⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he ^(A)went out into the entryway.^[a]

⁷² And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said the statement to him, “Before ^(A)a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” ^[a]And throwing himself down, he began to cry.

³⁸ Jesus *answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.
