6 “Phải thận trọng khi làm việc phúc đức, đừng cho mọi người thấy. Nếu không các con sẽ chẳng nhận được phần thưởng gì từ Cha các con trên thiên đàng đâu.
2 Khi biếu cho kẻ nghèo, đừng làm như bọn đạo đức giả. Họ thổi kèn trong các hội đường và phố chợ để mọi người thấy và kính nể họ. Ta bảo thật, họ đã nhận được đầy đủ phần thưởng của họ rồi. 3 Cho nên khi các con biếu kẻ nghèo, đừng để người khác biết [a]. 4 Hãy biếu cách kín đáo. Cha các con là Đấng thấy những hành vi kín đáo sẽ thưởng cho các con.

5 Khi các con cầu nguyện, đừng làm như những kẻ đạo đức giả. Họ thích đứng trong hội đường và các góc đường rồi cầu nguyện để mọi người thấy. Ta bảo thật, họ đã nhận được phần thưởng của mình rồi. 6 Nhưng khi cầu nguyện, các con hãy vào phòng riêng, đóng cửa lại rồi cầu nguyện với Cha các con là Đấng không ai thấy. Cha các con là Đấng thấy những việc kín đáo, sẽ thưởng cho các con.
7 Còn khi cầu nguyện, đừng làm như kẻ không biết Thượng Đế. Họ lải nhải những điều vô nghĩa, tưởng rằng Thượng Đế sẽ nghe họ vì nói nhiều. 8 Đừng làm như họ, vì Cha các con biết các con cần gì trước khi các con xin Ngài rồi. 9 Khi cầu nguyện, hãy nói như sau:
‘Lạy Cha trên thiên đàng,
nguyền xin danh Cha luôn được tôn thánh.
10 Nguyền nước Cha mau đến
và những ý muốn Cha đều thành tựu
ở dưới đất nầy cũng như trên thiên đàng.
11 Xin cho chúng con đủ thức ăn hôm nay.
12 Xin tha tội chúng con,
như chúng con đã tha cho những kẻ phạm tội cùng chúng con.
13 Xin đừng đưa chúng con vào sự cám dỗ,
mà cứu chúng con khỏi Kẻ Ác. [b]’
14 Thật vậy, nếu các con tha tội kẻ khác, thì Cha các con trên thiên đàng cũng sẽ tha tội cho các con. 15 Nhưng nếu các con không tha tội kẻ khác, thì Cha các con trên thiên đàng cũng sẽ không tha tội cho các con.

16 Khi các con cữ ăn, đừng làm ra vẻ buồn rầu như bọn đạo đức giả. Họ làm như thế để người khác biết họ nhịn ăn. Ta bảo thật, những kẻ ấy đã nhận được đầy đủ phần thưởng của mình rồi. 17 Nên khi các con cữ ăn hãy chải đầu, rửa mặt. 18 Như thế sẽ không ai biết các con đang cữ ăn, nhưng Cha các con, Đấng mà các con không thấy được, sẽ nhìn thấy. Ngài thấy những hành vi kín đáo và sẽ thưởng cho các con.
Thượng Đế quan trọng hơn tiền tài(B)
19 Các con đừng thu chứa của báu trên đất nầy là nơi có mối mọt, rỉ sét hủy hoại và kẻ trộm lẻn vào đánh cắp. 20 Nhưng hãy thu chứa của báu trên thiên đàng; là nơi không có mối mọt, rỉ sét hủy hoại hoặc kẻ trộm đánh cắp. 21 Của đâu thì lòng đó.
22 Mắt phản ảnh toàn thể con người. Mắt tốt sẽ chiếu sáng toàn thân, 23 nhưng nếu mắt xấu sẽ tạo ra tối tăm cho toàn thân. Nếu ánh sáng mà các con có chỉ là bóng tối thì bóng đó sẽ tối tăm biết bao nhiêu [c].
24 Không ai có thể làm tôi hai chủ; vì sẽ yêu chủ nầy, ghét chủ kia, hoặc theo chủ nầy, bỏ chủ kia. Các con không thể vừa phục vụ Thượng Đế lại vừa phục vụ của cải [d] trần gian.
Đừng lo lắng(C)
25 Ta bảo các con, đừng lo âu rằng mình phải ăn gì, uống gì để sống, phải mặc áo quần gì để che thân. Mạng sống quí hơn thức ăn, thân thể quí hơn quần áo. 26 Hãy xem loài chim trời! Chúng nó chẳng trồng trọt, gặt hái hay thu chứa thực phẩm trong kho, mà Cha các con trên trời còn nuôi chúng. Các con quí hơn chim chóc nhiều. 27 Các con không thể lo lắng mà làm cho đời mình dài thêm giây phút nào.
28 Còn tại sao các con lo lắng về quần áo? Hãy xem hoa huệ ngoài đồng! Chúng chẳng làm lụng, cũng không may mặc gì. 29 Nhưng ta cho các con biết là dù vua Sô-lô-môn giàu sang đến đâu cũng chưa được mặc đẹp bằng một trong những đóa hoa huệ ấy. 30 Thượng Đế còn mặc đẹp cho loài hoa cỏ ngoài đồng, là loài nay sống mai bị chụm lửa, huống hồ là các con. Đừng quá ít đức tin như thế! 31 Đừng quá lo âu rồi nói, ‘Chúng ta sẽ ăn gì?’ ‘uống gì?’ hay ‘Chúng ta sẽ mặc gì?’ 32 Những người không biết Thượng Đế cũng tìm kiếm các thứ ấy, và Cha các con trên trời cũng biết các con cần những thứ ấy rồi. 33 Việc các con cần tìm hơn cả là Nước Trời và ý muốn Thượng Đế. Rồi tất cả những nhu cầu ấy sẽ đương nhiên được ban cho các con. 34 Cho nên, đừng lo lắng gì về ngày mai, vì ngày mai có những việc khác cần phải lo. Mỗi ngày có đủ việc để lo rồi.”

