La entrada triunfal en Jerusalén
(Mt. 21.1-11; Lc. 19.28-40; Jn. 12.12-19)
11 Cuando se acercaban a Jerusalén, junto a Betfagé y a Betania, frente al monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió dos de sus discípulos, 2 y les dijo: Id a la aldea que está enfrente de vosotros, y luego que entréis en ella, hallaréis un pollino atado, en el cual ningún hombre ha montado; desatadlo y traedlo. 3 Y si alguien os dijere: ¿Por qué hacéis eso? decid que el Señor lo necesita, y que luego lo devolverá. 4 Fueron, y hallaron el pollino atado afuera a la puerta, en el recodo del camino, y lo desataron. 5 Y unos de los que estaban allí les dijeron: ¿Qué hacéis desatando el pollino? 6 Ellos entonces les dijeron como Jesús había mandado; y los dejaron. 7 Y trajeron el pollino a Jesús, y echaron sobre él sus mantos, y se sentó sobre él. 8 También muchos tendían sus mantos por el camino, y otros cortaban ramas de los árboles, y las tendían por el camino. 9 Y los que iban delante y los que venían detrás daban voces, diciendo: ¡Hosanna!(A) ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor!(B) 10 ¡Bendito el reino de nuestro padre David que viene! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!
11 Y entró Jesús en Jerusalén, y en el templo; y habiendo mirado alrededor todas las cosas, como ya anochecía, se fue a Betania con los doce.
Maldición de la higuera estéril
(Mt. 21.18-19)
12 Al día siguiente, cuando salieron de Betania, tuvo hambre. 13 Y viendo de lejos una higuera que tenía hojas, fue a ver si tal vez hallaba en ella algo; pero cuando llegó a ella, nada halló sino hojas, pues no era tiempo de higos. 14 Entonces Jesús dijo a la higuera: Nunca jamás coma nadie fruto de ti. Y lo oyeron sus discípulos.
Purificación del templo
(Mt. 21.12-17; Lc. 19.45-48; Jn. 2.13-22)
15 Vinieron, pues, a Jerusalén; y entrando Jesús en el templo, comenzó a echar fuera a los que vendían y compraban en el templo; y volcó las mesas de los cambistas, y las sillas de los que vendían palomas; 16 y no consentía que nadie atravesase el templo llevando utensilio alguno. 17 Y les enseñaba, diciendo: ¿No está escrito: Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todas las naciones(C)? Mas vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.(D) 18 Y lo oyeron los escribas y los principales sacerdotes, y buscaban cómo matarle; porque le tenían miedo, por cuanto todo el pueblo estaba admirado de su doctrina. 19 Pero al llegar la noche, Jesús salió de la ciudad.
La higuera maldecida se seca
(Mt. 21.19-22)
20 Y pasando por la mañana, vieron que la higuera se había secado desde las raíces. 21 Entonces Pedro, acordándose, le dijo: Maestro, mira, la higuera que maldijiste se ha secado. 22 Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Tened fe en Dios. 23 Porque de cierto os digo que cualquiera que dijere a este monte: Quítate y échate en el mar, y no dudare en su corazón, sino creyere que será hecho lo que dice, lo que diga le será hecho.(E) 24 Por tanto, os digo que todo lo que pidiereis orando, creed que lo recibiréis, y os vendrá. 25 Y cuando estéis orando, perdonad, si tenéis algo contra alguno, para que también vuestro Padre que está en los cielos os perdone a vosotros vuestras ofensas. 26 Porque si vosotros no perdonáis, tampoco vuestro Padre que está en los cielos os perdonará vuestras ofensas.(F)
La autoridad de Jesús
(Mt. 21.23-27; Lc. 20.1-8)
27 Volvieron entonces a Jerusalén; y andando él por el templo, vinieron a él los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos, 28 y le dijeron: ¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, y quién te dio autoridad para hacer estas cosas? 29 Jesús, respondiendo, les dijo: Os haré yo también una pregunta; respondedme, y os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas. 30 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, o de los hombres? Respondedme. 31 Entonces ellos discutían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos, del cielo, dirá: ¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis? 32 ¿Y si decimos, de los hombres…? Pero temían al pueblo, pues todos tenían a Juan como un verdadero profeta. 33 Así que, respondiendo, dijeron a Jesús: No sabemos. Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Tampoco yo os digo con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

Jesús entra en Jerusalén(A)
11 Cuando ya estaban cerca de Jerusalén, al aproximarse a los pueblos de Betfagé y Betania, en el Monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió a dos de sus discípulos, 2 diciéndoles:
—Vayan a la aldea que está enfrente, y al entrar en ella encontrarán un burro atado, que nadie ha montado todavía. Desátenlo y tráiganlo. 3 Y si alguien les pregunta por qué lo hacen, díganle que el Señor lo necesita y que en seguida lo devolverá.
