The Day of the Lord’s Judging
4 “There is a day coming that will be like a hot furnace. All the proud and evil people will be like straw. On that day they will be completely burned up. Not a root or branch will be left,” says the Lord of heaven’s armies. 2 “But for you who honor me, goodness will shine on you like the sun. There will be healing in its rays. You will jump around, like calves freed from their stalls. 3 Then you will crush the wicked. They will be like ashes under your feet. I will do this on that day,” says the Lord of heaven’s armies.
4 “Remember the teaching of Moses my servant. I gave those laws and rules to him at Mount Sinai. They are for all the Israelites.
5 “But I will send Elijah the prophet to you. He will come before that great and terrible day of the Lord’s judging. 6 Elijah will help fathers love their children. And he will help the children love their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and put a curse on the land.”

4 [a]Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: “O dia do julgamento se aproxima e arde como uma fornalha. Naquele dia, serão queimados como palha os arrogantes e os perversos. Serão consumidos, desde as raízes até os ramos.
2 “Mas, para vocês que temem meu nome, o sol da justiça se levantará, trazendo cura em suas asas. E vocês sairão e saltarão de alegria, como bezerros soltos no pasto. 3 No dia em que eu agir, vocês pisarão sobre os perversos como se eles fossem pó sob os seus pés”, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
4 “Lembrem-se de obedecer à lei de Moisés, meu servo, a todos os decretos e estatutos que dei a todo o Israel no monte Sinai.[b]
5 “Vejam, eu lhes envio o profeta Elias antes da vinda do grande e terrível dia do Senhor. 6 Ele fará que o coração dos pais volte para seus filhos e o coração dos filhos volte para seus pais. Do contrário, eu virei e castigarei a terra com maldição.”

4 [a]“Surely the day is coming;(A) it will burn like a furnace.(B) All the arrogant(C) and every evildoer will be stubble,(D) and the day that is coming will set them on fire,(E)” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch(F) will be left to them. 2 But for you who revere my name,(G) the sun of righteousness(H) will rise with healing(I) in its rays. And you will go out and frolic(J) like well-fed calves. 3 Then you will trample(K) on the wicked; they will be ashes(L) under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty.
4 “Remember the law(M) of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb(N) for all Israel.(O)
5 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah(P) to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.(Q) 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children,(R) and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike(S) the land with total destruction.”(T)

4 “Watch now,” the Lord Almighty declares, “the day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. The proud and wicked will be burned up like straw; like a tree, they will be consumed—roots and all.
2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. 3 Then you will tread upon the wicked as ashes underfoot,” says the Lord Almighty. 4 “Remember to obey the laws I gave all Israel through Moses my servant on Mount Horeb.
5 “See, I will send you another prophet like Elijah[a] before the coming of the great and dreadful judgment day of God. 6 His preaching will bring fathers and children together again, to be of one mind and heart, for they will know that if they do not repent, I will come and utterly destroy their land.”
