⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes. ⁶ He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

¹⁴ If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come. ¹⁵ He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁰ His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹⁵ But others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, or like one of the prophets.”

¹⁷ He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’^(A) and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.”
