Parábola del sembrador

(A)Comenzó Jesús a enseñar de nuevo junto al mar; y se llegó[a] a Él una multitud tan grande(B) que tuvo que subirse a una barca(C) que estaba en el mar, y se sentó; y toda la multitud estaba en tierra a la orilla del mar. Les enseñaba muchas cosas en parábolas(D), y les decía en Su enseñanza:

«Escuchen: El sembrador salió a sembrar; y al sembrar, una parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y se la comieron. Otra parte cayó en un pedregal donde no tenía mucha tierra; y enseguida brotó por no tener profundidad de tierra. Pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó, y por no tener raíz, se secó. Otra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto. Y otras semillas cayeron en buena tierra, y creciendo y desarrollándose, dieron fruto, y produjeron unas a treinta, otras a sesenta y otras a ciento por uno». Y añadió: «El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga(E)».

Explicación de la parábola

10 Cuando Jesús se quedó solo, Sus seguidores[b] junto con los doce le preguntaban sobre las parábolas. 11 «A ustedes les ha sido dado el misterio del reino de Dios», les decía, «pero los que están afuera(F)reciben todo en parábolas(G); 12 para que viendo, vean pero no perciban, y oyendo, oigan pero no entiendan, no sea que se conviertan y sean perdonados(H)».

13 (I)También les dijo*: «¿No entienden esta parábola? ¿Cómo, pues, comprenderán todas las otras parábolas? 14 El sembrador siembra la palabra. 15 Estos que están junto al camino donde se siembra la palabra, son aquellos que en cuanto la oyen, al instante viene Satanás(J)y se lleva la palabra que se ha sembrado en ellos. 16 Y de igual manera, estos en que se sembró la semilla en pedregales son los que al oír la palabra enseguida la reciben con gozo; 17 pero no tienen raíz profunda en sí mismos, sino que solo son temporales. Entonces, cuando viene la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, enseguida se apartan de ella[c]. 18 Otros son aquellos en los que se sembró la semilla entre los espinos; estos son los que han oído la palabra, 19 pero las preocupaciones del mundo[d], y el engaño de las riquezas, y los deseos de las demás cosas entran y ahogan la palabra, y se vuelve estéril(K). 20 Y otros son aquellos en que se sembró la semilla en tierra buena; los cuales oyen la palabra, la aceptan y dan fruto, unos a treinta, otros a sesenta y otros a ciento por uno(L)».

21 También Jesús les decía: «¿Acaso se trae una lámpara para ponerla debajo de una vasija o debajo de la cama? ¿No es para ponerla en el candelero(M)? 22 Porque nada hay oculto, si no es para que sea manifestado; ni nada ha estado en secreto, sino para que salga a la luz(N). 23 Si alguno tiene oídos para oír, que oiga(O)».

24 Además les decía: «Cuídense de lo que oigan. Con la medida con que ustedes midan, se les medirá(P), y aun más se les dará. 25 Porque al que tiene, se le dará más, pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará(Q)».

Parábola del crecimiento de la semilla

26 Jesús decía también: «El reino de Dios es como un hombre que echa semilla en la tierra(R), 27 y se acuesta[e]de noche y se levanta de día, y la semilla brota y crece; cómo, él no lo sabe. 28 La tierra produce fruto por sí misma; primero la hoja, luego la espiga, y después el grano maduro[f]en la espiga. 29 Y cuando el fruto lo permite, él enseguida mete[g]la hoz(S), porque ha llegado el tiempo de la siega».

Parábola del grano de mostaza

30 (T)También Jesús decía: «¿A qué compararemos el reino de Dios(U), o con qué parábola lo describiremos? 31 Es como un grano de mostaza, el cual, cuando se siembra en la tierra, aunque es más pequeño que todas las semillas que hay en la tierra, 32 sin embargo, después de sembrado, crece y llega a ser más grande que todas las hortalizas y echa grandes ramas, tanto que las aves del cielo pueden anidar bajo su sombra(V)».

33 Con muchas parábolas como estas Jesús les hablaba la palabra, según podían oírla; 34 y sin parábolas[h](W) no les hablaba, pero lo explicaba(X) todo en privado a Sus propios discípulos.

Jesús calma la tempestad

35 (Y)Ese mismo día, caída ya la tarde, Jesús les dijo*: «Pasemos al otro lado». 36 Despidiendo[i] a la multitud, lo llevaron* con ellos en la barca(Z), como estaba; y había otras barcas con Él. 37 Pero se levantó* una violenta tempestad[j], y las olas se lanzaban sobre la barca de tal manera que ya la barca se llenaba de agua. 38 Jesús estaba en la popa, durmiendo sobre una almohadilla; entonces lo despertaron* y le dijeron*: «Maestro, ¿no te importa que perezcamos?».

39 Jesús se levantó, reprendió al viento y dijo al mar: «¡Cálmate[k], sosiégate[l]!». Y el viento cesó, y sobrevino una gran calma(AA). 40 Entonces les dijo: «¿Por qué están atemorizados? ¿Cómo no tienen fe(AB)?».

41 Y se llenaron de gran temor, y se decían unos a otros: «¿Quién, pues, es Este que aun el viento y el mar le obedecen?».

The Parable of the Sower

Again (A)he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, (B)so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. And (C)he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: “Listen! Behold, (D)a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And (E)when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, (F)it withered away. Other seed fell among (G)thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and (H)a hundredfold.” And he said, (I)“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

The Purpose of the Parables

10 And (J)when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables. 11 And he said to them, (K)“To you has been given (L)the secret of the kingdom of God, but for (M)those outside everything is in parables, 12 (N)so that

“‘they (O)may indeed see but not perceive,
    and may indeed hear but not understand,
lest they (P)should turn and be forgiven.’”

