La entrada triunfal
11 (A)Cuando se acercaban* a Jerusalén, por Betfagé y Betania(B), cerca del monte de los Olivos(C), envió* a dos de sus discípulos, 2 y les dijo*: Id a la aldea enfrente de vosotros, y tan pronto como entréis en ella, encontraréis un pollino atado en el cual nadie[a] se ha montado todavía; desatadlo y traedlo. 3 Y si alguien os dice: «¿Por qué hacéis eso?», decid: «El Señor lo necesita»; y enseguida lo devolverá[b] acá. 4 Ellos fueron y encontraron un pollino atado junto a la puerta, afuera en la calle, y lo desataron*. 5 Y algunos de los que estaban allí les dijeron[c]: ¿Qué hacéis desatando el pollino? 6 Ellos les respondieron tal como Jesús les había dicho, y les dieron permiso. 7 (D)Entonces trajeron* el pollino a Jesús y echaron encima sus mantos, y Jesús se sentó sobre él. 8 Y muchos tendieron sus mantos en el camino, y otros tendieron ramas que habían cortado de los campos. 9 Los que iban delante y los que le seguían, gritaban:
¡Hosanna!
Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor(E);
10 Bendito el reino de nuestro padre David que viene;
¡Hosanna en las alturas(F)!
11 Y entró en Jerusalén, llegó al templo(G), y después de mirar todo a su alrededor, salió para Betania(H) con los doce, siendo ya avanzada la hora.
La higuera estéril
12 (I)Al día siguiente, cuando salieron de Betania, Jesús tuvo hambre. 13 Y viendo de lejos una higuera con hojas, fue a ver si quizá pudiera hallar algo en ella; cuando llegó a ella, no encontró más que hojas, porque no era tiempo de higos. 14 Y Jesús, hablando[d] a la higuera, le dijo: Nunca jamás coma nadie fruto de ti. Y sus discípulos le estaban escuchando.
Jesús echa a los mercaderes del templo
15 (J)Llegaron* a Jerusalén; y entrando Jesús en el templo comenzó a echar fuera a los que vendían y compraban en el templo, volcó las mesas de los cambistas y los asientos de los que vendían las palomas; 16 y no permitía que nadie transportara objeto alguno a través del templo. 17 Y les enseñaba, diciendo[e]: ¿No está escrito: «Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todas las naciones(K)»? Pero vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones(L). 18 Los principales sacerdotes y los escribas oyeron esto y buscaban cómo destruirle(M), porque le tenían miedo, pues toda la multitud estaba admirada de su enseñanza(N).
19 Y cuando atardecía, solían salir[f] fuera de la ciudad(O).
El poder de la fe
20 (P)Por la mañana, cuando pasaban, vieron la higuera seca desde las raíces. 21 Entonces Pedro, acordándose, le dijo*: Rabí(Q), mira, la higuera que maldijiste se ha secado. 22 Y Jesús respondió*, diciéndoles: Tened fe en Dios(R). 23 En verdad os digo que cualquiera que diga a este monte(S): «Quítate y arrójate al mar», y no dude en su corazón, sino crea que lo que dice va a suceder, le será concedido. 24 Por eso os digo que todas las cosas por las que oréis y pidáis, creed que ya las habéis recibido, y os serán concedidas(T). 25 Y cuando estéis[g] orando(U), perdonad si tenéis algo contra alguien, para que también vuestro Padre que está en los cielos os perdone vuestras transgresiones(V). 26 [h]Pero si vosotros no perdonáis, tampoco vuestro Padre que está en los cielos perdonará vuestras transgresiones(W).
La autoridad de Jesús puesta en duda
27 Llegaron* de nuevo a Jerusalén; (X)y cuando Jesús andaba por el templo, se le acercaron* los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos, 28 y le dijeron: ¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, o quién te dio la autoridad para hacer esto? 29 Y Jesús les dijo: Yo también os haré una pregunta[i]; respondédmela, y entonces os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas. 30 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres? Respondedme. 31 Y ellos discurrían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos: «Del cielo», Él dirá: «Entonces, ¿por qué no le creísteis?». 32 ¿Mas si decimos: «De los hombres»? Pero temían a la multitud, porque todos consideraban que Juan verdaderamente había sido un profeta. 33 Y respondiendo a Jesús, dijeron*: No sabemos. Y Jesús les dijo*: Tampoco yo os diré[j] con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

