⁷ They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them.^(A)

¹⁹ And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.^(A) Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

⁸ The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.^{[a] 9} When they landed, they saw a fire^(A) of burning coals there with fish on it,^(B) and some bread.

⁵ He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

⁴¹ And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ⁴² They gave him a piece of broiled fish,