О помощи бедным
6 – Смотрите, не выставляйте свою праведность напоказ. Иначе вы не получите от Небесного Отца никакой награды. 2 И когда даёшь милостыню бедным, то не объявляй об этом всем, как делают лицемеры в наших молитвенных домах[a] и на улицах для того, чтобы их хвалили. Говорю вам истину: они уже получили свою награду. 3 Ты же, когда помогаешь бедным, делай это так, чтобы твоя левая рука не знала, что делает правая; 4 пусть твоя помощь будет тайной. Тогда твой Отец, который видит и то, что делается втайне, вознаградит тебя.
О молитве(A)
5 – Когда вы молитесь, то не будьте как лицемеры, которые любят молиться, стоя в молитвенных домах и на углах улиц, таким образом, чтобы все их видели. Говорю вам истину: они уже получили свою награду. 6 Ты же, когда молишься, войди в комнату, закрой за собой дверь и помолись своему Небесному Отцу, Который присутствует и в месте твоего уединения. Тогда твой Отец, Который видит и то, что делается втайне, вознаградит тебя. 7 Когда вы молитесь, то не болтайте попусту, как это делают язычники, которые думают, что будут услышаны благодаря своему многословию. 8 Не будьте как они, ведь ваш Отец знает о ваших нуждах ещё до того, как вы обращаетесь к Нему с просьбой. 9 Молитесь так:
Отец наш Небесный,
пусть прославится имя Твоё!
10 Пусть наступит Царство Твоё
и исполнится воля Твоя
на земле, как и на небесах!
11 Хлеб наш насущный дай нам на сегодняшний день.
12 Прости нам долги наши,
как и мы простили должникам нашим.
13 Не дай нам поддаться искушению,
но сохрани нас от дьявола[b].[c]
14 – Потому что, если вы будете прощать людям их проступки, то и ваш Небесный Отец простит вас. 15 Но если вы не будете прощать людям, то и ваш Отец не простит вам ваших проступков.
О посте
16 – Когда вы поститесь, то не ходите с мрачными лицами, как лицемеры, которые хотят показать своим видом, что постятся. Говорю вам истину: они уже получили свою награду. 17 Ты же, когда постишься, умойся и причешись[d], 18 чтобы не люди, а только твой Небесный Отец, Который присутствует и в месте твоего уединения, знал о твоём посте, и тогда Он вознаградит тебя, ведь Он видит и то, что делается втайне.
О богатстве(B)
19 – Не копите себе богатств на земле, где их портят моль и ржавчина и где воры могут обокрасть ваш дом. 20 Копите лучше себе сокровища на небесах, где их не испортят ни моль, ни ржавчина и куда воры не смогут проникнуть и украсть. 21 Ведь где твоё богатство, там будет и твоё сердце.
22 Глаз – это светильник всего тела. Если твой глаз ясен[e] (то есть если ты щедр), то и всё твоё тело будет полно света. 23 Но если глаз у тебя замутнён[f] (то есть когда ты скуп), то всё твоё тело будет полно тьмы. И если свет, который в тебе, – тьма, то какова же тогда тьма!
24 Никто не может служить двум господам. Он или одного будет ненавидеть, а другого любить, или же одному будет предан, а другим станет пренебрегать. Вы не можете одновременно служить и Всевышнему, и богатству.
О беспокойстве(C)
25 – Поэтому Я говорю вам: не тревожьтесь о своей жизни, что вам есть или что пить, или о своём теле, во что вам одеться. Разве жизнь не важнее пищи и тело не важнее одежды? 26 Посмотрите на птиц небесных: они не сеют, не жнут, не собирают в хранилища, однако ваш Небесный Отец питает их. Неужели вы менее ценны, чем птицы? 27 И кто из вас, беспокоясь, может продлить себе жизнь хотя бы на один час? 28 И зачем вам беспокоиться об одежде? Подумайте о том, как растут полевые лилии. Они не трудятся и не прядут, 29 но говорю вам, что даже царь Сулейман во всём своём величии не одевался так, как любая из них. 30 Но если Всевышний так одевает полевую траву, которая сегодня есть, а завтра будет брошена в печь, то не оденет ли Он и вас, маловеры? 31 Поэтому не тревожьтесь и не спрашивайте: «Что нам есть?», или: «Что нам пить?», или: «Во что одеться?». 32 Ведь язычники только обо всём этом и думают, но ваш Небесный Отец знает, что вы нуждаетесь во всём этом. 33 Прежде всего ищите Царства Всевышнего и Его праведности, и это всё вам тоже будет дано. 34 Поэтому не тревожьтесь о завтрашнем дне, завтрашний день сам побеспокоится о себе. Для каждого дня достаточно своих тревог.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Giving to the Needy
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.(A) If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.(B)

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing(D) in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,(E) who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling(F) like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.(G) 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need(H) before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father(I) in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom(J) come,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Fasting
16 “When you fast,(R) do not look somber(S) as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.(T)
Treasures in Heaven(U)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,(V) where moths and vermin destroy,(W) and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,(X) where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.(Y) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.(Z)
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[c] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[d] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.(AA)
Do Not Worry(AB)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry(AC) about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.(AD) Are you not much more valuable than they?(AE) 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?(AF)
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor(AG) was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?(AH) 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.(AI) 33 But seek first his kingdom(AJ) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.(AK) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
