29 Those who passed by derided[a] him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days,(A) 30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31 In the same way the chief priests, along with the scribes, were also mocking him among themselves and saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself.(B) 32 Let the Messiah,[b] the King of Israel, come down from the cross now, so that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also taunted him.(C)

You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,(B) 30 come down from the cross and save yourself!” 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him(C) among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! 32 Let this Messiah,(D) this king of Israel,(E) come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
