3 E outra vez entrou na sinagoga, e estava ali um homem que tinha uma das mãos mirrada. 2 E estavam observando-o se curaria no sábado, para o acusarem. 3 E disse ao homem que tinha a mão mirrada: Levanta-te e vem para o meio. 4 E perguntou-lhes: É lícito no sábado fazer bem ou fazer mal? Salvar a vida ou matar? E eles calaram-se. 5 E, olhando para eles em redor com indignação, condoendo-se da dureza do seu coração, disse ao homem: Estende a mão. E ele a estendeu, e foi-lhe restituída a mão, sã como a outra. 6 E, tendo saído os fariseus, tomaram logo conselho com os herodianos contra ele, procurando ver como o matariam.
7 E retirou-se Jesus com os seus discípulos para o mar, e seguia-o uma grande multidão da Galileia, e da Judeia, 8 e de Jerusalém, e da Idumeia, e dalém do Jordão, e de perto de Tiro, e de Sidom; uma grande multidão que, ouvindo quão grandes coisas fazia, vinha ter com ele. 9 E ele disse aos seus discípulos que lhe tivessem sempre pronto um barquinho junto dele, por causa da multidão, para que o não comprimisse, 10 porque tinha curado a muitos, de tal maneira que todos quantos tinham algum mal se arrojavam sobre ele, para lhe tocarem. 11 E os espíritos imundos, vendo-o, prostravam-se diante dele e clamavam, dizendo: Tu és o Filho de Deus. 12 E ele os ameaçava muito, para que não o manifestassem.
A eleição dos doze(B)
13 E subiu ao monte e chamou para si os que ele quis; e vieram a ele. 14 E nomeou doze para que estivessem com ele e os mandasse a pregar 15 e para que tivessem o poder de curar as enfermidades e expulsar os demônios: 16 Simão, a quem pôs o nome de Pedro; 17 Tiago, filho de Zebedeu, e João, irmão de Tiago, aos quais pôs o nome de Boanerges, que significa: Filhos do trovão; 18 André, e Filipe, e Bartolomeu, e Mateus, e Tomé, e Tiago, filho de Alfeu, e Tadeu, e Simão, o Zelote, 19 e Judas Iscariotes, o que o traiu.
A blasfêmia dos escribas(C)
20 E foram para uma casa. E afluiu outra vez a multidão, de tal maneira que nem sequer podiam comer pão. 21 E, quando os seus parentes ouviram isso, saíram para o prender, porque diziam: Está fora de si. 22 E os escribas, que tinham descido de Jerusalém, diziam: Tem Belzebu e pelo príncipe dos demônios expulsa os demônios. 23 E, chamando-os a si, disse-lhes por parábolas: Como pode Satanás expulsar Satanás? 24 Se um reino se dividir contra si mesmo, tal reino não pode subsistir; 25 e se uma casa se dividir contra si mesma, tal casa não pode subsistir. 26 Se Satanás se levantar contra si mesmo, e for dividido, não pode subsistir; antes, tem fim. 27 Ninguém pode roubar os bens do valente, entrando-lhe em sua casa, se primeiro não manietar o valente; e, então, roubará a sua casa. 28 Na verdade vos digo que todos os pecados serão perdoados aos filhos dos homens, e toda sorte de blasfêmias, com que blasfemarem. 29 Qualquer, porém, que blasfemar contra o Espírito Santo, nunca obterá perdão, mas será réu do eterno juízo. 30 (Porque diziam: Tem espírito imundo.)
A família de Jesus(D)
31 Chegaram, então, seus irmãos e sua mãe; e, estando de fora, mandaram-no chamar. 32 E a multidão estava assentada ao redor dele, e disseram-lhe: Eis que tua mãe e teus irmãos te procuram e estão lá fora. 33 E ele lhes respondeu, dizendo: Quem é minha mãe e meus irmãos? 34 E, olhando em redor para os que estavam assentados junto dele disse: Eis aqui minha mãe e meus irmãos. 35 Porquanto qualquer que fizer a vontade de Deus, esse é meu irmão, e minha irmã, e minha mãe.

Jesus cura um homem no sábado
(Mt 12.9-14; Lc 6.6-11)
3 Numa outra ocasião, Jesus entrou novamente na sinagoga. Ali também se encontrava um homem que tinha uma das mãos paralizada. 2 Algumas pessoas, porém, estavam lá somente para observar Jesus de perto. Eles queriam ver se Jesus iria curar alguém no sábado, pois assim eles poderiam acusá-lo. 3 Jesus disse ao homem com a mão paralizada:
—Levante-se e coloque-se de frente para todos.
4 Depois Jesus perguntou:
—O que é permitido fazer no sábado: o bem ou o mal? É permitido salvar uma vida ou destruí-la? Mas ninguém lhe respondeu nada. 5 Jesus, então, olhou muito zangado para eles à sua volta e, ao mesmo tempo, ficou triste por causa da dureza dos seus corações. Ele se dirigiu ao homem e lhe disse:
—Estenda a sua mão.
