Pilda vierilor
12 Isus a(A) început pe urmă să le vorbească în pilde.
„Un om a sădit o vie. A împrejmuit-o cu un gard, a săpat un teasc în ea şi a zidit un turn, apoi a arendat-o unor vieri şi a plecat din ţară. 2 La vremea roadelor, a trimis la vieri un rob ca să ia de la ei din roadele viei. 3 Vierii au pus mâna pe el, l-au bătut şi l-au trimis înapoi cu mâinile goale. 4 A trimis iarăşi la ei un alt rob; ei l-au rănit la cap şi l-au batjocorit. 5 A mai trimis un altul, pe care l-au omorât, apoi a trimis mulţi alţii, dintre care pe unii i-au bătut, iar pe alţii i-au omorât. 6 Mai avea un singur fiu preaiubit; la urmă l-a trimis şi pe el la ei. ‘Vor primi cu cinste pe fiul meu’, zicea el. 7 Dar vierii aceia au zis între ei: ‘Iată moştenitorul, veniţi să-l omorâm, şi moştenirea va fi a noastră’. 8 Şi au pus mâna pe el, l-au omorât şi i-au aruncat trupul afară din vie. 9 Acum ce va face stăpânul viei? Va veni, va nimici pe vierii aceia şi via o va da altora. 10 Oare n-aţi citit locul acesta din Scriptură: ‘Piatra(B) pe care au lepădat-o zidarii a ajuns să fie pusă în capul unghiului; 11 Domnul a făcut acest lucru, şi este minunat în ochii noştri’?” 12 Ei(C) căutau să-L prindă, dar se temeau de norod. Pricepuseră că împotriva lor spusese Isus pilda aceasta. Şi L-au lăsat şi au plecat.
Birul cezarului
13 Apoi(D) au trimis la Isus pe unii din farisei şi din irodieni ca să-L prindă cu vorba. 14 Aceştia au venit şi I-au zis: „Învăţătorule, ştim că spui adevărul şi nu-Ţi pasă de nimeni, căci nu cauţi la faţa oamenilor şi înveţi pe oameni calea lui Dumnezeu în adevăr. Se cade să plătim bir cezarului sau nu? 15 Să plătim sau să nu plătim?” Isus le-a cunoscut făţărnicia şi le-a răspuns: „Pentru ce Mă ispitiţi? Aduceţi-Mi un ban[a] ca să-l văd.” 16 I-au adus un ban, şi Isus i-a întrebat: „Chipul acesta şi slovele scrise pe el, ale cui sunt?” „Ale cezarului”, I-au răspuns ei. 17 Atunci, Isus le-a zis: „Daţi dar cezarului ce este al cezarului şi lui Dumnezeu ce este al lui Dumnezeu”. Şi se mirau foarte mult de El.
Despre înviere
18 Saducheii(E), care(F) zic că nu este înviere, au venit la Isus şi I-au pus următoarea întrebare: 19 „Învăţătorule, iată ce ne-a scris Moise(G): Dacă moare fratele cuiva şi-i rămâne nevasta fără să aibă copii, fratele său să ia pe nevasta lui şi să ridice urmaş fratelui său. 20 Erau dar şapte fraţi. Cel dintâi s-a însurat şi a murit fără să lase urmaş. 21 Al doilea a luat de nevastă pe văduvă şi a murit fără să lase urmaş. Tot aşa şi al treilea. 22 Şi niciunul din cei şapte n-a lăsat urmaş. După ei toţi, a murit şi femeia. 23 La înviere, nevasta căruia dintre ei va fi ea? Căci toţi şapte au avut-o de nevastă.” 24 Drept răspuns, Isus le-a zis: „Oare nu vă rătăciţi voi din pricină că nu pricepeţi nici Scripturile, nici puterea lui Dumnezeu? 25 Căci după ce vor învia din morţi, nici nu se vor însura, nici nu se vor mărita, ci vor(H) fi ca îngerii în ceruri. 26 În ceea ce priveşte învierea morţilor, oare n-aţi citit în cartea lui Moise, în locul unde se vorbeşte despre Rug, ce i-a spus Dumnezeu când a zis: ‘Eu(I) sunt Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Dumnezeul lui Isaac şi Dumnezeul lui Iacov?’ 27 Dumnezeu nu este un Dumnezeu al celor morţi, ci al celor vii. Tare vă mai rătăciţi!”
Cea mai mare poruncă
28 Unul(J) din cărturari, care-i auzise vorbind, fiindcă ştia că Isus răspunsese bine saducheilor, a venit la El şi L-a întrebat: „Care este cea dintâi dintre toate poruncile?” 29 Isus i-a răspuns: „Cea dintâi este aceasta: ‘Ascultă(K), Israele! Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, este un singur Domn’ 30 şi ‘Să iubeşti pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, cu toată inima ta, cu tot sufletul tău, cu tot cugetul tău şi cu toată puterea ta’. Iată porunca dintâi. 31 Iar a doua este următoarea: ‘Să(L) iubeşti pe aproapele tău ca pe tine însuţi’. Nu este altă poruncă mai mare decât acestea.” 32 Cărturarul I-a zis: „Bine, Învăţătorule. Adevărat ai zis că Dumnezeu este unul singur, că(M) nu este altul afară de El, 33 şi că a-L iubi cu toată inima, cu tot cugetul, cu tot sufletul şi cu toată puterea şi a iubi pe aproapele ca pe sine este(N) mai mult decât toate arderile de tot şi decât toate jertfele.” 34 Isus a văzut că a răspuns cu pricepere şi i-a zis: „Tu nu eşti departe de Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu”. Şi(O) nimeni nu îndrăznea să-I mai pună întrebări.
Al cui fiu este Hristosul?
35 Pe când(P) învăţa pe norod în Templu, Isus a zis: „Cum zic cărturarii că Hristosul este fiul lui David? 36 Însuşi David, fiind insuflat de(Q) Duhul Sfânt, a zis:
‘Domnul a zis(R) Domnului meu: «Şezi la dreapta Mea până voi pune pe vrăjmaşii Tăi sub picioarele Tale».’
37 Deci chiar David Îl numeşte Domn; atunci cum este El fiul lui?”Şi gloata cea mare Îl asculta cu plăcere.
Mustrarea cărturarilor
38 În învăţătura pe care le-o dădea, Isus le(S) zicea: „Păziţi-vă(T) de cărturari, cărora le place să umble în haine lungi şi să le facă(U) lumea plecăciuni prin pieţe. 39 Ei umblă după scaunele dintâi în sinagogi şi după locurile dintâi la ospeţe; 40 casele văduvelor le mănâncă(V) şi fac rugăciuni lungi de ochii lumii. O mai mare osândă va veni peste ei.”
Văduva săracă
41 Isus(W) şedea jos în faţa vistieriei Templului şi Se uita cum arunca norodul bani în(X) vistierie. Mulţi, care erau bogaţi, aruncau mult. 42 A venit şi o văduvă săracă şi a aruncat doi bănuţi[b], care fac un gologan[c]. 43 Atunci, Isus a chemat pe ucenicii Săi şi le-a zis: „Adevărat vă spun că această(Y) văduvă săracă a dat mai mult decât toţi cei ce au aruncat în vistierie, 44 căci toţi ceilalţi au aruncat din prisosul lor, dar ea, din sărăcia ei, a aruncat tot(Z) ce avea, tot ce-i mai rămăsese ca să trăiască”.

