Breaking Covenant Through Blemished Sacrifices

“A son honors his father,(C) and a slave his master.(D) If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect(E) due me?” says the Lord Almighty.(F)

“It is you priests who show contempt for my name.

“But you ask,(G) ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’

“By offering defiled food(H) on my altar.

“But you ask,(I) ‘How have we defiled you?’

“By saying that the Lord’s table(J) is contemptible.

Polluted Offerings

“A son (B)honors his father,
And a servant his master.
(C)If then I am the Father,
Where is My honor?
And if I am a Master,
Where is My reverence?
Says the Lord of hosts
To you priests who despise My name.
(D)Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’

“You offer (E)defiled food on My altar,
But say,
‘In what way have we defiled You?’
By saying,
(F)‘The table of the Lord is [a]contemptible.’
