¡Él está vivo!

16 Cuando terminó el descanso obligatorio de los judíos, María Magdalena, Salomé y María la madre de Santiago compraron perfumes para untárselos al cuerpo de Jesús. Así que, el domingo en la mañana, cuando el sol apenas había salido, fueron a la tumba de Jesús. 3-4 Mientras caminaban, se decían unas a otras: «¿Quién quitará la piedra que tapa la entrada de la tumba? ¡Esa piedra es muy grande!» Pero, al mirar la tumba, vieron que la piedra ya no tapaba la entrada.

«No se asusten. Ustedes están buscando a Jesús, el de Nazaret, el que murió en la cruz. No está aquí; ha resucitado. Vean el lugar donde habían puesto su cuerpo. Y ahora, vayan y cuenten a sus discípulos y a Pedro que Jesús va a Galilea para llegar antes que ellos. Allí podrán verlo, tal como les dijo antes de morir.»

Las mujeres, temblando de miedo, huyeron de la tumba. Pero no le dijeron nada a nadie porque estaban muy asustadas.[a]

Jesús se le aparece a María Magdalena

El domingo muy temprano, después de que Jesús resucitó, se le apareció a María Magdalena. Tiempo atrás, Jesús había expulsado de ella a siete demonios.

10 Mientras los discípulos estaban tristes y llorando por la muerte de Jesús, llegó ella y les contó que Jesús estaba vivo. 11 Pero ellos no creyeron que Jesús estuviera vivo ni que María lo hubiera visto.

Jesús se les aparece a dos discípulos

12 Después Jesús se les apareció a dos discípulos que iban por el campo. 13 Estos dos discípulos fueron y les avisaron a los demás, pero tampoco les creyeron.

La misión de los discípulos

14 Luego, Jesús se les apareció a los once discípulos mientras ellos comían. Los reprendió por su falta de confianza y por su terquedad; ellos no habían creído a los que lo habían visto resucitado. 15 Jesús les dijo:

«Vayan por todos los países del mundo y anuncien las buenas noticias a todo el mundo. 16 Los que crean en mí y se bauticen, serán salvos. Pero a los que no crean en mí, yo los voy a rechazar. 17 Los que confíen en mí y usen mi nombre podrán hacer cosas maravillosas: Podrán expulsar demonios; podrán hablar idiomas nuevos y extraños; 18 podrán agarrar serpientes o beber algo venenoso, y nada les pasará. Además, pondrán las manos sobre los enfermos y los sanarán.»

Jesús sube al cielo

19 Cuando el Señor Jesús terminó de hablar con sus discípulos, Dios lo subió al cielo. Allí, Jesús se sentó en el lugar de honor, al lado derecho de Dios.

20 Y los discípulos, por su parte, salieron a anunciar por todas partes las buenas noticias del reino. El Señor Jesús los acompañaba y los ayudaba por medio de señales milagrosas, y así Dios demostraba que los discípulos predicaban el mensaje verdadero. Amén.

Otra manera de finalizar el libro de Marcos

9-10 Las tres mujeres fueron a ver a Pedro y a los otros discípulos, y les dieron un corto informe de lo que ellas habían oído. Después, Jesús envió a los discípulos a todos los países del mundo, para anunciar el mensaje especial de Dios, que durará para siempre.

  1. Marcos 16:8 Existen tres formas de finalizar el Evangelio de Marcos. La primera y, quizá, la más original es la que finaliza en el capítulo 16 versículo 8 (16.8). Los más antiguos y mejores manuscritos apoyan este final. La segunda forma es la de 16.9-20. Pero este final usa un vocabulario y un estilo muy distintos a los que se usan en el resto del Evangelio de Marcos. Resurrection Morning

16 When(A) the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene,(B) Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they could go and anoint him. Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week,(C) they went to the tomb(D) at sunrise. They were saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone from the entrance to the tomb for us? ’ Looking up, they noticed that the stone – which was very large – had been rolled away.

When(E) they entered the tomb,(F) they saw a young man(G) dressed(H) in a white(I) robe sitting on the right side; they were alarmed. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he told them. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth,(J) who was crucified. He has risen!(K) He is not here. See the place where they put him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter,(L) “He is going ahead of you to Galilee;(M) you will see him there just as he told you.” ’

They went out and ran from the tomb,(N) because trembling and astonishment overwhelmed them. And they said nothing to anyone,(O) since they were afraid.

The Longer Ending of Mark: Appearances of the Risen Lord

[Early(P) on the first day of the week,(Q) after he had risen,(R) he appeared first to Mary Magdalene,(S) out of whom he had driven seven demons.(T) 10 She went and reported to those who had been with him, as they were mourning and weeping. 11 Yet, when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.(U)

12 After this, he appeared(V) in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.(W) 13 And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.

The Great Commission

14 Later he appeared to the Eleven(X) themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw him after he had risen.(Y) 15 Then(Z) he said to them, ‘Go into all the world(AA) and preach the gospel to all creation.(AB) 16 Whoever believes(AC) and is baptised will be saved,(AD) but whoever does not believe will be condemned.(AE) 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;[b] 18 they will pick up snakes;[c](AF) if they should drink anything deadly, it will not harm(AG) them; they will lay hands on(AH) the sick, and they will get well.’

Chapter 16

The Resurrection of Jesus.[a] When the sabbath was over,(A) Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him.(B) Very early when the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb. They were saying to one another, “Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large. On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed.(C) He said to them, “Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him. The Commissioning of the Eleven. 14 (H)[But] later, as the eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised. 15 (I)He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. 18 They will pick up serpents [with their hands], and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”(J)

  1. 16:1–8 The purpose of this narrative is to show that the tomb is empty and that Jesus has been raised (Mk 16:6) and is going before you to Galilee (Mk 16:7) in fulfillment of Mk 14:28. The women find the tomb empty, and an angel stationed there announces to them what has happened. They are told to proclaim the news to Peter and the disciples in order to prepare them for a reunion with him. Mark’s composition of the gospel ends at Mk 16:8 with the women telling no one, because they were afraid. This abrupt termination causes some to believe that the original ending of this gospel may have been lost. See the following note.

    This passage, termed the Longer Ending to the Marcan gospel by comparison with a much briefer conclusion found in some less important manuscripts, has traditionally been accepted as a canonical part of the gospel and was defined as such by the Council of Trent. Early citations of it by the Fathers indicate that it was composed by the second century, although vocabulary and style indicate that it was written by someone other than Mark. It is a general resume of the material concerning the appearances of the risen Jesus, reflecting, in particular, traditions found in Lk 24 and Jn 20.

    The Shorter Ending: Found after Mk 16:8 before the Longer Ending in four seventh-to-ninth-century Greek manuscripts as well as in one Old Latin version, where it appears alone without the Longer Ending.

    The Freer Logion: Found after Mk 16:14 in a fourth-fifth century manuscript preserved in the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, this ending was known to Jerome in the fourth century. It reads: “And they excused themselves, saying, ‘This age of lawlessness and unbelief is under Satan, who does not allow the truth and power of God to prevail over the unclean things dominated by the spirits [or, does not allow the unclean things dominated by the spirits to grasp the truth and power of God]. Therefore reveal your righteousness now.’ They spoke to Christ. And Christ responded to them, ‘The limit of the years of Satan’s power is completed, but other terrible things draw near. And for those who sinned I was handed over to death, that they might return to the truth and no longer sin, in order that they might inherit the spiritual and incorruptible heavenly glory of righteousness. But….’”
