⁷ For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should desire instruction from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the Lord of Armies.^(A)

²⁰ But you have an anointing^(A) from the Holy One,^(B) and all of you know the truth.^[a]

²⁷ As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, his anointing teaches you about all things^(A) and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you,^[a] remain in him.^(B)

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,^(A) whom the Father will send^(B) in my name, will teach you all things^(C) and remind you of everything I have told you.^(D)

¹² “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.^{(A) 13} When the Spirit of truth^(B) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.^(C) For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. ¹⁴ He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

²⁰ because it isn’t you speaking, but the Spirit^(A) of your Father is speaking through you.^(B)

¹² For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what must be said.”^(A)

²³ “If anyone tells you then, ‘See, here is the Messiah!’^(A) or, ‘Over here!’ do not believe it.^{(B) 24} For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray,^(C) if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Take note: I have told you in advance. ²⁶ So if they tell you, ‘See, he’s in the wilderness!’ don’t go out; or, ‘See, he’s in the storerooms!’ do not believe it. ²⁷ For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.^(D)

¹⁷ But anyone joined^(A) to the Lord is one spirit^(B) with him.
