New American Standard Bible
Final Admonition
4 “[a]For behold, the day is coming, (A)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be (B)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C)set them ablaze,” says the Lord of armies, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branches. 2 But for you who [b]fear My name, the (D)sun of righteousness will rise with (E)healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (F)frolic like calves from the stall.

A New Heaven and Earth
10 But (A)the day of the Lord (B)will come like a thief, in which (C)the heavens (D)will pass away with a roar and the (E)elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and (F)the earth and [a]its works will be [b]discovered.
11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 (G)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which (H)the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the (I)elements will melt with intense heat!

(C)Like cut thorns which are burned in the fire.
13 “You who are far away, (D)hear what I have done;
And you who are near, [c]acknowledge My might.”

(F)Trembling has seized the godless.
“Who among us can live with (G)the consuming fire?
Who among us can live with everlasting (H)burning?”
15 One who (I)walks righteously and speaks with integrity,
One who rejects [d]unjust gain
And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe;
One who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed
And (J)shuts his eyes from looking at evil;
16 He will dwell on the heights,
(K)His refuge will be the [e]impregnable rock;
(L)His bread will be given him,
His water will be sure.
