7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, (A)do not be alarmed. This (B)must take place, but the end is not yet. 8 For (C)nation will rise against nation, and (D)kingdom against kingdom. There will be (E)earthquakes in various places; there will be (F)famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.
9 (G)“But (H)be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten (I)in synagogues, and you will stand before (J)governors and (K)kings for my sake, (L)to bear witness before them.

7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues.(A) On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