12 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

6 “He still had one son, his dear beloved. Lastly, he also sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
7 “But the farmers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him. And the inheritance shall be ours.’
8 “So they took him and killed him and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 “What shall then the Lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy these farmers and give the vineyard to others.
10 “Have you not read so much as this Scripture, ‘The stone which the builders refused, has become the cornerstone.
11 “‘This was done by the Lord. And it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
12 Then they planned to take Him. But they feared the people. For they perceived that He spoke that parable against them. Therefore, they left Him alone and went their way.
13 And they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Him, that they might catch Him in His words.
14 And when they came, they said to Him, “Master, we know that You are true, and do not care what anyone says. For You do not consider the person of man but teach the way of God truly. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?
15 “Should we give it, or should we not give it?” But He knew their hypocrisy, and said to them, “Why do you tempt me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.”
16 So they brought it, and He said to them, “Whose image and superscription is this?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.”
17 Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God, those that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.
18 Then the Sadducees came to Him (who say there is no resurrection). And they asked Him, saying,
19 “Master, Moses wrote to us, ‘If any man’s brother dies and leaves his wife, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.’
20 “There were seven brothers, and the first took a wife. And when he died, he left no heir.
21 “Then the second took her and died, leaving no heir, and the third likewise.
22 “So these seven had her and left no heir. Last of all the wife died also.
23 “In the resurrection then, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be? For seven had her as their wife.”
24 Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “Are you not therefore deceived, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?
25 “For when they shall rise again from the dead, neither men nor wives marry, but are as the angels which are in Heaven.
26 “And as for the dead, they shall rise again. Have you not read in the book of Moses how, in the bush, God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’
27 “God is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly deceived.”
28 Then came one of the scribes who had heard them disputing together. And perceiving that he had answered them well, he asked him, “Which is the first Commandment of all?
29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the Commandments is, ‘Hear, Israel, The Lord our God is the only Lord.
30 “‘You shall therefore love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first Commandment.

32 Then that scribe said to Him, “Well, Master, you have said the truth; that there is one God, and that there is none but He,

34 Then when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask Him any question after that.
35 And Jesus answered and said (teaching in the Temple), “How can the scribes say that Christ is the Son of David?
36 “For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.
37 “Then David himself called him Lord. By what means is He then his son?” And many people heard Him gladly.
38 Moreover He said to them in His doctrine, “Beware of the scribes, who love to go around in long robes and love greetings in the markets,
39 “and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the first rooms at feasts.
40 “They devour widows’ houses, even under a color of long prayers. These shall receive the greater damnation.”
41 And as Jesus sat near the treasury, He saw how much money the people cast into the treasury. And many of the rich men cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow. And she threw in two lepta (which make a kodrantes).
43 Then He called His disciples to Him, and said to them, “Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast more in than all those who have cast into the treasury.
44 “For they all cast in out of their excess. But she, out of her poverty, cast in all that she had, even all her living.”
