11 And they asked him, “Why do the scribes say (A)that first Elijah must come?” 12 And he said to them, “Elijah does come first (B)to restore all things. And (C)how is it written of the Son of Man that he should (D)suffer many things and (E)be treated with contempt? 13 But I tell you that Elijah has come, and (F)they did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him.”

11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man(A) must suffer much(B) and be rejected?(C) 13 But I tell you, Elijah has come,(D) and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”
