Parábola de los labradores malvados
12 (A)Entonces comenzó a hablarles en parábolas(B): Un hombre plantó una viña y la cercó con un muro[a], cavó un estanque debajo del lagar y edificó una torre(C); la arrendó a labradores y se fue de viaje. 2 Al tiempo de la vendimia envió un siervo a los labradores para recibir de los labradores su parte de los frutos de la viña. 3 Pero ellos, echándole mano, lo golpearon y lo enviaron con las manos vacías. 4 De nuevo les mandó otro siervo, y a él lo hirieron en la cabeza y lo trataron vergonzosamente. 5 Y envió a otro y a este lo mataron; y así con otros muchos, golpeando a unos y matando a otros. 6 Todavía le quedaba[b] uno, un hijo amado; y les envió a este último, diciendo: «Respetarán a mi hijo». 7 Pero aquellos labradores se dijeron entre sí: «Este es el heredero; ¡venid, matémosle, y la heredad será nuestra!». 8 Y echándole mano, lo mataron y lo arrojaron fuera de la viña. 9 ¿Qué hará, entonces, el dueño[c] de la viña? Vendrá y destruirá a los labradores, y dará la viña a otros. 10 ¿Ni aun esta Escritura habéis leído:
«La piedra que desecharon los constructores,
esa, en piedra angular[d] se ha convertido(D);
11 esto fue hecho de parte del Señor,
y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos(E)»?
12 Y procuraban prenderle(F), pero temían a la multitud, porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho la parábola. Y dejándole, se fueron(G).
El pago del impuesto al César
13 (H)Y le enviaron* algunos de los fariseos y de los herodianos(I) para sorprenderle en alguna palabra(J). 14 Y cuando ellos llegaron*, le dijeron*: Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que no buscas el favor[e] de nadie, porque eres imparcial[f], y enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad. ¿Es lícito pagar[g] impuesto al César, o no? 15 ¿Pagaremos[h] o no pagaremos[i]? Pero Él, dándose cuenta de su hipocresía, les dijo: ¿Por qué me estáis poniendo a prueba? Traedme un denario[j] para verlo. 16 Se lo trajeron, y Él les dijo*: ¿De quién es esta imagen y la inscripción? Y ellos le dijeron: Del César. 17 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Dad al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios(K). Y se maravillaban de Él.
Pregunta sobre la resurrección
18 (L)Y algunos saduceos (los que dicen que no hay resurrección) se le acercaron*, y le preguntaban, diciendo: 19 Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito: Si el hermano de alguno muere y deja mujer y no deja hijo, que su hermano tome la mujer y levante descendencia a su hermano(M). 20 Hubo siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar descendencia. 21 Y el segundo la tomó, y murió sin dejar descendencia; y asimismo el tercero; 22 y así los siete, sin dejar descendencia. Y por último murió también la mujer. 23 En la resurrección, cuando resuciten[k], ¿de cuál de ellos será mujer? Pues los siete la tuvieron por mujer. 24 Jesús les dijo: ¿No es esta la razón por la que estáis equivocados: que no entendéis[l] las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios? 25 Porque cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ni se casarán ni serán dados en matrimonio, sino que serán como los ángeles en los cielos. 26 Y en cuanto a que los muertos resucitan, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés, en el pasaje(N) sobre la zarza ardiendo, cómo Dios le habló, diciendo: «Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob(O)»? 27 Él no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos(P); vosotros estáis muy equivocados.
El mandamiento supremo
28 (Q)Cuando uno de los escribas se acercó, los oyó discutir, y reconociendo que les había contestado bien(R), le preguntó: ¿Cuál mandamiento es el más importante[m] de todos? 29 Jesús respondió: El más importante[n] es: «Escucha, Israel; el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es(S); 30 y amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente, y con toda tu fuerza(T)». 31 El segundo es este: «Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo(U)». No hay otro mandamiento mayor que estos. 32 Y el escriba le dijo: Muy bien, Maestro; con verdad has dicho que Él es uno, y no hay otro además de Él(V); 33 y que amarle con todo el corazón y con todo el entendimiento y con todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo(W), es más que todos los holocaustos y los sacrificios(X). 34 Viendo Jesús que él había respondido sabiamente, le dijo: No estás lejos del reino de Dios. Y después de eso, nadie se aventuraba a hacerle más preguntas(Y).
Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David
35 (Z)Y tomando la palabra, Jesús decía mientras enseñaba en el templo(AA): ¿Por qué[o] dicen los escribas que el Cristo[p] es hijo de David(AB)? 36 David mismo dijo por el Espíritu Santo:
«El Señor dijo a mi Señor:
“siéntate a mi diestra,
hasta que ponga a tus enemigos debajo de tus pies(AC)”».
37 David mismo le llama «Señor». ¿En qué sentido es, pues, su hijo? Y la gran multitud(AD) le escuchaba con gusto.
Advertencia contra los escribas
38 (AE)Y en su enseñanza les decía: Cuidaos de los escribas, a quienes les gusta andar con vestiduras largas, y aman los saludos respetuosos en las plazas(AF), 39 los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los lugares de honor en los banquetes; 40 que devoran las casas de las viudas, y por las apariencias hacen largas oraciones; estos recibirán mayor condenación(AG).
La ofrenda de la viuda
41 (AH)Jesús se sentó frente al arca del tesoro(AI), y observaba cómo la multitud echaba dinero[q] en el arca del tesoro(AJ); y muchos ricos echaban grandes cantidades. 42 Y llegó una viuda pobre y echó dos pequeñas monedas de cobre[r], o sea, un cuadrante[s]. 43 Y llamando a sus discípulos, les dijo: En verdad os digo, que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos los contribuyentes al[t] tesoro; 44 porque todos ellos echaron de lo que les sobra[u], pero ella, de su pobreza echó todo lo que poseía, todo lo que tenía para vivir[v](AK).

La piedra que desecharon los edificadores
Ha venido a ser cabeza del ángulo;
11 El Señor ha hecho esto,
Y es cosa maravillosa a nuestros ojos(B)?
12 Y procuraban prenderle, porque entendían que decía contra ellos aquella parábola; pero temían a la multitud, y dejándole, se fueron.
La cuestión del tributo
(Mt. 22.15-22; Lc. 20.20-26)
13 Y le enviaron algunos de los fariseos y de los herodianos, para que le sorprendiesen en alguna palabra. 14 Viniendo ellos, le dijeron: Maestro, sabemos que eres hombre veraz, y que no te cuidas de nadie; porque no miras la apariencia de los hombres, sino que con verdad enseñas el camino de Dios. ¿Es lícito dar tributo a César, o no? ¿Daremos, o no daremos? 15 Mas él, percibiendo la hipocresía de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis? La pregunta sobre la resurrección
(Mt. 22.23-33; Lc. 20.27-40)
18 Entonces vinieron a él los saduceos, que dicen que no hay resurrección,(C) y le preguntaron, diciendo: 19 Maestro, Moisés nos escribió(D) que si el hermano de alguno muriere y dejare esposa, pero no dejare hijos, que su hermano se case con ella, y levante descendencia a su hermano. 20 Hubo siete hermanos; el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar descendencia. 21 Y el segundo se casó con ella, y murió, y tampoco dejó descendencia; y el tercero, de la misma manera. 22 Y así los siete, y no dejaron descendencia; y después de todos murió también la mujer. 23 En la resurrección, pues, cuando resuciten, ¿de cuál de ellos será ella mujer, ya que los siete la tuvieron por mujer?
24 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: ¿No erráis por esto, porque ignoráis las Escrituras, y el poder de Dios? 25 Porque cuando resuciten de los muertos, ni se casarán ni se darán en casamiento, sino serán como los ángeles que están en los cielos. 26 Pero respecto a que los muertos resucitan, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés cómo le habló Dios en la zarza, diciendo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob?(E) 27 Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino Dios de vivos; así que vosotros mucho erráis.