O homem a estendeu e ela ficou curada. 6 Os fariseus, então, saíram e, encontrando-se com os herodianos, começaram imediatamente a fazer planos para matá-lo.
A cura de muitos na praia
7 Jesus partiu com os seus discípulos para o lago da Galileia, mas uma grande multidão o seguia. Eram pessoas vindas das regiões da Galileia e da Judeia, 8 de Jerusalém e da Idumeia. Muitos também eram de regiões que ficavam do outro lado do rio Jordão e dos arredores das cidades de Tiro e de Sidom. Eles formavam uma enorme multidão e tinham vindo porque ouviram falar de todas as coisas que Jesus fazia. 9 A multidão era tão grande que Jesus pediu aos seus discípulos que lhe arranjassem um barco para que assim ele não fosse apertado pelo povo.
10 Ele já tinha curado muita gente e, por causa disso, muitos doentes tentavam a todo custo chegar mais perto de Jesus, a fim de poder tocar nele. 11 Quando os demônios o viam, caíam no chão na sua frente e gritavam:
—Você é o Filho de Deus!
12 Mas Jesus os advertia severamente para que eles não dissessem quem ele era.
Jesus escolhe os doze apóstolos
(Mt 10.1-4; Lc 6.12-16)
13 Jesus subiu a um monte e chamou para si aqueles que ele queria. Eles foram e, 14 dentre eles, Jesus escolheu doze, a quem chamou de apóstolos. Jesus os escolheu para que eles andassem sempre com ele, e também para que pudesse enviá-los a proclamar sua mensagem, 15 dando-lhes poder até para expulsar demônios. 16 Estes doze foram os escolhidos:
Simão (a quem Jesus deu o nome de Pedro),
17 Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu (aos quais deu o nome de Boanerges, que quer dizer “Filhos do Trovão”),
18 André,
Filipe,
Bartolomeu,
Mateus,
Tomé,
Tiago, o filho de Alfeu,
Tadeu,
Simão, que pertencia ao grupo dos zelotes;[a]
19 e Judas Iscariotes (que foi quem o traiu).
O poder de Jesus vem de Deus
(Mt 12.22-32; Lc 11.14-23; 12.10)
20 Depois disso Jesus voltou para casa, mas novamente uma grande multidão se reuniu. Havia tanta gente que Jesus e seus discípulos nem sequer podiam comer. 21 Quando os parentes de Jesus ficaram sabendo dessas coisas, foram buscá-lo, pois as pessoas estavam dizendo que ele tinha perdido a razão.
22 Os professores da lei, que tinham vindo de Jerusalém, diziam:
—Ele está possuído por Belzebu, o chefe dos demônios! É pelo poder dele que Jesus expulsa os demônios!
23 Jesus, então, os chamou para perto dele e, por meio de parábolas, lhes disse:
—Como é que Satanás pode expulsar Satanás? 24 Um reino que estiver dividido e lutar contra si mesmo, não pode durar. 25 Uma família que estiver dividida e lutar contra si mesma, não pode durar. 26 Se Satanás se opuser a si mesmo e estiver dividido, ele não durará, porém este será o seu fim. 27 Ninguém entra na casa de um homem forte para lhe roubar os bens sem primeiro amarrá-lo. Depois de fazer isso, então, o ladrão pode entrar e roubar a casa. 28 Digo a verdade a vocês: Deus perdoará aos homens todos os pecados que cometerem e também todas as coisas más que disserem contra Deus. 29 Mas Deus não perdoará ao homem que insulte o Espírito Santo, esse não será perdoado, uma vez que ele é culpado de pecado eterno.
30 (Jesus disse isto porque eles diziam que ele estava possuído por um demônio.)
A verdadeira família de Jesus são seus discípulos
(Mt 12.46-50; Lc 8.19-21)
31 Logo em seguida chegaram a mãe e os irmãos de Jesus. Eles ficaram do lado de fora e mandaram chamá-lo. 32 A multidão sentada à tua volta lhe disse:
—A tua mãe e os teus irmãos[b] estão aí fora, perguntando por você.
33 Jesus, então, disse:
—Quem é a minha mãe e quem são os meus irmãos?
34 Depois, olhando para os que estavam sentados no círculo ao seu redor, disse:
—Aqui estão a minha mãe e os meus irmãos! 35 Todo aquele que faz a vontade de Deus é meu irmão, minha irmã e minha mãe.

6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
3 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)
Crowds Follow Jesus(F)
7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(G) 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(H) 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(I) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(J) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(K) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(L)
Jesus Appoints the Twelve(M)
13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.(N) 14 He appointed twelve[a](O) that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.(P) 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),(Q) 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(R)(S)
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(T) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(U) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(V)
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(W) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(X) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(Y)
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(Z) “How can Satan(AA) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(AB) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(AC)
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(AD) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
