⁶ True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in integrity and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.^(A)

³ Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky,^[a] and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.^(A)

⁵ and in their mouth no lie was found; they are blameless.^(A)

¹⁹ My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth^[a] and is brought back by another, ²⁰ you should know that whoever brings back a sinner from wandering will save the sinner’s^[b] soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.^(A)

⁷ For a bishop,^[a] as God’s steward, must be blameless; he must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or addicted to wine or violent or greedy for gain,^{(A) 8} but he must be hospitable,^[b] a lover of goodness, self-controlled, upright, devout, and restrained, ⁹ holding tightly to the trustworthy word of the teaching, so that he may be able both to exhort with sound instruction and to refute those who contradict it.

¹⁵ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth. ¹⁶ Avoid profane chatter, for it will lead people^[a] into more and more impiety,^(A)

¹⁸ to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’^(A)

¹⁶ He will turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.^{(A) 17} With the spirit and power of Elijah he will go before him, to turn the hearts of parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”^(B)

⁶ Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.^(A)
