29 Peter said to him, “Even though all fall away,[a] I will not.”(A) 30 Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.”(B) 31 But he said vehemently, “Even though I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And all of them said the same.

30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[a] you yourself will disown me three times.”(A)
31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you,(B) I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.