4 Fueron, pues, y encontraron el burro atado en la calle, junto a una puerta, y lo desataron.
5 Algunos que estaban allí les preguntaron:
—¿Qué hacen ustedes? ¿Por qué desatan el burro?
6 Ellos contestaron lo que Jesús les había dicho; y los dejaron ir. 7 Pusieron entonces sus capas sobre el burro, y se lo llevaron a Jesús. Y Jesús montó. 8 Muchos tendían sus capas por el camino, y otros tendían ramas que habían cortado en el campo. 9 Y tanto los que iban delante como los que iban detrás, gritaban:
—¡Hosana! ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! 10 ¡Bendito el reino que viene, el reino de nuestro padre David! ¡Hosana en las alturas!
11 Entró Jesús en Jerusalén y se dirigió al templo. Miró por todas partes y luego se fue a Betania con los doce discípulos, porque ya era tarde.
Jesús maldice la higuera sin fruto(B)
12 Al día siguiente, cuando salían de Betania, Jesús sintió hambre. 13 De lejos vio una higuera que tenía hojas, y se acercó a ver si también tendría fruto, pero no encontró más que las hojas, porque no era tiempo de higos. 14 Entonces le dijo a la higuera:
—¡Nunca más vuelva nadie a comer de tu fruto!
Sus discípulos lo oyeron.
Jesús purifica el templo(C)
15 Después que llegaron a Jerusalén, Jesús entró en el templo y comenzó a echar de allí a los que estaban vendiendo y comprando. Volcó las mesas de los que cambiaban dinero a la gente, y los puestos de los que vendían palomas; 16 y no permitía que nadie pasara por el templo llevando cosas. 17 Y se puso a enseñar, diciendo:
—En las Escrituras dice: “Mi casa será declarada casa de oración para todas las naciones”, pero ustedes han hecho de ella una cueva de ladrones.
18 Al oír esto, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley comenzaron a buscar la manera de matar a Jesús, porque le tenían miedo, pues toda la gente estaba admirada de su enseñanza. 19 Pero al llegar la noche, Jesús y sus discípulos salieron de la ciudad.
Instrucción sobre la fe(D)
20 A la mañana siguiente pasaron junto a la higuera, y vieron que se había secado de raíz. 21 Entonces Pedro, acordándose de lo sucedido, le dijo a Jesús:
—Maestro, mira, la higuera que maldijiste se ha secado.
22 Jesús contestó:
—Tengan fe en Dios. 23 Pues les aseguro que si alguien le dice a este cerro: “¡Quítate de ahí y arrójate al mar!”, y no lo hace con dudas, sino creyendo que ha de suceder lo que dice, entonces sucederá. 24 Por eso les digo que todo lo que ustedes pidan en oración, crean que ya lo han conseguido, y lo recibirán. 25 Y cuando estén orando, perdonen lo que tengan contra otro, para que también su Padre que está en el cielo les perdone a ustedes sus pecados.