El gran mandamiento
(Mt. 22.34-40)
28 Acercándose uno de los escribas, que los había oído disputar, y sabía que les había respondido bien, le preguntó:(F) ¿Cuál es el primer mandamiento de todos? 29 Jesús le respondió: El primer mandamiento de todos es: Oye, Israel; el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es. 30 Y amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas.(G) Este es el principal mandamiento. 31 Y el segundo es semejante: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.(H) No hay otro mandamiento mayor que estos. 32 Entonces el escriba le dijo: Bien, Maestro, verdad has dicho, que uno es Dios, y no hay otro fuera de él;(I) 33 y el amarle con todo el corazón, con todo el entendimiento, con toda el alma, y con todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo, es más que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios.(J) 34 Jesús entonces, viendo que había respondido sabiamente, le dijo: No estás lejos del reino de Dios. Y ya ninguno osaba preguntarle.
¿De quién es hijo el Cristo?
(Mt. 22.41-46; Lc. 20.41-44)
35 Enseñando Jesús en el templo, decía: ¿Cómo dicen los escribas que el Cristo es hijo de David? 36 Porque el mismo David dijo por el Espíritu Santo:
Dijo el Señor a mi Señor:
Siéntate a mi diestra,
Hasta que ponga tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.(K)
37 David mismo le llama Señor; ¿cómo, pues, es su hijo? Y gran multitud del pueblo le oía de buena gana.
Jesús acusa a los escribas
(Mt. 23.1-36; Lc. 11.37-54; 20.45-47)
38 Y les decía en su doctrina: Guardaos de los escribas, que gustan de andar con largas ropas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas, 39 y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros asientos en las cenas; 40 que devoran las casas de las viudas, y por pretexto hacen largas oraciones. Estos recibirán mayor condenación.

3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Parable of the Vine-growers
12 (A)And He began to speak to them in parables: “(B)A man (C)planted a vineyard and put a [a]wall around it, and dug a vat under the wine press and built a tower, and rented it out to [b]vine-growers and went on a journey. 2 At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, in order to receive some of the produce of the vineyard from the vine-growers. 3 They took him, and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again he sent them another slave, and they wounded him in the head, and treated him shamefully. 5 And he sent another, and that one they killed; and so with many others, beating some and killing others. 6 He had one more to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those vine-growers said to one another, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’ 8 They took him, and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 What will the [c]owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vine-growers, and will give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not even read this Scripture:
‘(D)The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the chief corner stone;
11 (E)This came about from the Lord,
And it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
12 (F)And they were seeking to seize Him, and yet they feared the [d]people, for they understood that He spoke the parable against them. And so (G)they left Him and went away.
Jesus Answers the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes
13 (H)Then they *sent some of the Pharisees and (I)Herodians to Him in order to (J)trap Him in a statement. 14 They *came and *said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and [e]defer to no one; for You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it [f]lawful to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we pay or shall we not pay?” But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a [g]denarius to look at.” 16 They brought one. And He *said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.” 17 And Jesus said to them, “(K)Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they [h]were amazed at Him.
18 (L)Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) *came to Jesus, and began questioning Him, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that (M)if a man’s brother dies and leaves behind a wife and leaves no child, his brother should [i]marry the wife and raise up children to his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no children. 21 The second one [j]married her, and died leaving behind no children; and the third likewise; 22 and so [k]all seven left no children. Last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection, [l]when they rise again, which one’s wife will she be? For [m]all seven had married her.” 24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not [n]understand the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 But [o]regarding the fact that the dead rise again, have you not read in the book of Moses, (N)in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘(O)I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 (P)He is not the God [p]of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken.”
28 (Q)One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and (R)recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the [q]foremost of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘(S)Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30 (T)and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘(U)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 The scribe said to Him, “Right, Teacher; You have truly stated that (V)He is One, and there is no one else besides Him; 33 (W)and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as himself, (X)is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” (Y)After that, no one would venture to ask Him any more questions.
