⁷ For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should desire instruction from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the Lord of Armies.^(A)

¹⁴ But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again.^(A) In fact, the water I will give him will become a well^[a](B) of water springing up in him for eternal life.”^(C)

³⁸ The one who believes in me,^(A) as the Scripture^(B) has said, will have streams of living water^(C) flow^(D) from deep within him.”

²⁰ Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives^(A) me receives him who sent me.”

¹⁴ If anyone does not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet^(A) when you leave that house or town.

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me.^(A) Whoever rejects you rejects me.^(B) And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”^(C)

The Faithful Manager

4 A person should think of us in this way: as servants^(A) of Christ and managers^(B) of the mysteries of God.^(C)

²⁰ Therefore, we are ambassadors^(A) for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf,^(B) “Be reconciled to God.”