La entrada triunfal(A)(B)
11 Cuando se acercaban a Jerusalén y llegaron a Betfagué y a Betania, junto al monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió a dos de sus discípulos 2 con este encargo: «Vayan a la aldea que tienen enfrente. Tan pronto como entren en ella, encontrarán atado un burrito, en el que nunca se ha montado nadie. Desátenlo y tráiganlo acá. 3 Y si alguien pregunta: “¿Por qué hacen eso?”, díganle: “El Señor lo necesita y enseguida lo devolverá”».
4 Fueron, encontraron un burrito afuera, en la calle, atado a un portón y lo desataron. 5 Entonces algunos de los que estaban allí preguntaron: «¿Qué hacen desatando el burrito?». 6 Ellos contestaron como Jesús había dicho y dejaron que lo desatara. 7 Llevaron, pues, el burrito a Jesús. Luego pusieron encima sus mantos y él se montó. 8 Muchos tendieron sus mantos sobre el camino; otros usaron ramas que habían cortado en los campos. 9 Tanto los que iban delante como los que iban detrás gritaban:
—¡Hosanna![a]
—¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor![b]
10 —¡Bendito el reino venidero de nuestro padre David!
—¡Hosanna en las alturas!
11 Jesús entró en Jerusalén y fue al Templo. Después de observarlo todo, como ya era tarde, salió para Betania con los doce.
Jesús purifica el Templo(C)(D)
12 Al día siguiente, cuando salían de Betania, Jesús tuvo hambre. 13 Viendo a lo lejos una higuera que tenía hojas, fue a ver si hallaba algún fruto. Cuando llegó a ella solo encontró hojas, porque no era tiempo de higos. 14 «¡Nadie vuelva jamás a comer fruto de ti!», dijo a la higuera. Y lo oyeron sus discípulos.
15 Llegaron, pues, a Jerusalén. Jesús entró en el Templo[c] y comenzó a echar de allí a los que compraban y vendían. Volcó las mesas de los que cambiaban dinero y los puestos de los que vendían palomas, 16 y no permitía que nadie atravesara el Templo llevando mercancías. 17 También les enseñaba con estas palabras: «¿No está escrito:
»“Mi casa será llamada
casa de oración para todos los pueblos”?[d]
Pero ustedes la han convertido en “cueva de ladrones”».[e]
18 Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la Ley lo oyeron y comenzaron a buscar la manera de matarlo, pues le temían, ya que toda la gente se maravillaba de sus enseñanzas.
19 Cuando cayó la tarde, salieron[f] de la ciudad.
La higuera seca(E)
20 Por la mañana, al pasar junto a la higuera, vieron que se había secado de raíz. 21 Pedro, acordándose, dijo a Jesús:
—¡Rabí, mira, se ha secado la higuera que maldijiste!
22 —Tengan fe en Dios —respondió Jesús—. 23 Les aseguro[g] que si alguno dice a este monte: “Quítate de ahí y tírate al mar”, creyendo, sin abrigar la menor duda en el corazón de que lo que dice sucederá, lo obtendrá. 24 Por eso les digo: Crean que ya han recibido todo lo que estén pidiendo en oración y lo obtendrán. 25 Y cuando estén orando, si tienen algo contra alguien, perdónenlo, para que también su Padre que está en el cielo perdone a ustedes sus ofensas. 26 [h]
La autoridad de Jesús puesta en duda(F)
27 Llegaron de nuevo a Jerusalén y, mientras Jesús andaba por el Templo, se acercaron los jefes de los sacerdotes, los maestros de la Ley y los líderes religiosos.
28 —¿Con qué autoridad haces esto? —lo interrogaron—. ¿Quién te dio autoridad para actuar así?
29 —Yo voy a hacerles una pregunta a ustedes —respondió él—. Contéstenmela y les diré con qué autoridad hago esto: 30 El bautismo de Juan, ¿procedía del cielo o de los hombres? Respóndanme.
31 Ellos comenzaron a discutir entre sí: «Si respondemos “del cielo”, nos dirá “entonces, ¿por qué no le creyeron?”. 32 Pero si decimos “de los hombres…”». Es que temían al pueblo, porque todos consideraban que Juan era realmente un profeta. 33 Así que respondieron a Jesús:
—No lo sabemos.
Jesús dijo:
—Pues yo tampoco les voy a decir con qué autoridad hago esto.

