¹³ And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; ^(A)and the angels ministered to Him.

¹⁵ For ^(A)we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but ^(B)was in all points tempted as we are, ^(C)yet without sin.

¹⁷ Therefore, in all things He had ^(A)to be made like His brethren, that He might be ^(B)a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. ^18 (C)For in that He Himself has suffered, being ^[a]tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

^28 (A)So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And ^(B)He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ^[a]Ten Commandments.

⁵³ Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with ^(A)more than twelve legions of angels?

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, ^[a]“Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ^(A)‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

¹¹ Then the devil ^(B)left Him, and behold, ^(C)angels came and ministered to Him.

⁵ Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an ^[a]angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” ⁶ Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on ^[b]coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. ⁷ And the ^[c]angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” ⁸ So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and ^(A)forty nights as far as ^(B)Horeb, the mountain of God.

^25 (A)“Thus I ^[a]prostrated myself before the Lord; forty days and forty nights I kept prostrating myself, because the Lord had said He would destroy you.

¹⁸ And I ^(A)fell^[a] down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.
