The Baptism of Jesus

^9 (A)In those days Jesus ^(B)came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. ¹⁰ Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens ^[a]opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; ¹¹ and a voice came out of the heavens: “^(C)You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Jesus Is Baptized

^21 (A)Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was ^(B)praying, heaven was opened, ²² and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “^(C)You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

³¹ I did not recognize ^[a]Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing ^[b]in water.” ³² John ^(A)testified saying, “^(B)I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. ³³ I did not recognize ^[c]Him, but He who sent me to baptize ^[d]in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, ^(C)this is the One who baptizes ^[e]in the Holy Spirit.’ ³⁴ I myself have seen, and have testified that this is ^(D)the Son of God.”
