4 Om Edom säger: ”Vi är krossade,
men vi ska bygga upp
ruinerna igen”,
så säger Herren Sebaot:
De bygger upp,
men jag ska riva ner.
De ska kallas
”gudlöshetens land”
och ”folket som Herren
är vred på för evigt”.
5 Era ögon ska se det,
och ni ska säga:
”Herren är upphöjd
utanför Israels gränser.”
Förakt för Herren
6 (A) En son hedrar sin far
och en tjänare sin herre.
Men om jag är en far,
var är då hedern jag borde få?
Och om jag är en herre,
var är då vördnaden för mig?
Detta säger Herren Sebaot
till er präster
som föraktar mitt namn.
Och ni frågar:
”Hur har vi föraktat ditt namn?”

4 Aunque Edom dice: Hemos sido destruidos(A), pero volveremos y edificaremos[a] las ruinas(B), el Señor de los ejércitos dice así: Ellos edificarán, pero yo destruiré(C). Y los llamarán territorio impío[b] y pueblo contra quien el Señor está indignado[c] para siempre(D). 5 Vuestros ojos lo verán, y vosotros diréis: Sea engrandecido[d](E) el Señor más allá de la frontera[e] de Israel.

6 El hijo honra a su padre(F), y el siervo a su señor. Pues si yo soy padre, ¿dónde está mi honor? Y si yo soy señor, ¿dónde está mi temor(G)? —dice el Señor de los ejércitos a vosotros sacerdotes que menospreciáis mi nombre(H)—. Pero vosotros decís: «¿En qué hemos menospreciado tu nombre?».

4 Edom(A) may say, “Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild(B) the ruins.”
But this is what the Lord Almighty says: “They may build, but I will demolish.(C) They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the Lord.(D) 5 You will see it with your own eyes and say, ‘Great(E) is the Lord—even beyond the borders of Israel!’(F)

6 “A son honors his father,(G) and a slave his master.(H) If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect(I) due me?” says the Lord Almighty.(J)
“It is you priests who show contempt for my name.
“But you ask,(K) ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’

4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath indignation for ever.
5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord will be magnified from the border of Israel.
6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