35 (Z)And Jesus began to say, as He (AA)taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that [r]the Christ is the (AB)son of David? 36 David himself said [s]in the Holy Spirit,
‘(AC)The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet.”’
37 David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; so in what sense is He his son?” And (AD)the large crowd [t]enjoyed listening to Him.
38 (AE)In His teaching He was saying: “Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like (AF)respectful greetings in the market places, 39 and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets, 40 (AG)who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation.”
The Widow’s Mite
41 (AH)And He sat down opposite (AI)the treasury, and began observing how the people were (AJ)putting [u]money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. 42 A poor widow came and put in two [v]small copper coins, which amount to a [w]cent. 43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all [x]the contributors to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their [y]surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, [z]all she had (AK)to live on.”

The Parable of the Wicked Tenants
12 Jesus began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a pit for the winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenant farmers and went on a journey. 2 When it was time, he sent a servant to the tenants to receive his share of the vineyard’s produce. 3 They took him, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again, he sent another servant to them. But they hit him on the head and treated him shamefully. 5 Then he sent another servant, but they killed that one. He also sent many others; some they beat, and others they killed. 6 He still had one left, a dearly loved son. Finally, he sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those tenant farmers said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come on, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 They seized him, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 So what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenant farmers and give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not read this Scripture:
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
11 The Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”[a]
12 They were looking for a way to arrest him, because they knew that he had spoken the parable against them. But they feared the crowd, so they left him and went away.
Paying Taxes to Caesar
13 The Jewish leaders sent some Pharisees and some Herodians to Jesus to try to trap him in what he said. 14 They came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest and do not play favorites, since you are not partial to anyone,[b] but you teach the way of God on the basis of the truth. Is it lawful to pay a tax to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay it or not?”
Since Jesus knew their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why do you keep testing me? Bring me a denarius so that I can look at it.”
16 So they brought one.
He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”
“Caesar’s,” they answered him.
17 Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
And they were amazed at him.
The God of the Living
18 Next some Sadducees (who say that there will be no resurrection) came to him. They asked him a question: 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us: ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves behind a wife but no child, then his brother should take his wife and raise up children for his brother.’[c]
20 “Now there were seven brothers. The first one took a wife and died without leaving children. 21 The second one married her and died, leaving no children. The third one did the same. 22 The seven left no children. Last of all, the woman also died. 23 So when they rise in the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since all seven had her as a wife?”
24 Jesus said to them, “Isn’t this the reason you are mistaken: that you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 In fact, when people rise from the dead, they do not marry, and they are not given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven. 26 But about the dead—that they are raised—have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?[d] 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken.”
Love God and Your Neighbor
28 One of the experts in the law approached after he heard their discussion. When he saw that Jesus had answered them well, he asked Jesus, “Which commandment is the greatest of all?”
29 Jesus answered, “The most important is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is one. 30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’[e] 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[f] There is no other commandment greater than these.”
32 The expert in the law said to him, “Well said, teacher. You have spoken correctly on the basis of the truth that he is one, and there is no other besides him.[g] 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”[h]
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
David’s Son and David’s Lord
35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he responded by saying, “How is it that the experts in the law say that the Christ is the Son of David? 36 David himself said by the Holy Spirit:
The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies a footstool under your feet.’[i]
37 “David himself calls him Lord, so how can he be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with delight.
Do Not Do What They Do
38 He also said to them in his teaching, “Beware of the experts in the law who like to walk around in long robes and receive greetings in the marketplaces. 39 They love the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 40 They devour widows’ houses and offer long prayers to look good. These men will receive greater condemnation.”
The Poor Widow’s Offering
41 Jesus sat down opposite the offering box and was watching how the crowd put money into it. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 One poor widow came and put in two small bronze coins,[j] worth less than a penny.[k] 43 He called his disciples together and said to them, “Amen I tell you: This poor widow put more into the offering box than all the others. 44 For they all gave out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all that she had to live on.”
