²¹ They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.^(B)

²⁹ As soon as they left the synagogue,^(C) they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.

⁹ At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,^(A)

¹⁴ Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.^(A)

¹⁴ Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath,^(A) the synagogue leader^(B) said to the people, “There are six days for work.^(C) So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

² There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body.
