Jesus' Mother and Brothers

⁴⁶ While he was still speaking to the people, behold, ^(A)his mother and his ^(B)brothers^[a] stood outside, asking to speak to him.^[b]

⁴² They said, ^(A)“Is not this Jesus, ^(B)the son of Joseph, whose father and mother ^(C)we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

¹ Jude, a servant^[a] of Jesus Christ and brother of James,

^(A)To those who are called, ^(B)beloved in God the Father and ^(C)kept for^[b] Jesus Christ:

^55 (A)Is not this ^(B)the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not ^(C)his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? ⁵⁶ And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” ⁵⁷ And ^(D)they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, ^(E)“A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”
