Malachi 3:5-15
King James Version
5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.
6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?
14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?
15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

Malachi 3:5-15
New International Version
5 “So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers,(A) adulterers(B) and perjurers,(C) against those who defraud laborers of their wages,(D) who oppress the widows(E) and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners(F) among you of justice, but do not fear(G) me,” says the Lord Almighty.
Breaking Covenant by Withholding Tithes
6 “I the Lord do not change.(H) So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.(I) 7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away(J) from my decrees and have not kept them. Return(K) to me, and I will return to you,”(L) says the Lord Almighty.
“But you ask,(M) ‘How are we to return?’
8 “Will a mere mortal rob(N) God? Yet you rob me.
“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’
“In tithes(O) and offerings. 9 You are under a curse(P)—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe(Q) into the storehouse,(R) that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates(S) of heaven and pour out(T) so much blessing(U) that there will not be room enough to store it.(V) 11 I will prevent pests from devouring(W) your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,(X)” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed,(Y) for yours will be a delightful land,”(Z) says the Lord Almighty.(AA)
Israel Speaks Arrogantly Against God
13 “You have spoken arrogantly(AB) against me,” says the Lord.
“Yet you ask,(AC) ‘What have we said against you?’
14 “You have said, ‘It is futile(AD) to serve(AE) God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements(AF) and going about like mourners(AG) before the Lord Almighty? 15 But now we call the arrogant(AH) blessed. Certainly evildoers(AI) prosper,(AJ) and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”
Malachi 3:5-15
English Standard Version
5 “Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be (A)a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those (B)who oppress the hired worker in his wages, (C)the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.
Robbing God
6 “For (D)I the Lord do not change; (E)therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. 7 (F)From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. (G)Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. (H)But you say, ‘How shall we return?’ 8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. (I)But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ (J)In your tithes and contributions. 9 (K)You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. 10 (L)Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby (M)put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open (N)the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. 11 I will rebuke (O)the devourer[a] for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts. 12 Then (P)all nations will call you blessed, for you will be (Q)a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.
13 (R)“Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. (S)But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’ 14 You have said, (T)‘It is vain to serve God. (U)What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? 15 And now we call (V)the arrogant blessed. (W)Evildoers not only prosper but (X)they put God to the test and they escape.’”

5 “I will come to you in judgment, and I will be ready to witness against sorcerers and adulterers; against those who swear falsely; against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien.(A) They do not fear me,”(B) says the Lord of Armies. 6 “Because I, the Lord, have not changed,(C) you descendants of Jacob have not been destroyed.[a](D)
Robbing God
7 “Since the days of your ancestors, you have turned from my statutes; you have not kept them.(E) Return to me,(F) and I will return to you,”(G) says the Lord of Armies.
Yet you ask, “How can we return?”
8 “Will a man rob(H) God? Yet you are robbing me!”
“How do we rob you?” you ask.
“By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions.(I) 9 You are suffering under a curse, yet[b] you—the whole nation—are still robbing me. 10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse(J) so that there may be food in my house.(K) Test me in this way,”(L) says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven(M) and pour out a blessing for you without measure.(N) 11 I will rebuke the devourer[c](O) for you, so that it will not ruin the produce of your land and your vine in your field will not fail to produce fruit,” says the Lord of Armies. 12 “Then all the nations will consider you fortunate, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of Armies.
The Righteous and the Wicked
13 “Your words against me are harsh,”(P) says the Lord.
Yet you ask, “What have we spoken against you?”
14 You have said, “It is useless to serve God. What have we gained by keeping his requirements(Q) and walking mournfully(R) before the Lord of Armies? 15 So now we consider the arrogant(S) to be fortunate.(T) Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God(U) and escape.”(V)