11 And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,
2 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.
3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.
4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.
7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
19 And when even was come, he went out of the city.
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

11 Y COMO fueron cerca de Jerusalem, de Bethphagé, y de Bethania, al monte de las Olivas, envía dos de sus discípulos,
2 Y les dice: Id al lugar que está delante de vosotros, y luego entrados en él, hallaréis un pollino atado, sobre el cual ningún hombre ha subido; desatadlo y traedlo.
3 Y si alguien os dijere: ¿Por qué hacéis eso? decid que el Señor lo ha menester: y luego lo enviará acá.
4 Y fueron, y hallaron el pollino atado á la puerta fuera, entre dos caminos; y le desataron.
5 Y unos de los que estaban allí, les dijeron: ¿Qué hacéis desatando el pollino?
6 Ellos entonces les dijeron como Jesús había mandado: y los dejaron.
7 Y trajeron el pollino á Jesús, y echaron sobre él sus vestidos, y se sentó sobre él.
8 Y muchos tendían sus vestidos por el camino, y otros cortaban hojas de los árboles, y las tendían por el camino.

15 Vienen, pues, á Jerusalem; y entrando Jesús en el templo, comenzó á echar fuera á los que vendían y compraban en el templo; y trastornó las mesas de los cambistas, y las sillas de los que vendían palomas;
16 Y no consentía que alguien llevase vaso por el templo.
17 Y les enseñaba diciendo: ¿No está escrito que mi casa, casa de oración será llamada por todas las gentes? Mas vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.
18 Y lo oyeron los escribas y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y procuraban cómo le matarían; porque le tenían miedo, por cuanto todo el pueblo estaba maravillado de su doctrina.
19 Mas como fué tarde, Jesús salió de la ciudad.
20 Y pasando por la mañana, vieron que la higuera se había secado desde las raíces.
21 Entonces Pedro acordándose, le dice: Maestro, he aquí la higuera que maldijiste, se ha secado.
22 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dice: Tened fe en Dios.
23 Porque de cierto os digo que cualquiera que dijere á este monte: Quítate, y échate en la mar, y no dudare en su corazón, mas creyere que será hecho lo que dice, lo que dijere le será hecho.
24 Por tanto, os digo que todo lo que orando pidiereis, creed que lo recibiréis, y os vendrá.
25 Y cuando estuviereis orando, perdonad, si tenéis algo contra alguno, para que vuestro Padre que está en los cielos os perdone también á vosotros vuestras ofensas.
26 Porque si vosotros no perdonareis, tampoco vuestro Padre que está en los cielos os perdonará vuestras ofensas.
27 Y volvieron á Jerusalem; y andando él por el templo, vienen á él los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y los ancianos;
28 Y le dicen: ¿Con qué facultad haces estas cosas? ¿y quién te ha dado esta facultad para hacer estas cosas?
29 Y Jesús respondiendo entonces, les dice: Os preguntaré también yo una palabra; y respondedme, y os diré con qué facultad hago estas cosas:
30 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, ó de los hombres? Respondedme.
31 Entonces ellos pensaron dentro de sí, diciendo: Si dijéremos, del cielo, dirá: ¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis?
32 Y si dijéremos, de los hombres, tememos al pueblo: porque todos juzgaban de Juan, que verdaderamente era profeta.
33 Y respondiendo, dicen á Jesús: No sabemos. Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dice: Tampoco yo os diré con qué facultad hago estas cosas.

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King(A)(B)
11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany(C) at the Mount of Olives,(D) Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden.(E) Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway.(F) As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna![a]”
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”(H)
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.(I)
Jesus Curses a Fig Tree and Clears the Temple Courts(J)(K)(L)
12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.(M) 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’[c]?(N) But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[d]”(O)
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,(P) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.(Q)
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples[e] went out of the city.(R)
20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(S) look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[f] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.(T) 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.(U) 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”(V) [26] [g]
The Authority of Jesus Questioned(W)
27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 28 “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?”
29 Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!”
31 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)(X)
33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”
Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