13 (Q)And he said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? 14 (R)The sower sows (S)the word. 15 And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them. 16 And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: the ones who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it (T)with joy. 17 And they have no root in themselves, but (U)endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately (V)they fall away.[a] 18 And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, 19 but (W)the cares of (X)the world and (Y)the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 20 But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and (Z)bear fruit, (AA)thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”

A Lamp Under a Basket

21 (AB)And he said to them, (AC)“Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? 22 (AD)For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light. 23 (AE)If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” 24 And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: (AF)with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. 25 (AG)For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

The Parable of the Seed Growing

26 And he said, (AH)“The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. 27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; (AI)he knows not how. 28 The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29 But when the grain is ripe, at once (AJ)he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

30 (AK)And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? 31 It is like (AL)a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”

33 (AM)With many such parables he spoke (AN)the word to them, (AO)as they were able to hear it. 34 He did not speak to them (AP)without a parable, but (AQ)privately to his own disciples he (AR)explained everything.

Jesus Calms a Storm

35 (AS)On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves (AT)were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and (AU)rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and (AV)there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you (AW)so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, (AX)“Who then is this, that even (AY)the wind and the sea obey him?”

And again Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach began to say shiurim (Torah talks) beside the lake. And a huge multitude gathered together to him so that he got into a sirah (boat) on the lake and sat down. The whole multitude was by the lake on the shore.

And Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach was giving them torah with many meshalim (parables) and in the shiurim he said, he was saying to them:

Listen. Hinei! The Sower went out to sow (seeds).

And it came about that when he went to sow, that some [seeds] fell beside the road. And the birds came and devoured it.

And other [seeds] fell upon the rocky places where it did not have much soil, and ofen ort (immediately) it sprang up because it did not have depth of soil.

And when the shemesh rose, it was scorched and, because it did not have a shoresh (root), it withered.

And other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them, and it did not yield pri.

And other seed fell into the adamah tovah (good ground) and it was giving pri (fruit), rising up and growing, thirty, sixty, and one hundredfold.

And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was saying, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And when he was alone, the Shneym Asar were asking him for a hezber (explanation) of the meshalim (parables).

11 And he was saying to them, To you the raz (secret) of the Malchut Hashem has been given. But to the outsiders, everything remains in meshalim,

12 In order that YIRU they may see and not have daas VSHIMU they may hear and not have binah, lest they should turn and they should receive refuah and selicha. (YESHAYAH 6:9-10, TARGUM HASHIVIM)

13 And Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says to them, Do you not have daas of the meaning of this mashal? Then how will you have binah of all the meshalim?

14 The one sowing sows the dvar Hashem.

15 And these are the ones beside the road where the dvar Hashem is sown. And when they hear it, ofen ort Hasatan comes and takes the dvar that has been sown in them.

16 And these are the ones sown upon the rocky places: when they hear the dvar, ofen ort with simcha they receive it.

17 Yet they do not have a shoresh (root) in themselves but are transitory; then when ES TZARAH comes or redifah (persecution) on account of the dvar, ofen ort they fall away, they become shmad. [YIRMEYAH 30:7; Mattityahu 24:21-22]

18 And others are the ones sown among thorns. These are the ones having heard the dvar,

19 and the worries of the Olam Hazeh and the seduction of ashires (riches) and the desires for other things come in and choke the dvar Hashem and it does not bear pri.

20 And these are the ones sown upon adamah tovah: they hear the dvar Hashem and are mekabel (receive) the dvar Hashem and bear pri, thirty, sixty and one hundredfold.

21 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was saying to them, Surely a menorah is not brought out in order that it may be put under a measuring bucket or under the couch? Rather, is it not brought out that it may be placed on the shulchan?

22 For there is not [anything] nistar except that it may be made nikar nor has it become concealed but that it may come into [the] open. [YIRMEYAH 16:17]

23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

24 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was saying to them, Pay attention! By what measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.

25 For whoever has, it will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

26 And he was saying, Thus is the Malchut Hashem: like a man who casts seed upon the soil,

27 And goes to sleep blailah (at night) and arises byom (at day), and the seed sprouts up and grows in such a way that he does not have daas of how it does so.

28 On its own, the soil bears pri: first the blade, then a head of grain, then full wheat in the head.

29 But when the crop is ripe, ofen ort (immediately) he puts forth the MAGGAL, KI VASHAL KATZIR (sickle, for the harvest is ripe. [YOEL 3:13]

30 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was saying, To what should we compare the Malchut Hashem or by what mashal (parable) may we present it?

31 The Malchut Hashem is like a mustard seed, which, when it is sown on the soil, is smaller [than] all the seeds on the earth:

32 But when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater [than] all the plants of the garden and puts forth large branches, so that the OPH HASHOMAYIM can nest under its shade.

33 And with many such meshalim, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshich was speaking to them the dvar Hashem as they were able to hear.

34 But apart from meshalim, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was not speaking to them. Only privately, in a yechidus, was Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach explaining everything to his own talmidim.

35 And on that day, when erev had come, Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says to them, Let us go over to the other side of the lake.

36 And leaving the multitude, they took Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, just as he was, in the sirah (boat), and other sirot (boats) were with him.

37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind and the waves were beating against the sirah (boat), so that it was already filling up.

38 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was in the stern on the cushion sleeping, and they woke him up, and they say to him, Rebbe, does it not matter to you that we are perishing?

39 And having been awakened, Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach rebuked the wind, and he spoke to the lake, Sha! Be still! And there was a great calm.

40 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, Why do you have morech lev (cowardliness)? Do you still not have emunah?

41 And they were afraid with a terrible pachad (terror), and they were saying to one another, Who then is this that even the wind and the sea obey him?
