.(K)
7 He proclaimed, “One who is more powerful(L) than I am is coming after me.(M) I am not worthy(N) to stoop down and untie the strap of his sandals.(O) 8 I baptize you with[b] water,(P) but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”(Q)
The Baptism of Jesus
9 In(R) those days Jesus came from Nazareth(S) in Galilee(T) and was baptized in the Jordan by John. 10 As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens(U) being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice(V) came from heaven:(W) “You are my beloved(X) Son;(Y) with you I am well-pleased.”(Z)
