Truyền Thống Người Xưa
(Mác 7:1-13)
15 Khi ấy có mấy người Pha-ri-si và mấy thầy dạy giáo luật từ Giê-ru-sa-lem đến gặp Ðức Chúa Jesus và hỏi, 2 “Tại sao các môn đồ Thầy vi phạm truyền thống của các bậc trưởng lão để lại, vì họ không rửa tay trước khi ăn bánh?”
3 Ngài trả lời và nói với họ, “Vậy tại sao các ngươi vi phạm điều răn của Ðức Chúa Trời vì truyền thống của mình? 4 Vì Ðức Chúa Trời đã phán, ‘Hãy hiếu kính cha mẹ ngươi,’
8 ‘Dân này chỉ tôn kính Ta bằng đầu môi chót lưỡi,
Còn lòng chúng cách xa Ta lắm.
9 Việc chúng thờ phượng Ta là vô ích;
Giáo lý chúng dạy toàn là quy tắc của loài người.’
Thứ Làm Người Ta Ô Uế
(Mác 7:14-23)
10 Ngài gọi đám đông đến và nói với họ, “Hãy nghe và hiểu thấu điều này: 11 Chẳng phải những gì vào miệng làm ô uế người ta, nhưng những gì từ miệng ra mới làm ô uế người ta.”
12 Các môn đồ Ngài lại gần và nói với Ngài, “Thầy có biết những người Pha-ri-si rất phật lòng khi nghe Thầy nói như vậy không?”
13 Ngài trả lời và nói, “Hễ cây nào Cha Ta trên trời không trồng thì sẽ bị nhổ bỏ. 14 Cứ để mặc họ. Họ là những người mù dẫn đường người mù. Nếu người mù dẫn đường người mù, cả hai sẽ rơi xuống hố.”
15 Phi-rơ đáp lời và nói, “Xin Thầy giải nghĩa ngụ ngôn ấy cho chúng con.”
16 Ngài nói, “Các ngươi vẫn chưa hiểu sao? 17 Các ngươi không hiểu rằng hễ vật gì vào miệng thì xuống bụng rồi bị thải ra ngoài sao? 18 Nhưng những gì miệng thốt ra là phát xuất từ tấm lòng; chính những điều ấy mới làm ô uế người ta. 19 Vì từ trong lòng mà ra những ác ý, sát nhân, ngoại tình, gian dâm, trộm cắp, làm chứng dối, và vu khống. 20 Ðó mới là những gì làm ô uế người ta, chứ ăn mà không rửa tay chẳng làm ô uế người ta đâu.”
Ðức Tin của Thiếu Phụ Ca-na-an
(Mác 7:24-30)
21 Ðức Chúa Jesus rời nơi đó để rút lui về miền Ty-rơ và Si-đôn. 22 Này, một thiếu phụ người Ca-na-an ở miền đó đến, kêu cầu với Ngài rằng, “Lạy Chúa, Con Vua Ða-vít, xin thương xót con, con gái của con bị quỷ hành đau khổ lắm.”
23 Nhưng Ngài chẳng đáp lại tiếng nào. Các môn đồ Ngài lại gần và nói với Ngài, “Xin Thầy bảo bà ấy đi về, chứ bà ấy cứ theo sau chúng ta và kêu nài mãi.”
24 Nhưng Ngài trả lời và nói, “Ta được sai đến với những con chiên lạc mất của nhà I-sơ-ra-ên.”
25 Tuy nhiên bà ấy đến, quỳ trước mặt Ngài, và nói, “Lạy Chúa, xin giúp con.”
26 Ngài trả lời và nói, “Không nên lấy bánh của con cái mà cho chó ăn.”
27 Bà ấy đáp, “Lạy Chúa, thưa đúng vậy, nhưng ngay cả mấy con chó con cũng được ăn những mảnh bánh vụn trên bàn của chủ rớt xuống mà.”
28 Bấy giờ Ðức Chúa Jesus trả lời và nói với bà, “Hỡi bà kia, đức tin của ngươi lớn thay! Việc phải xảy ra như ngươi mong muốn.” Chính giờ đó con gái của bà được lành.
Chúa Chữa Lành Nhiều Người
29 Rời nơi đó Ðức Chúa Jesus đi dọc bờ biển Ga-li-lê; Ngài lên một sườn núi và ngồi xuống. 30 Dân chúng lũ lượt kéo đến với Ngài, mang theo những người què quặt, đui mù, tàn tật, câm điếc, và mọi thứ tật bịnh khác. Họ đặt những người ấy nơi chân Ngài, và Ngài chữa lành cho họ. 31 Dân chúng rất đỗi kinh ngạc khi thấy người câm nói được, người tàn tật hết tật nguyền, người què đi được, và người mù thấy được. Vậy họ tôn vinh Ðức Chúa Trời của I-sơ-ra-ên.
Chúa Hóa Bánh cho Bốn Ngàn Người Ăn
(Mác 8:1-10)
32 Bấy giờ Ðức Chúa Jesus gọi các môn đồ Ngài đến gần và nói, “Ta thương xót đoàn dân này, vì họ đã ở với Ta đến nay đã ba ngày rồi, và không còn gì để ăn. Ta không muốn họ mang bụng đói đi về, vì họ có thể xỉu ở dọc đường.”
33 Các môn đồ Ngài nói với Ngài, “Chúng ta có thể tìm đâu ra đủ bánh trong nơi hoang dã này để cho đoàn dân đông đúc này ăn?”
34 Ðức Chúa Jesus hỏi họ, “Các ngươi có bao nhiêu bánh?”
Họ đáp, “Thưa có bảy cái bánh và vài con cá nhỏ.”
35 Bấy giờ Ngài truyền cho đoàn dân ngồi xuống đất. 36 Ngài cầm bảy cái bánh và mấy con cá, tạ ơn, bẻ ra, rồi đưa cho các môn đồ, các môn đồ phân phát cho đoàn dân. 37 Tất cả đều ăn và được no nê. Sau đó họ gom những miếng bánh thừa và được bảy giỏ đầy. 38 Có khoảng bốn ngàn người ăn, không kể phụ nữ và trẻ em. 39 Sau khi giải tán đoàn dân đông, Ngài xuống thuyền sang vùng Ma-ga-đan.

Defilement Comes from Within(A)
15 Then (B)the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 (C)“Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, (D)‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, (E)‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, (F)“Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the [b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 (G)Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 ‘These(H) people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
(I)Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
10 (J)When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 (K)Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13 But He answered and said, (L)“Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. (M)They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
15 (N)Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
16 So Jesus said, (O)“Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that (P)whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But (Q)those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 (R)For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”
A Gentile Shows Her Faith(S)
21 (T)Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, (U)Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
23 But He answered her not a word.
And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
24 But He answered and said, (V)“I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little (W)dogs.”
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, (X)great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Jesus Heals Great Multitudes(Y)
29 (Z)Jesus departed from there, (AA)skirted the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat down there. 30 (AB)Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, [d]maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ (AC)feet, and He healed them. 31 So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the [e]maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they (AD)glorified the God of Israel.
Feeding the Four Thousand(AE)
32 (AF)Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
33 (AG)Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?”
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”
And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.”
35 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And (AH)He took the seven loaves and the fish and (AI)gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. 37 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left. 38 Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 (AJ)And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of [f]Magdala.

15 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