La autoridad de Jesús(E)
27 Después de esto regresaron a Jerusalén. Mientras Jesús andaba por el templo, se acercaron a él los jefes de los sacerdotes, los maestros de la ley y los ancianos, 28 y le preguntaron:
—¿Con qué autoridad haces esto? ¿Quién te dio la autoridad para hacerlo?
29-30 Jesús les contestó:
—Yo también les voy a hacer una pregunta: ¿Quién envió a Juan a bautizar, Dios o los hombres? Contéstenme, y yo les diré con qué autoridad hago esto.
31 Ellos se pusieron a discutir unos con otros: «Si respondemos que Dios lo envió, va a decir: “Entonces, ¿por qué no le creyeron?” 32 ¿Y cómo vamos a decir que lo enviaron los hombres?...» Tenían miedo de la gente, pues todos creían que Juan era un profeta. 33 Así que respondieron a Jesús:
—No lo sabemos.
Entonces Jesús les contestó:
—Pues yo tampoco les digo con qué autoridad hago esto.

11 When they were getting near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, He sent ahead two of His disciples
2 And instructed them, Go into the village in front of you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, which has never been ridden by anyone; unfasten it and bring it [here].
3 If anyone asks you, Why are you doing this? answer, The Lord needs it, and He will send it back here presently.
4 So they went away and found a colt tied at the door out in the [winding] open street, and they loosed it.
5 And some who were standing there said to them, What are you doing, untying the colt?
6 And they replied as Jesus had directed them, and they allowed them to go.
7 And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their outer garments upon it, and He sat on it.
8 And many [of the people] spread their garments on the road, and others [scattered a layer of] leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.
9 And those who went before and those who followed cried out [ [a]with a cry of happiness], Hosanna! [Be graciously inclined and propitious to Him!] Praised and blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord!(A)
10 Praised and blessed in the name of the Lord is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna (O save us) in the highest [heaven]!
11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and entered the temple [[b]enclosure]; and when He had looked around, surveying and observing everything, as it was already late, He went out to Bethany together with the Twelve [apostles].
12 On the day following, when they had come away from Bethany, He was hungry.
13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree [covered] with leaves, He went to see if He could find any [fruit] on it [[c]for in the fig tree the fruit appears at the same time as the leaves]. But when He came up to it, He found nothing but leaves, for the fig season had not yet come.
14 And He said to it, No one ever again shall eat fruit from you. And His disciples were listening [to what He said].
15 And they came to Jerusalem. And He went into the temple [area, the [d]porches and courts] and began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple area, and He overturned the [[e]four-footed] tables of the money changers and the seats of those who dealt in doves;
16 And He would not permit anyone to carry any household equipment through the temple enclosure [thus making the temple area a short-cut traffic lane].
17 And He taught and said to them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? But you have turned it into a den of robbers.(B)
18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard [of this] and kept seeking some way to destroy Him, for they feared Him, because the entire multitude was struck with astonishment at His teaching.
19 And when evening came on, He and [f]His disciples, as accustomed, went out of the city.
20 In the morning, when they were passing along, they noticed that the fig tree was withered [completely] away to its roots.
21 And Peter remembered and said to Him, Master, look! The fig tree which You doomed has withered away!
22 And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly].
23 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.
24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].
25 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and [g]let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.
26 [h]But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your failings and shortcomings.
27 And they came again to Jerusalem. And when Jesus was walking about in the [[i]courts and porches of the] temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him,
28 And they kept saying to Him, By what [sort of] authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do them?
29 Jesus told them, I will ask you a question. Answer Me, and then I will tell you by what [sort of] authority I do these things.
30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer Me.
31 And they reasoned and argued with one another, If we say, From heaven, He will say, Why then did you not believe him?
32 But [on the other hand] can we say, From men? For they were afraid of the people, because everybody considered and held John actually to be a prophet.
33 So they replied to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus said to them, Neither am I going to tell you what [sort of] authority I have for doing these things.
