Commissioning the Twelve
7 He(A) summoned(B) the Twelve(C) and began to send(D) them out in pairs and gave them authority over unclean(E) spirits.(F) 8 He instructed them to take nothing for the road except a staff—no bread, no traveling bag,(G) no money in their belts, 9 but to wear sandals and not put on an extra shirt.(H) 10 He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. 11 If any place does not welcome(I) you or listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet(J) as a testimony(K) against them.”[a] 12 So they went out and preached(L) that people should repent.(M) 13 They drove out many demons,(N) anointed(O) many sick(P) people with oil(Q) and healed them.(R)

7 Calling the Twelve to him,(A) he began to send them out two by two(B) and gave them authority over impure spirits.(C)
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet(D) as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(E) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(F) and healed them.
